The Evolve team did not send us check-instructions. We called and they were not very helpful because getting to the property was not straightforward. They should have provided a drawing of how to get to the property. The outside door did not have a key and if we had locked it we could have locked ourselves out of the property. A dishwasher was listed as an amenity and there was none. This is a second floor property and has steep steps which was not a problem for us but should be emphasized in the listing. It was also on a very noisy main thourghofare. The property worked ok for us but I cannot say I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We provide detailed directions to the rear driveway entrance and parking area, and we caution guests against relying on GPS since it leads to the busy front street, where overnight parking isn't permitted, so we're sorry the arrival experience felt unclear. The exterior door to this unit is intentionally left unlocked from the outside as it serves as a safety exit and connects to both units for larger group bookings, so a lockout wouldn't have been possible. Regarding the dishwasher, this second-floor unit has never included one, though we're currently exploring adding this amenity in the off-season. We appreciate you noting the stairs and street noise, and we'll look at ways to set clearer expectations for future guests.”

We loved our stay at this property. Everything was clean and they provided plenty of towels, wash cloths and even shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The kitchen while not large served our needs for a vacation kitchen. The layout of the rental is a little quirky and the room doors didn't always latch, but this is to be expected in a rental that was built in 1760. They have a cute little sign on the front door that says this house has seen the revolutionary war. But some of that quirkiness is what made this place very charming. The front room with stain glass is beautiful and the perfect place to work from "home" or to setup your makeup/hair station. Which is what my teenage daughter did. I had some very basic questions for the host and he was always very quick to respond. I was initially a little unclear on the parking situation, but they put up parking signs while we were there. The location in the quiet town of Warren is wonderful. We enjoyed the library next door, and a walk down to town beach at sunset. The bike path is conveniently located at the back of the property and can be access from the parking lot next door. If we had brought bikes, we would have used that a lot. It is also a short drive to Newport and Providence. So there is plenty to do close by.

We're so glad you loved your stay and appreciated all the historic charm this 1760 home has to offer. It's wonderful to hear the stained glass front room found the perfect use, and that the peaceful location in Warren, with the library, town beach, and bike path all nearby, added so much to your visit. We're happy the quick communication and clean, well-stocked space helped make things easy, and that the quirks of an older home added to the character rather than detracted from it. Thank you for such a thoughtful and detailed review, it truly means a lot to us.

From the owner:"Thank you so much for your very gracious review. We were pleased to have had the opportunity to restore this 1760 house to continued use with modern amenities and to share the house with our guests. Since 1760, only two families have lived in it.If you have the opportunity to make a return visit in the future, we would love to see you again. In addition to the unit two you were in, downstairs unit one is especially charming with built-ins, a much larger kitchen with dishwasher, walk-in pantry, a butler's pantry, and a huge all-season enclosed porch. It also features a formal and informal living room, as well as a stained glass window private work office.Although the total size of unit one is larger than that of unit two, its configuration is only for two bedrooms and a maximum of four occupants. However, with advance notice, both units can be reserved together for up to ten adults, and the interior locks can be opened in advance for larger groups or family use."

Great location

I highly recommend this home!! We stayed there as a family of six (2 adults, 4 kids) and had a very comfortable stay. The absolute best part about this place was the location— right on the East Bay bike path and next to a main strip of stores and restaurants. Warren is the best town for restaurants and you are in the middle of all of it. It was very clean. There were window units that kept the place very cool and blackout curtains that made rooms dark. Overall, we had a great experience!

Excellent location and fantastic host!

Stayed here for one week in July. Host was an excellent communicator - I had several questions throughout the stay and Barry and Carol were so quick getting back to me. This house is right in historic Warren. We walked to restaurants, coffee houses, and Dels frozen lemonade. House is located short walk from the biking trail too. I worked remotely while here and wifi was great. Only downside was no dishwasher but I knew that going in. Downstairs is another rental unit and was occupied for a few days of our stay. If I hadn't seen them unloading their car, I would not have known though! Another great positive is that there is dedicated parking behind the house - so no need to parallel park on the street. I would absolutely stay here again.

My family stayed in Warren to visit my daughter, who had just moved here. We like this place for the most part and plan to return.Pros: the location of this rental cannot be beat, just a short walk to numerous restaurants, shops and parks. If you plan to sightsee, it's an easy drive to either Providence or Newport attractions. The house has a well-equipped kitchen. Beds are comfortable. The two living room areas are cozy, and one has lovely old stained glass windows that look out over Main Street. The owner lives next door and is friendly but not intrusive.Cons: the layout of the 2nd floor is odd. One bedroom opens either into another bedroom or into a stairwell that is open to the first floor. The smaller living room/office is across the hall and not really connected to the rest of the spaces. And the stairs to the 2nd floor are very steep and curved. Anyone with mobility issues should choose the 2-bedroom downstairs unit instead.

"Thanks so much for your kind words. We’re glad your family enjoyed the stay and appreciated the location, comfort, and historic charm of the home. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your review, and they wanted to share the following:- The layout of the second floor reflects the home’s 1760 origins. While one bedroom does connect to another, both rooms have locking doors to ensure total privacy.- The hallway outside the main bedroom connects to the living area, office, and stairs, which serve as a secondary emergency exit per modern code. We’ve made intentional updates, including a new safety handrail, to align with current standards while preserving the home’s historic integrity.- We fully agree that the first-floor unit is a better fit for guests with mobility concerns, and we’re glad to offer that option for future visits. Thanks again for the thoughtful feedback. We look forward to welcoming you back!"

This is a very cool house historic house, with all the quirks of an old house. The good: 1. the host Barry was very responsive and helpful, 2. the location made it easy walking distance to the cool parts of Warren, 3. AC was in everyroom which is great in summer. 4. clean upon arrival and the kitchen had most things you would need for a short stay. The things that could be improved: 1. the biggest is the interior security. There are separate upstairs and downstairs units, but the only things that secures them are those weak chain door locks (see pick), and the little bolt style secondary locks didn't actually line up and lock. One of the bedroom doors kept coming ajar b/c the latch wouldn't work. Very creepy to come back into the room when the door would be ajar. This would be an easy fix for the owners to make. They're open to feedback, so hopefully they will soon. 2. The street noise from Main St. right outside can be very loud if the AC unit is not running. That may disrupt sleep for some. 3. The shower drain was totally clogged upon arrival. We were showering with water up to our shins after a few minutes. 4. Fire alarm was chirping when we arrived; would have expected that to be caught during cleaning (though an easy fix).

great location. the POC wasnt answering the call. The parking for the house was hard to find. Not realizing the owner was next door, she saw us searching for the lockpad. Parking is through joyce street and into their private driveway from there. Home is from 1870 era so lots of creeking and doors to room cannot lock and stays ajar. We had to put a luggage behind our door. weird layout but beds are very comfortable. There are lots of restaurant and coffee shops closeby, walking distance; and a small market a block away. We had a rough first day but overall, it did its purpose.

We’re glad to hear you enjoyed our great location within walking distance of local shops and found the beds very comfortable. We appreciate your feedback regarding check-in and the home's historic details. Our on-site team was glad to assist in person to point out the property's parking, and we want to ensure our check-in instructions clearly outline the gated entry to guide guests easily to the lockbox. Our home dates back to 1760, and while its historic character brings a few classic creaks, we have verified that each bedroom door is equipped with a secure privacy chain latch for our guests' comfort. Thank you for sharing your experience with us as we continue to improve future guest stays.
