LUXURY OCEANFRONT ESTATE! Private beach & heated pool & hot tub. Sleeps 20!

We specialize in family vacation rentals and residential stays of 7 nights or more. We have many wonderful families who have come to Whales Watch for 1 to 4 weeks for decades for their annual Nantucket family vacation. We hope you choose to become part of the Whales Watch Family!

Many consider Whales Watch to have the best ocean views on Nantucket.

Since June 2022, we do not allow weddings or events. Whales Watch resides in a quiet residential neighborhood (please see below for details).*

Please message for pictures of new large heated swimming pool (20 feet by 40 feet) and three hot tubs! There are four fire pits & four outdoor showers as well. Brand new teak pool furniture with navy cushions on the pool deck.

I am the owner of all three houses. They were built in the 1980s and I purchased them in 2016. I've since done some serious renovations and upgrades to all of them that I'm sure you will enjoy. New floors, bedding, linens, furniture, state-of-the-art appliances, etc. I can send updated photos and videos upon request.

I will be your direct contact for booking -- then once booked, I will connect you with my Caretaker, who can arrange groceries, bicycle rentals, reservations etc.! We will ensure you have a fantastic experience!

*Unfortunately, due to some wedding and event planners holding excessively loud unauthorized events at Whales Watch -- in June 2022, I agreed to a zoning change (deed restriction) for Whales Watch. Weddings and events are now 100% prohibited. We focus solely on residential family vacations. I want to make sure Whales Watch is preserved as a quiet relaxing oasis for my family and your family to vacation for many decades to come!

Nantucket Lightship Basket Museum and Nantucket Shipwreck and Lifesaving Museum are cultural highlights, and some of the area's attractions include Theatre Workshop of Nantucket and Vestal St Observatory. Great Location!

We had four generations staying at Whale Watch 3. The location and views are amazing. Easy access to the beach was great. Communication with property management staff was prompt and they answered any questions we had. We would definitely stay here again!

Amazing location and view!

The property and view were absolutely amazing! The house had a few hiccups but it wasn’t anything that phased us too much. The property manager was extremely attentive and helpful. We lost our luggage the first night and she got us everything we needed for our baby while she was also working her

Wow!

Whales Watch is incredible. The property, the view, the pool, the hot tub, the amenities overall were awesome and top notch. We were here as a 15 person family group and Whales Watch 1 accommodated everyone very comfortably. The ocean views from the porch, lawn, hot tub and fire pit were beautiful. Michael was the most accommodating host I’ve encountered on our VRBO stays, even offering to accommodate us when we almost got stuck an extra night when weather forced some ferries to cancel. He couldn’t have been more gracious. The next time we come back to Nantucket we will definitely try and stay here again - we have become spoiled and can’t imagine a better home:)

Folks … this is hands down the best view on the island ! No comparison !! It is a dream. Ok … the kitchen equipment is a bit of a mish mash and the appliances are not all super luxury but that does not matter at all !! If you walk up those stairs of the upside down house in Whalewatch I and you see the ocean terrace it will blow you away ! The most beautiful location for a property on Nantucket I have ever seen. It is magnificent !! Thank you Michael, we hope to come back next year !

Relax & Recharge at Whales Watch

We have been coming to Nantucket for 12 years, 7 of which are at this property - this is our favorite spot on the island! This location is perfectly secluded from the hustle of the crowds, but only a 10 min drive to town for dinner out. The views of the ocean are some of the best on the island. The new property owner has made a lot of updates to the house every offseason with new windows, doors, bedding, and mattresses plus some really well-done painting, couches, lighting and decor. The house is spacious with plenty of room for large families and their guests. There are three full bathrooms on the first floor and 4th full bathroom on the second floor which has been completely updated. There is also an outdoor shower which is a great way to rinse off post-beach. All bedrooms are on the first floor but are spaced out such that no one is on top of one another. The property manager is extremely responsive and friendly, making sure everything needed is in place. The hot tub, added in 2018, is a nice retreat post-beach to unwind. We enjoy breakfasts on the deck, lazy days at the beach or biking on the trails, and grilling in the evening as the sunsets, watching from the deck. Everywhere you look in this house, there are views of the ocean or Tom Nevers Pond. At night, the stars are incredible! We look forward to returning!

Just right for our needs.

For 13 people, ages 9-79, 7 adults 6 youth, this was really as good as we could have asked for. Well located for us. The house was equipped with all the necessary amenities, everything worked well, the place was quite clean, lawn well cared for, etc. The owner was quite considerate and answered our questions if possible.

I'm a Charleston SC-based real estate professional who has been going to Nantucket for over 30 years. I spend many months a year at Whales Watch -- so I'm truly sharing my home with you. It's a special place. I searched for decades to find a special Nantucket property of my own, and I purchased Whales Watch in 2016.

Why they chose this property

Whales Watch Estate has the BEST views I have seen on Nantucket. The property is elevated and right along the water, so not only do you get unobstructed views for miles along the coastline, but you can also see for miles out into the ocean. And with Tom Nevers pond on the other side, there is basically a water view out of every window.

Most mornings you can see seals along the coast or up on the beach, and on rare occasion you can see whales out in the ocean (hence the name). The land is also teeming with wildlife - especially bunnies and deer - as Tom Nevers is tucked away from the busier areas of the island.

The best part of Whales Watch in my opinion is that half of the acreage is a private beach. So between the large lawn and acres of beach/dunes...there is lots of room for guest to spread out and relax.

What makes this property unique

Direct access to owner whose family has been connected to Nantucket over 100 years. The street name was recently changed to "Reeds Way" to honor the Reed family's charitable work on Nantucket. Michael Reed will assist with any special requests during your stay!
