About Paul Platt

The property is managed by Paul Platt an avid fly fisherman and kayak guide.

Paul lives onsite and is key to keeping your stay comfortable and on track.

Paul Platt purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Paul Platt chose Alaska

The Hatchery was established in 1976 by the State of Alaska and reached its peak in the late 1980’s, producing more than 15 million juvenile red salmon a year! Although the Big Lake Fish Hatchery was part of a thriving statewide network of hatcheries, lack of funding forced its closure in 1993.

The facility is now under the control of Fort Alaska Company, although today the Hatchery is quiet, the Fort lives on and being reconstructed as an Alaskan outpost a place to stay and relax and at that certain time of year the salmon still return.

What makes this cabin unique

Property is on a natural stream and has Natural gas central heating for easy temperature control. East access to Big Lake and Wasilla but remote enough to keep the feel of Alaska.
