Enjoy water views from every room of this attractive condo. Located on the Manteo Causeway above the brand-new Kitty Hawk Kites store(open seasonally), this 2 bedroom condo is beautifully decorated. If you are remote working, there is a desk stationm set up to enjoy a peaceful view of water and wildlife. An excellent location for kayaking, jetskiing or crabbing. Beach access is close by at Jeanette's Pier. Enjoy stunning views of the sound from the living room and have a front-row seat to the famous Outer Banks sunsets. Check out these local restaurant favorites within walking distance- Sam and Omie's, Basnights Lone Cedar, Tale of the Whale, and Sugar Creek!

The first bedroom when you enter the condo is a King Master bedroom. The second bedroom also offers a King bedroom with hall access bath from the living room. The couch pulls out into a Queen sleep sofa. The dining room table offers seating for 6. Washer and Dryer are located off the kitchen. (Cable is only offered on TV's in bedrooms, the Living Room TV is a smart TV with no cable)

Lovely Holiday Stay with Amazing Views

I spent 5 nights here with my family after the Christmas holiday and we really found the property to be amazing and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The bedrooms are a good size, the kitchen facility is adequate, but the views are to die for. Both bedrooms are well furnished with king sized beds. When we arrived the water was not turned on but the porperty owner quickly remedied the situation. As was mentioned in other reviews there were a few cockroaches found dead in the apartment and you do need to be prepared to bring your own toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, and I would recommend bringing your own towels as well. Also, be aware that there are many stairs to get to the apartment so consider this before booking. Despite these few criticisms, I would highly recommend staying at this property if you are considering it!

Looks Great in the Picture

When we first got in, the place looked great. Open floor plan with a nice bay view and a lot of natural light. Don't pack heavy, it's 3 sets of steps to get to the condo. We were provided 1 roll of paper towels and 2 rolls of toilet paper. The kitchen is very limited on pretty much everything. We had to buy cleaning products, foil pans and cooking utensils. Even with that everything would have been ok. First night, we killed 7 palmetto bugs (roaches). In the process we found undergarments under the main bath sink and the master bedroom bed. Floors were dirty like they haven't been mopped or swiffered since they were installed. The management company sent someone to spray for the bugs the next day. We asked if we should pick up our thing that we're on the floor, we were told it's not necessary. He was there for 5 minutes and left. Next day, a few dead bugs cleaned up and one night of sleep relatively stress free. 2 days later bugs were back. They had to send someone back. Not the vacation we had in mind when we booked it.

Hi Dawn, Sorry that these things prevented you from enjoying your stay. We actually send an e-mail prior to arrival with a list of things to bring, looks like the e-mail was not opened. We do provide a start up bag with toilet paper and paper towels, dishwashing pod , trash bags and local information for the first night, not for the entire stay. It is disheartening to hear about the floors and clothes left behind. We would have been happy to send the cleaner back over to re-clean the floors for you, but were not made aware until the day before you checked out. In regards to the Palmetto Bugs- Locals and visitors are bound to encounter palmetto bugs in and around their homes. It’s a fact of life on the Outer Banks. Palmetto bugs are everywhere and prevalent in the summer as these are the hottest, most humid months in the southern U.S. This is also right in the middle of our rainy season. That means palmetto bugs are thriving outdoors. At the same time, they’re getting flooded out of soil and mulch by the storms and searching for ways indoors to escape the rain. Preventing palmetto bugs is an ongoing battle that requires diligence and patience. Though they mostly live outside, they’ll go anywhere there’s food and water. Our condos are routinely sprayed by an exterminator, but completely eradicating them is, well, impossible. It has nothing to do with keeping a dirty property, you can be the most immaculate property in the world and they’ll still be around. We do hope you were able to enjoy the beach, killer views and sunsets from the condo while you were here. Thank you for your feedback. -First Flight Rentals

Furry family loved it!

Floors were great for our furry pets and easy enough to find a spot for them to take them for a nature break. However, you do have to be in decent shape to take up & down 3 flights of steps. Also, we took them on beach where they had plenty of room to roam free but you have to drive. The place was beautiful and the views were spectacular!

Great views

We stayed for a family vacation. The pin pad entry made for a smooth check in and stay not having to keep track of keys. The house is beautiful. The only negative is that the water pressure was very low and at times the shower only came out as a trickle which made it hard to wash hair and we were only provided with four towels which had us doing laundry every day. There was a septic alarm going off the first morning and the host was very responsive. They sent a serviceman out the same day. We would stay here again. The location is central to all attractions and made it possible for us to explore the whole island during our stay.

Great condo! Smells and looks brand new

This is a great little condo, smells brand new and looks brand new. Very clean. If I had to say anything it would be that there is literally nothing there, not even dish soap. We did leave quite a few condiments, I’m not sure if they throw them all away or what make sure you bring everything that you would need! Other than that, I would absolutely stay here again

Winter get away

The initial impression was very poor. There was bird poop all over the stair case, deck and seating area. The response from the realtor was they have little control over the wild life. We purchased cleaning product and buckets and cleaned the area as to not track it into the house.( 2 people carrying water and scrubbing 2 hours) We were there all week and never had the problem repeat. So our impression was that it wasn’t clean for weeks prior to our arrival. Spider webs and bugs around the door on the deck also. The home is spare stocked, take everything you need. No wine glasses, no cleaning products or paper products. One trash can liner provided and 2 rolls of toilet paper. View was delightful, and check in and out was flexible and fairly easy.

Clean apartment; a short drive to beach and other amenities

The apartment was great, very modern and clean. The location was good for driving to the beach, which has public parking only a few minutes away, as well as other amenities within about 10 minutes. There is a nice cafe for breakfast and pizza parlor on the same lot. Overall, this worked really well for us and we would recommend a stay here.

management interaction overshadowed great location

This rental property is in a great location, close to the beach and restaurants. We greatly appreciated the ability to bring our dog as well. We did have to bring a considerable amount of supplies, like toilet paper, paper towel, pots and pans for making food. The need to bring all these items was only informed 2 weeks prior to the actual stay itself. Had we taken a plane, I dont know how I would have brought everything we needed. The apartment is on the third floor above a kitty hawk kites store, which is great for purchases. The down side of this is that all our supplies and luggage has to be carried up 3 flights of stairs. My father had a knee injury at the time and this posed a problem. All of the benefits of this location were overshadowed by management. One night we lost power in 4/5 rooms. We could not get ahold of the rental company. We contacted VRBO, they couldn't get a hold of the company. When finally contacted, they only text messaged us which was frustrating to communicate with. Since one room retained power, they considered it a partial power loss and simply refused to come help. They wouldn't even tell us where the fuse box was to fix it ourselves. This affected our stay, my father couldn't use a breathing device at night. It was difficult to use the windowless bathrooms since there was no power. The wifi went out. We didnt even shower since it was a safety hazard. The next day I spoke to the property manger who did not even know we lost power. She defended their refusal to help when we lost power. Additionally, she was very rude and petty in a childish sort of way. Which was very surprising since we spent thousands to stay there and simply being kind would have likely help pacify the situation. The juvenile tone of the conversation really shocked me and you could have the nicest product in the world but if you are rude to your customers, it doesnt matter. Subsequently, I did a yelp search on the company and discovered some poor reviews, not like the 5 stars avg on VRBO. Basically, it seems like they have enough rentals that they make their money and if you have a problem, they dont care. The rental appeared clean but we easily found someone's sandals under the couch, crumbs under the cushions indicating poor cleaning. Additionally, I hate to say this but on the first night we did see a giant cockroach on the wall however, we did not see any bugs the remaining duration of the stay. None the less this put me on edge for days.

Whale of a time, highly recommend

The pictures and description of this property are spot on. Everything is new and in great condition. It is located on a main causeway connecting to the Outer Banks so traffic is heavy and constant during the morning to evening hours. The property is well insulated from the sound of the causeway traffic and the store below. Be aware that there are 2 flights of stairs leading up to the kite store then an additional 2 flights of stairs leading up to the property. You can avoid the first 2 flights of stairs if you take the ramp. A beautiful view of the bay is found at the entrance to the property with built in benches to sit and enjoy the views and the nice breeze off of the bay. The one thing we noticed is that we had many visitors come to the top of the landing of the property and sit outside our door, it would be nice if there was a sign at the first flight of stairs by the Kite shop stating private residence above so you wouldn't have so many visitors outside your door. Each bedroom has a small dresser to put clothing in if needed, but luggage stands would be a nice touch in the closets of both bedrooms. The electrical outlets are a bit tricky to plug the appliances into it takes a little forcing to get them to plug in but all worked. Location was great for access to the beach about a 5 minute drive from the property. There is a nice bakery, cafe and the Whales Tale restaurant all within walking distance from the parking lot. Nice and convenient to have the Kite store right below to rent jet ski's, kayaks, pontoon or book a dolphin tour. Had a great time would definitely stay again!

We will be back....

I don't usually dole out 5 stars, but we were extremely pleased with the rental. It's new, so all the furnishings seemed thoughtfully purchased and placed within the apartment. The two king beds are definitely comfortable. For the size of the unit, I would've placed a much bigger dining table in the area, but the existing one does seat 6. They boast water views from 3 sides because that is indeed what you will see from the enormous windows. My high school son logged onto his virtual classes and studied for SAT's from a cozy home office nook overlooking the sound. We heard nothing from the Kitty Hawk Kite store below us, and we hope they didn't hear us. The ceilings are very tall. The several flight climb to the front door of the apartment affords beautiful views, and it was windy up there. I'm sure that translates to welcome breezes come summer time. We were just too cold to have happy hour out there, or to rent a kayak in early April. Although restaurants and the pier are technically within walking distance, that strip of land on the side of Va Dare Trail is icky and there are no sidewalks, so we often drove. Pets ARE allowed here, and we loved having our aging doodle with us, but please keep this property clean and nice-looking and mind your dogs! This is a lovely spot.
