Experience springtime in Tidewater Virginia and enjoy the crocus, forsythia, daffodils, dogwoods and more blooming in our beautiful gardens at Lisburne! A time for inspiration and renewal. A time to marvel at the kaleidoscope of color that only Spring can bring. A freshness and a new beginning.
An overnight stay at the Blue Bell Cottage offers a chance to experience the beauties of Virginia's "Golden Age" while enjoying the original colonial tavern like those in Colonial Williamsburg.
The cottage has been furnished with exquisite antiques while containing contemporary comforts. Its perfect proportions belie is spaciousness. With a large living room, 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, kitchen, and informal dining area, this is an inviting dwelling place.
A smaller adjacent 1740 Cottage, elegantly appointed as well, is also available. Both houses and the surrounding grounds have been immaculately maintained. Additionally, walking areas with extensive gardens featuring English boxwood, camellias, azaleas, and rhododendron are particularly glorious in the spring. The Cottages at Lisburne are in harmony with nature amidst beautiful gardens and tranquil pastures with our llama, Bojangles, and his dutiful followers, a dozen Dorset sheep.

Enjoyed our stay at the cottage - a highlight was talking to the owner and taking a tour of his wonderful garden. It was also fun to stay in a house similar to the ones seen in the Historic Triangle!

My sister and our families stayed at the Bluebell Cottage and the 1740 House. We had a terrific time. It was like stepping back in time! The garden and the grounds were beautiful. My family and I were in the 1740 House, which my girls described as a doll house. It was perfect for our family of four. Everything was clean and the description was accurate, but the cottage actually went beyond our expectations. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely want to stay in the Blue Bell Cottage or the 1740 House.

Your hospitality was heartwarming. You showered us with little niceties that are very uncommon today, especially the beautiful vase of flowers from your garden. We could not have asked for a better "home" to share a weekend with our friends.

So much was so perfect! Location (its beauty), easy access to Williamsburg, etc. Precious cottage - loved the "interior decorating". Appreciated breakfast supplies on hand. The fresh flower arrangement gladdened our hearts! We even got to visit the "Mary and David Peebles" room at the Abby Aldrige Rockefeller Museum. Fun! Thank you for providing us a "fairy tale" environment.

What a lovely house! My family enjoyed the cottage for 5 days. The cottage was even more beautiful than the pictures. Towels, linens and robes were 5 star quality. I highly recommend this cottage to anyone who would like to stay in a true colonial home full of antiques, beautiful paintings and pictures. If you are a cook, bring your favorite frying pans and your favorite knife. The owners are wonderful with true southern hospitality. My kids were thrilled to be able to play tennis across the road at the owners court. We were less than a half hour from Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown. Also very close to stores but still away from it all. The grounds were gorgeous with the trees and flowers just beginning to bloom. We loved it.
