Why the Owner Chose Savannah
Once we made the decision to make Savannah our second home, there was never a question of where we would buy - The Landmark Historic District. Although we saw some truly beautiful Victorians at far better prices, we both wanted to live in a home where safety wasn't a concern, where our neighbors were quiet and thougthful, and a lovely square was just a block or so away. When we first began renovating, we looked out our second floor bedroom windows and saw a wedding being held at the base of the sweeping stairs of the house directly across from ours; we knew then we had picked the perfect place!
The Unique Benefits at this House
We love to walk. It's no surprise that one of the things that attracted us to Savannah is its walkability. Within minutes we can be enjoying amazing chocolate chip pancakes at Clary's, browsing through the many shops on Broughton, or testing taffy down by the river. And, if we feel like a little boogie boarding, we're off to Tybee and in the water in 20 minutes. Most importantly, after a fun filled day, we can come home to relax in a private courtyard and enjoy quiet charm of Savannah.
Owner's Map of Savannah
We fell in love with Savannah on our first visit in 1995. Over the years, visit after visit, we knew that we wanted to call this charming city our second home. So, nearly a decade later, we bought our lovely, historic rowhouse right in the heart of the Landmark Historic District on beautiful Jones Street. Having traveled around the world and stayed at many bed and breakfasts, we knew exactly the experience we wanted our guests to have - for The Blue Belle to be a true "home away from home" with luxurious and thoughtful touches. We hope that it is! Although we spend most of our time at our jobs in West Palm Beach, FL, we are lucky enough to get up to our charming second city three or four times a year. Someday we will retire there and live out our days sitting on the patio, a nice glass of wine in hand, and enjoy watching the moss on the large oaks blow in the breeze.

My wife and I stayed at The Blue Belle a few days ago for our anniversary. We don't normally stay in vacation rentals, but this was such a wonderful experience. The house is in a perfect location. We walked to the squares, River Street, and restaurants. It was so nice to come home to a comfortable home instead of a hotel room. The kitchen was a real plus, so that we could make meals or coffee whenever we wanted. I have to say that the house was spotless, had comfortable beds, and was quiet. Highly recommend it to anyone looking to get away to a beautiful place.

My husband and I picked the Blue Belle based on the wonderful reviews. We live in Atlanta and have always had great luck finding accommodations in Savannah. When we arrived the home was very dark and smelled of old smoke. Upstairs was better, the rooms were brighter and more cheerful. The bathroom upstairs however, had carpeting that smelled of urine. I was not sure how long it had been since the greenry or curtains had been cleaned but there was so much dust, no deep cleaning in a long time! Not to mention, the outside area was bleak, most of the beds were only dirt. We contacted the owners immediately and they offered to have someone come to clean the house the next day but we were so disappointed and knew it would take more than one day to have the home ready. They would not refund even a portion of the money we paid in advance. We contacted VRBO and they got us other accommodations. We had to pay for another place and for the Blue Belle even though we did not stay there.
Owner response:We are sorry you were disappointed with your stay. We are sensitive to guests’ specific needs, and, as such, make certain that no smoking or pets are allowed in our home in case of allergies. Nonetheless, we gladly offered to have our cleaning company come out a second time to ensure your complete satisfaction. Because we have not had a previous complaint, we took yours very seriously. After reviewing the situation, and finding the home clean and inviting, we contacted VRBO, who assured us that they “do not help guests find accommodations.” Historic vacation rentals such as ours are a perfect solution for travelers who want to live amidst the charm that a home built in 1875 offers. We hope you found accommodations that were more suited to you and enjoyed the enchantment of Savannah.

We stayed at the Blue Belle when dropping our daughter off at SCAD. We appreciated the fact that it had a garage! The home is very comfortable and our daughter is sure she encountered "Magnolia." Dad had never been to Savannah, so we did lots of walking. Went out to Tybee Island two different days and enjoyed being able to cook locally caught shrimp one night for dinner. Daughter and I drove down and hubby joined us a few days later. His first words were "this place is clean." And it is. It was great to be in the historic area, close to shopping and a Target for those few last minute dorm items. If you get a chance, dinner at Sol was great, too! We missed the Firefly, but plan to go next time we are in Savannah! The only thing I wished the Blue Belle had was internet connection and a TV upstairs. Overall a great stay. We love Jones Street and the Blue Belle!

Took a weekend and went to Savannah with famly- we all loved this house from the second we walked in the door! Had all the comforts of home and loved the fact that there was a full kitchen - only downfall was that the coffee pot was so small! Already having all the linens and towels there was so nice! Water pressure was GREAT - really missed it when we had to come back home! No sign of "Magnolia" while we were there, much to the dismay of the kids. Definitely keeping your information for future visits to Savannah!

Another great stay in Savannah! We were so happy and pleased when we entered The Blue Belle on a perfect evening in Savannah! Our family rented the house for our third son's twenty-third birthday. We were pleased with the huge kitchen and half-bath! Unfortunately, we did NOT get the large bedroom that overlooks the patio area. We gave that disgruntledly to our adult kids. :( The house is a good walk from the hub of the city-but the walk is worth it! My husband and I drank our coffee each day on the patio while waiting for our kids to get moving in the morning-enjoying every minute of it. Needless to say, we were all very sad to leave The Blue Belle on our day of departure. The owners are wonderful people! Thank you so much!
Owner response:Thank you for staying at The Blue Belle! We chose our location on Jones because of the peaceful and quiet atmosphere and yet only a 10 minute walk to Downtown Savannah. We would love to hear from you again sometime.

We really enjoyed our stay last July at the Blue Belle. We've stayed in Savannah before in a hotel and it was much more enjoyable to stay 'in the city' in an old Savannah house. We'll be back!

We absolutely adored the Blue Belle. The location was perfect. If you would rather find a small hotel room closer to the river... be my guest, (you can have the cramped rooms and loud crowds). As for me... well I prefer to be close enough for a short walk to the "action", but just far enough removed to actually enjoy the city... (it's a short but beautiful 8 to 10 minute walk to River Street). The Belle's locale is just right. Live like a local while you're there, have ample of room to relax, and a garage to boot. The beds are extremely comfortable, and the Master bedroom has a huge window overlooking the courtyard. Simply Put... you'll not be dissapointed.
