About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 5 Baths, (Sleeps 21-23)

Welcome to Two Cabins Lodge, located on beautiful Lake Guntersville, in Guntersville, Alabama. Two Cabins Lodge is two pre-civil war log cabins that have been joined together and completely renovated. Made of almost 200 year old square cut logs, some over two (2) feet in width. There is a signature on one wall of the kitchen that presumably belonged to the original builder of the home and is dated August 4, 1859.

From the hardwood floors throughout the upper two levels, to the antique lumber on the ceilings; Two Cabins Lodge has been lovingly and carefully restored, with history preserved and all the modern conveniences added. Two Cabins Lodge has four bedrooms, five baths, and a two-story family room, eat-in kitchen with honed granite countertops, and large bonus room in the basement. Two Cabins Lodge was made for families, with sleeping room for 21 there is even a kid’s sleeping loft featuring built-in bunks for eight (8), with a large play area and TV.

The kitchen cabinets, table ,and all walls not originally made of log have been constructed form barn wood from a barn built in West Virginia in the early 1800's that was disassembled and dry stored. The floors are all made of reclaimed antique lumber, a combination of heart pine and poplar; they have been restored to their original luster. The impressive stair treads are made of solid three-inch thick planks of antique hickory and poplar. Many antique pieces of furniture have been combined with new pieces to make Two Cabins Lodge a wonderfully comfortable get away.

It is our hope that as you enjoy the revival of these awesome pieces of history, you will take time to revive and rejuvenate yourself. We hope that you will consider making this incredible home on the banks of the Tennessee's, Lake Guntersville, your next vacation spot. ****We have High Speed Wireless Internet connection!!!!! •••Brand new 60' Flat Screen HD Smart TV in Family Room, HD Digital Cable including SPORTS PACKAGE!! About Karen Tillery

I am a stay at home mom who dabbles in building and renovation. We found this cabin in dilapidated shape and had a great time fixing it up and adding on to it to make this vacation home.

Karen Tillery purchased this house in 2004

Why Karen Tillery chose Guntersville

It is convenient to our home.

What makes this house unique

We love the peaceful quiet and feeling like we are million miles away.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thanks to you and your wonderful cabins, the Baker family (15) reunited under

the colorful leaves of fall, beside the still quiet lake and inside these warm

nostalgic walls. We take away our fond memories of Thanksgiving dinner

around your table, the cheer around a roaring bonfire on a cool brisk night and

the sound of wind rustling through the trees. Thank you for opening your doors

to us! May this be a welcoming place for many, many more.

Looks Rustic But Luxury Awaits You at Two Cabins Lodge. Lakefront with pool.
average rating of 4.9322033 based on 63 reviews

Nice cabin, but not luxurious. Outside needs better upkeep.

  • 3 of 5

Overall, this house looks like it could be really special with better upkeep. Inside of house was clean and accommodations were generally comfortable. Probably not the owners fault, but house was struck by lightning 5 days before we checked in, and kitchen oven controls were knocked out. Owner told us it was not totally repaired (a part had to be ordered), but it worked for us off and on. Most of the issues were outside, although several of the inside rugs, particularly the rugs in the screened back porch looked to be pretty old and dingy.

The pool was full of leaves and had obviously not been serviced before we arrived. However, the pool was serviced right away after we called to request this. The shower at the pool had the water disconnected as did the outside fish-cleaning sink. Only one of the three light down at the dock were working when we arrived. Much of the outdoor furniture around the pool and down by the dock was either moldy or mildewed and needed cleaning.

We were disappointed to learn after we arrived that the lake around the dock is not suitable to swim in. The water in the inlet where the dock is located is full of weeds growing out of control. We did enjoy using the canoe and kayaks, but once when I did touch the bottom near the dock, the mud was so think I almost lost my sandals to the bottom of the lake. I wish the description had been more clear about the lake conditions. For what it costs to rent Two Cabins, I expected more than this.

Owner's Response: Thank you for letting us know about a few of our outdoor amenities that need some upgrading. During our very busy spring and summer rental seasons, we leave all of our outdoor furniture out and set up for each group and while having it set out all the time makes it easier for guests to enjoy everything, it also means lots of weather exposure to everything as well. We will definitely be cleaning and replacing the items that appear worn or dirty. Summer storms are our biggest nemesis for our pool maintenance. Having our pool in a partially shaded area of the yard is nice for keeping the deck shaded but the pool is a catch basin for all the leaves and pine needles any time we have wind or rain. I apologize that our pool maintenance had not gotten by there before you guys checked in, but I was thankful they were able to get there so quickly for you. The problem with water at the pool shower and fish sink l was a diverter valve on the outdoor spigot that had been turned, had I known that you guys were not able to get the water working at the pool and fish sink, I could have easily directed you as to how to remedy that issue, I am so sorry that I didn't know. As for the lake, I do have information included in our lease agreement that states that our dock is on shallow water and that we don't own or maintain the lake and we can't guarantee the condition of the water. We do pay to have the aquatic weeds in the immediate area of our dock, but beyond that, the condition of the lake is TVA's responsibility. I am sorry that your visit was not all that you thought it would be, I hope that if you are able to visit again, we will be able to make your trip perfect for you.
