Rare Creekside Setting at White Horse Cabin

Especially in the late winter and early spring, the sound of rushing water is the first thing to greet you when you step out of your car in front of the cabin.
The warmth of a huge fireplace, the view from floor to ceiling windows to enjoy the forest scene, and the sound of the creek -- it doesn't get much better.
Note: We are located in Fern Valley, Idyllwild's upscale neighborhood just one mile from cabin door to center of town. Pine Cove is not within walkable distance to Idyllwild, so if you want to take advantage of all this quaint town has to offer, yet still experience a quiet setting, Idyllwild is the place to be. We have a fabulous location with great flat access; Town center is an easy walk with shops, restaurants, and museum along the way -- and right on the creek -- a rare find in vacation cabins.
There's lots of great cabins in Idyllwild -- but very few offer our unique creekside setting. Combine that with the luxury of being well set back from the road (another Idyllwild rarity) and privacy from neighbors, and you've really got something special.
White Horse offers a peaceful mountain retreat, one hour from North San Diego County. Huge, inviting fireplace, woodsy setting on the water, and a great deck to take it all in. The view from the small dining table overlooks our deck and beyond to the creek's rocks and small waterfalls. On a quiet day, it's not uncommon to see deer strolling down the creekbed. The cabin's wood interior and huge fireplace provide the expected mountain ambiance, yet this home provides all the modern conveniences. Whether used as a romantic honeymoon venue, a fun-filled family retreat, or just a cozy cabin getaway, this place is special.
This classic mountain cabin occupies over a half acre of fenced horse facilities, making this a very unique property. And yes, there really is a white horse at White Horse Cabin (30-year-old Stanlee, but he belongs to the owners and only visits when they are in residence!) However, guests with and without horses will enjoy the home's unique privacy, yet close proximity to all that Idyllwild has to offer.
This home is much loved and used by its owners, thus providing our guests an instant feeling of 'home' instead of 'rental.' Idyllwild is a very special place, with an atmosphere that is getting very hard to find in Southern California. Guest comments routinely remark on our home's ambiance, privacy, huge deck and creekside setting.
This is a very family-friendly town, where kids can paint and fire ceramics at a local shop, attend fun/educational events at the County's Nature Center just outside of town, visit the skate park, or explore the creek right outside your back door at White Horse. Mom and dad can enjoy fine or casual dining, see a first-run movie, listen to live music any night of the week, or check out the Idyllwild museum showcasing the area's rich cattle country/mining heritage.

Whenever we need to escape to the serenity of Idyllwild, we stay at White Horse Cabin. It's clean, quiet, fairly private, and it feels so homey and comfortable. This cozy place is very well stocked and has all the conveniences we need. We love the wrap around deck where we just gaze at the towering trees and feed the jays and squirrels. Several steps down the back of the property end up right next to the creek where there are two chairs provided. Getting to town is an easy walk. The owners are very friendly and have left several helpful directions and notes throughout the cabin. We've tried several places to stay in Idyllwild and this is our favorite.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: So glad you enjoyed your stay, Eve. Hope to accommodate you in the future. Thanks, Kathy

Last minute weekend getaway to enjoy a snow storm was made all that more perfect in this amazingly quaint A-frame log cabin!!! Everything was so clean and cared for! Kathy was so sweet to arrange rental and work with! We can't wait to come back during spring or summer to enjoy deck and gorgeous creek right in the backyard!! Our dog thoroughly enjoyed the adventure as well! I couldn't have imagined a better house to stay at for our mini vacation!!Recommended for: Pet owners, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

What a great place! It was just what our family of 4 needed! The cabin is close to all. The cabin has everything you will need, just bring food and drink. The deck is huge and the creek behind the cabin is a perfect place to sit and relax. Our boys, 8 and 10 explored the creek for hours. The restaurants is town are wonderful and kid friendly. The hiking in the area is supurb! I want this place for my own!Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

This cabin was a true gem! Set back nicely from the road, this private little cabin was perfect for our family vacation. With two very young children, it was the perfect setting to simply relax and enjoy the setting. The full kitchen made cooking meals so convenient, and the linens provided made packing a breeze. We absolutely loved keeping a fire going in the gorgeous fireplace & the kids loved watching squirrels down by the creek. We will definitely be back!Recommended for: Pet owners, families with young children, romantic getaway.

From the moment we pulled in the driveway (with two horses and two dogs).. we were in heaven. All you could hear was the rushing of the water and waterfalls out back and it smelled like heaven out! We got the horses all tucked in into the AWESOME pasture which they loved, and then let ourselves in the cabin. WOW.. it is super cute, very charming, and seriously lacked nothing. Everything we could have needed was there. The dogs loved it! We took a walk on the stream every morning, mid day and twilight. The porch was dreamy, with the large chairs and overlooked the stream. Mind you, we had a lot of rain/snowfall this year, so I'm not sure if the stream runs so strong all of the time, but it was wonderful. We took the horses riding each day (trailored out.. not really a lot of riding from the cabin, but each riding trail was within 10-15 minutes). Anyway, we will be back! Kathy, you have an amazing gem there, and I sure hope you don't mind that I spread the word! (ps.. we left our halters there..:( ... a perfect excuse to have to return soon! Seriously though, perfect cabin... horses or not.Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

About the owner: We wanted a close-by retreat from our North San Diego County Home--someplace we could enjoy ourselves, plus share with others.
Why the Owner Chose Idyllwild:
We searched for mountain horse property for a long time--it's rare in Idyllwild. The size of the lot, plus the fabulous creek setting was irresistable!
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
White Horse Cabin has that location, location, location wow factor. The woods, the water, the classic A-frame cabin. After a few quiet moments on that deck overlooking the water, picturing our horses content in the big shaded paddock out front--we were hooked.
