Why the Owner Chose Aquinnah
We built the house we are renting because our family was growing, we wanted to be able to visit Aquinnah off-season when our old summer cottage is not habitable, and we had always wanted to participate in the design of a house.

Seclusion, being part of the unique community life of Aquinnah, swimming in the ocean and Menemsha pond, sailing, kayaking, eating fresh seafood, enjoying the amenities and quirks of island life.
Owner's Map of Aquinnah
Gardner Brown is a semi-retired environmental economist and Victoria Farr Brown is a writer of fiction. They live in Seattle when not in Martha's Vineyard. Gardner has come to Martha's Vineyard since he was born, as have our sons. Victoria first visited the island in 1964. While in Aquinnah in the summer, we stay either in the new house that we are renting with this ad or our old cottage, built in 1954.

Loved the simplicity and beauty of the house, and the lovely surroundings — the kitchen was wonderful, so much fun to cook in, and liked the openness of kitchen and living room; front porch was a delight, as was the second floor porch. Ocean beach access and kayaks really sold us on the place. They both add tremendous dimension.
