Wilson's warm hospitality
This quaint town lies along the Teton Pass in Wyoming and draws in travelers with the promise of outdoor activities, historic attractions, delicious local food and warm hospitality. An early pioneer in the late 19th century was Elijah Nicholas Wilson who, interestingly, had grown up with a Native American tribe in his youth and wrote a book about his experiences. One of the highlights of staying in a Wilson vacation rental is the easy access to the Grand Teton National Park. Its 300,000 or so acres of alpine lakes, mountainous meadows, fertile valleys and towering peaks should not be missed.
Birds of prey in Wilson
For kids of all ages, a visit to the Teton Raptor Center is a must. Located along West Highway 22, the fascinating organization housed in a red barn and run by ecologists, biologists and volunteers helps nurse birds of prey back to full health before releasing them into the wild. Kids will love the resident birds, which can include great horned owls, golden eagles and red-tailed hawks, and which they can see up close. Afterwards, pop into the famous Pearl Street Bagels which serves numerous different varieties of theses delicious East Coast treats.
Rugged and wild
This part of Wyoming is engrossingly rugged and wild, and so is the weather which can see all 4 seasons in one day. While you hike through the might Grand Teton National Park, you'll need to carry warm clothes even in summer. But don't let that put you off embarking on an adventure. When the skies are clear, you can bask in beautiful sunshine and when the weather changes, pull out your camera for awe-inspiring photography opportunities backed by towering granite peaks. Winter is cold, but the hospitality of the people of Wilson is always warm, whatever the season.
The mighty Grand Teton
The Grand Teton National Park encompasses much of the vast Teton Range. It's close to all of the Wilson vacation rentals, and when you arrive you'll be treated to a wild and pristine mountain landscape of bubbling streams, snow-capped peaks and flower covered plains. While grizzly bears, mountain lions and wolves tend to be fairly elusive, it's hard not to miss the huge herds of hardy bison, moose and elk which roam the foothills. Look out for otters playfully swimming along the rivers, beautiful golden mantled ground squirrels and busy beavers.
