Thank you Cindy, we're glad you and your parents enjoy your stay at our cabin, come back to see us anytime!
House and property well appointed and was as advertised. Owner very responsive to all questions and needs. Rent the pontoon boat if you can. That made the week for us! You do need to bring your own bath and beach towels. The bedroom with King bed is a bit challenging as the bed extends the entire room leaving just narrow pathway on one side to get to closet. Overall a great place on a nice lake. Fishing was decent!

great xc ski trail location
Great people, great location. Scenic overlook of Nelson Lake. Less than 30 minute drive to xc ski trailheads in Cable, Hayward, etc. Terrific stay. The bunk beds make the most of the room available, and it's v. warm with the fireplace heating the space. highly recommended for someone looking for a Wisconsin winter vacation. Thanks!

The cabin was clean and everything was as advertised. I realized as we were coming into the area that I had not seen any outside photos of the cabin. It might be helpful to add a few. The area is beautiful and full of outdoor activity options very close by. I would stay again.

Drove 5+ hours to stay in a cabin with inadequate heating. Spent one night, (reserved 4) got up in the morning, packed and drove 5+ hours home. The pictures give the impression of privacy, but properties are very close to each other. Road/drive runs between cabin and lake. Received no response from voicemail left with owner.

Hello Ellen, I'm sorry you felt the cabin had inadequate heating, there are individual electric heaters in each bedroom to support the main heating source which is stated on the check in/out instructions. We personally have lived in this cabin in the winter months with -30 temps and have had no issues with heating. There is no where on the property listing that indicates the cabin is very private, I apologize you felt it was. Be sure to ask these specific questions in the future if it's an important feature you're looking for. The road between the cabin and lake is only a service road to the boat launch and additional parking, not a through road as your review may lead people to believe. YES, I did receive your voicemail about the fact you were leaving early BECAUSE of the weather (snow storm) that was coming plus what we had already received. You had indicated on your message that you didn't anticipate there being snow during your trip when you booked. Your voicemail DID NOT indicate that you wanted me to call back only an FYI that you were heading home. I hope you had a safe trip home!

Quiet Cozy Cabin
Cozy cabin is decorated so cute! Updated bathroom. 2 of the 3 bedrooms have window air conditioners. We left doors open during the day and it cooled the cabin nicely. Cute screened in porch with a bar counter top made a great place to watch sunsets or have your morning coffee. Wifi was great as well as dish TV. Private dock and fireplace. The beach is a short walk (one cabin away) and shared by all resort guests. Fishing was slow due to large rain fall recently. Several bar/restaurants on lake. Owner Peggy was awesome to work with. Answered any questions in a timely manner. We will definitely be going back. Thanks for the great memories!!

Thank you Becky, we're glad you enjoyed your stay! We look forward to having you back anytime!!!
The atmosphere was very welcoming and lake like which was very nice. Didn't like there was cameras at front and patio doors, completely invading our privacy and it was a little strange there was family pictures everywhere. One of the bedroom pictures showed online was one that was locked and couldn't use for some reason. The room not pictured that we used had an odor like dog smell to it or maybe it was because the carpet had gotten wet day b4. The pantry carpet was wet along one side of wall and some spots farther out towards door(seen in pics). There were visible mouse traps with fresh peanut butter on them in 2 bedrooms and laundry room. Spider webs throughtout the house. We had to kill spiders constantly. The one sofa didn't recline for some reason and when i went to open the back to check if it waa unplugged a bunch of food crumbs fell out and then when my husband sat in the other that reclined there was candy underneath his seat. U could see all the food crumbs under the couches if u layed at eye level with floor. There were holes in the ceilings where vents should've been. I mean I guess we expected it to be alot cleaner considering it was someones actual lake home and not just a rental property.
We used the cabin for snowmobiling, we setup for 8 guys but 2 backed out. Thankfully they did, no way we could have slept 8. 5 to 6 is max but for what we used the cabin for it was perfect!

Thank you Nathan, there are actually enough beds to sleep 8 people, however three of the beds are full size and if unwilling to sleep two per full sized bed, yes max would be 5-6 guys :)
We had a blast on our snowmobile trip! Right off of the trail, tucked in off the road. It was a very cold weekend so we had a bit of trouble figuring out the heaters to keep warm the first night, had it toasty by night 2, though! A little small if we were going to have more people and the couch was ....interesting....

Thank you Katie, glad you enjoyed your trip and had fun snowmobiling. Not sure what difficulty you were having with the electric heaters, wish you would have contacted us about them. We are in the process of ordering a new couch, the space is difficult to find a size that fits and maximizes the seating.
Nice place owed by a Great Couple. A group of us came up for a snowmobile trip, the trail ran across the lake right in front of the cabin so very easy access to the trail system. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely come again!

About the host
Hosted by Peggy Strand
We purchased a cabin on Nelson Lake in October of 2014, initially intended for investment property only. Immediately we grew to love the people and area so much that we took it off the rental market to enjoy for ourselves. Recently however we have decided to spent more time at our Florida home therefore renting out our home on Nelson Lake again. Please enjoy the cabin as if it were your own and make some lifelong memories with your family and friends!
Why they chose this property
Nelson Lake is approximately 3300 acres in size. 'The Big Island' is a 600 acre island that you can actually travel around by boat. Very Beautiful! With 31 miles of shoreline, 50% of which is undeveloped - Nelson boasts some of the best bass fishing in Northern Wisconsin. Walleye, pan fish, and pike are abundant. There are 6 bars and/or grills located on Nelson. 6 of which you can access by boat. A snowmobile trail is located directly in front of the cabin with thousands of miles to explore. Never a dull moment.
What makes this property unique
The bright morning sunrises and evening sunsets are breathtaking on Nelson Lake. Enjoy a cup of coffee and take a walk around the lake. Nelson Lake is a beautiful lake spring - summer - fall and winter. Come and explore today!
