This exceptionally well decorated three bedroom, two bath home with a Jacuzzi and Air Conditioning. "The Pineapple House" was named by our Neighbors as we totally remodeled and modernized this classic Plantation House, including many Pineapple accents. This is your "Beach House" located on the East Coast of Kauai, just a short stroll to Wailua Beach (used in the Ben Stiller Film, Tropic Thunder) and next to world famous Coco Palms, the setting for the movie "Blue Hawaii" with Elvis Presley.

The Pineapple House is located next to one of the most sacred places on the island, the birthplace of the Kings and Queens of Kauai. Channel 3, the Kauai Visitor Information Channel has a 90 minute introduction to Kauai that features this Heiau.

Just steps from The Pineapple House, enjoy the Wailua River, a sacred river to the ancient Hawaiians, with it's beautiful sunrises and sunsets and water sports readily available: kayaking, water skiing and wake boarding. Popular Wailua River destinations are Fern Grotto, one of Kauai's signature attractions with a Hawaiian Village along the way and further up the river access to the trail to Secret Falls, one of Kauai's top 10 adventures.

A five minute drive to Lydgate Park, a family favorite with a rock-rimmed pool excellent for swimming, rafting, and floats of all kinds. The pool is one of the best year round snorkeling spots on Kauai, for families of brightly colored fish feed along the rocky perimeter, so tame they almost swim into your hands.

The beach south Lydgate's lava rock pools is ideal for long walks, very beautiful and almost deserted. You can walk for miles on soft, fine sand perfect for walking, and you will have spectacular views of Kauai's coastline, particularly when sunrise or sunset paints the sky with gold and orange, and deepens the blues of the ocean.

Wailua Golf Course, rated the #1 Municipal Golf Course in the USA is a three minute drive away with mountain and ocean views.

Restaurants within walking distance are: Kintaro's, Kauai’s best Japanese restaurant, a must if you are looking for delicious food in an attractive, comfortable setting; Monico's Mexican Restaurant, Meme's Thai Restaurant and Coconut Marketplace has many small eateries, as well as, shopping!

Discover quaint eateries in Kapaa, the greatest concentration of restaurants on Kauai and only a mile from The Pineapple House. Favorite islander eateries in Kapaa are: Mermaids - with fresh, local ingredients making the chicken / fish wraps and tacos so good! Country Kitchen has the best Macadamia nut pancakes. Olympia Café has yummy pancakes, as well, adding banana to the Macadamia nuts.

Opaeka'a Falls, one of the most beautiful waterfalls on Kauai, are just up the road and easily seen from an overlook off of Kuamo'o Road. Walk across the road from the lookout point and up the hill for another great vantage point.

The home is a rare legal vacation renal on Kauai and is currently listed for sale - We expect any purchaser would want to preserve this status as it creates income in a 2nd home and has enormous tax benefits. Please contact us for purchase information.

Why the Owner Chose Wailua

When We bought the home it was to live in full time. We loved the location next to the Beach and the Wailua River and one of the most sacred places on the island, the HOLO HOLO KU Heiau, birthplace of the Kings and Queens of Kauai.

We turned the home into a vacation rental when we were transferred bck to California.

The Unique Benefits at this House

Walk to the only navagible river in the state of Kauai or walk to the Beach at Wailua Bay. Live like a native in this exclusive community.

Owner's Map of Wailua

We were luckey enough to get transferred to Hawaii to get a taste for living in Paradise full time. While living in this home, my decorator wife completely remodeled the home and grounds. The result is a completly modern Plantation house with everything new, including copper pipe, water softner and other creature comforts. We got transferred back to California and are now able to spend more time with our Grandchildren and we get back to Kauai every chance we get.

    • To all who are looking for that dream Hawaiian vacation, look no further! The Pineapple House is everything and more as described by it's owners. Every single room is beautifully and tastefully decorated, and still, with all of its elegance, there is an uncompromised warmth which made me feel as though I was "home" during my stay. The landscaping is gorgeous, and I cannot imagine a more beautiful setting for a vacation or honeymoon. The Pineapple House is centrally located on the island, which makes doing all the fun tourist stuff that much easier. I was lucky enough to stay here for my first visit to Kauai, and cannot recommend it highly enough. Everything you would ever wish to find in an island holiday is all right here at the Pineapple House. I guarantee you'll have no regrets if you choose this as your next vacation spot - I'm in the process of booking my 2009 trip now!

    • What a beautiful house, you feel right at home, everthing you need is there and the area surrounding you from every doorway makes it feel spacious and inviting you don't know whether to be inside or out. Both my husband and I had a spirtual connection to this place and had the best dreams ever, when we were there. We will definatly be back to the Pineapple house!

This was our home when we were fortunate enough to live on the Beautiful Island of Kauai. We were visitors to the island for over 30 years before we moved here. My wife (an Interior Decorator) and I spent 2 years completely remodeling this home and yard. We think it is now the perfect balance of indoor/outdoor living with French Doors from each bedroom and the kitchen to private covered Lanais. The home is known as the Pineapple House due to the Pineapple accents and lighting throughout the home. Several times while we were working on the home local neighbors (complete strangers) stopped by to tell us how much they loved how we were lovingly restoring this plantation house. The Pineapple house is centrally located on the Royal Coconut Coast with a view of the Coconut Grove (2,000 trees) of the Coco Palms resort from the front deck, living room and kitchen. The last Queen of Kauai actually stayed at the Coco Palms resort as did Elvis Presley on several occasions. The wedding scene from "Blue Hawaii" was filmed there, accross the street from the Pineapple House. House Guests of ours when we lived here told us of their spiritual connection with the Island due to its location next to the Holo Holo Ku Heiau, the birthplace of Kauai's Royalty. Since we were transferred back to California we miss the view of both the sunrise and the moonrise through the coconut trees from the front deck or Kitchen window. Please enjoy your stay and tell others of this most unspoiled Hawaiian Island.
