We fly to Hawai several times per year and have found the best prices at AAA Travel for Airfare/Car package (no we don't get a commission). My wife and I completely remodeled this classic plantation home when we lived on Kauai full time. Everything is new, including the remodeled Kitchen with marble counters and backsplash, new appliances, French doors from every room to private Lanais. Jacuzzi tub in the main bathroom. Modern washer and dryer. Outdoor Gourmet BBQ near kitchen pass-through window.

East Side Advantages: Most of the permanent residents live on the East Side as it is centrally located, has the best beach for keki (children) and has the best selection of restaurants and shopping.
The East side is also not too hot (like Poipu in the South) and not too wet (like Princeville in the North).

To our past and future Guests: Kathy and I just returned from our working trip to the Pineapple House to make some repairs and improvements (we now have another sink in the Laundry room / 2nd bath). We wanted to send out a big Mahalo (Thank you) for how wonderful our guests have taken care of the Pineapple House. We must admit we were apprehensive about turning our home over to strangers after we invested a not-so-little fortune remodeling it as we had intended to live there in our retirement. When we see how well the home is cared for as well as the thoughtfulness of the guests in leaving beach toys, etc. for future guests we just really appreciate it. We were here for a belated Honeymoon as well...wonderful house which is the understatement of the year! Having a stocked kitchen is a vacation to me since we cooked every day. We plan to visit Kauai again....with the hope of experiencing this home again. It's great for any group as well! Thanks for putting in time to make this house so special. We cam before Christmas and stayed here at the Pineapple House on Kauai. My parents & Brother came from Georgia. I live in Hilo on the Big Island. I found Pineapple House on VRBO.com. Aside from visiting the Hindu Monestary, we drove around the island to take in the sites as awll as took a helicopter tour which was breathtaking! The weather unfortunately caused us to cancel our NaPali rafting boat tour (Owner: The North Shore weather and sea can be very unstable in the winter), but the Sun did eventually come out long enough to hit the beach for a couple hours. I highly recommend the Blue Hawaiian helicopter tour. Pineapple House has been an absolute paradise! The comfy beds, tasteful decor and gorgeous kitchen was all well maintained and stocked with everything you could need. I love the tile work in the Kitchen and the baths! And then there's the landscaping outside the house: beautiful!! Sitting at any one of the many outdoor seating areas was an unequaled Joy! This was our First family vacation in over 15 years and the first vacation for our newly expanded family as well. It was also the 1st time most of us met our newest member, Kaitlynn, who is a mere 9 mos. old! The weather was perfect, sunny everyday, and your lovely home was our home for many wonderful days. It was an unforgettable trip with so many adventures, stories, and memories we will hold dear always. We go back home to all our corners of the world but we all go back with an experience of a lifetime. Thank you Kauai adn thank you Pineapple House for a journey that was absolutely priceless. P.S. We LOVED our stay at the Pineapple House (2 couples and a fifth adult friend). The house is steps from the River and the beach, and a great spot from which to launch all your Kauai adventures. Great restaurants & shops nearby, but the house is in a relatively quiet neighborhood, with a really homey feel. Everything you need is right there. The hot tub was a particularly welcome feature after some challenging waterfall hikes through slippery, muddy trails, as the weather was a little cooler and wetter then it usually is - it was February, after all. The Pineapple decor was not kitschy, just enough to let you know you wet in Hawaii. Internet was fast and reliable, gas grill made cooking in a treat. Only small downside is that the 2nd bathroom (off the laundry room & garage, not immediately easy to find when we got there) doesn't have a sink, so we all had to brush teeth and such in the main bath. But the house was spacious, well appointed, and it was so cool that each room had it's own access to outside private "hang-out" space. And it was really nice to have access to a good supply of beach towels, mats, various snorkel stuff, etc., so we could just hit the beach when we got there. We highly recommend the house for your vacation!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children, sightseeing, tourists without a car.

About the owner: We were lucky to be transferred to Hawaii after being visitors to Kauai for over 35 years. We bought and remodeled this classic plantation home over the next few years before we were transferred back to California :-(.
Why the Owner Chose Other Wailua Properties:
We loved the location of this house, so close to the beach, the Wailua River and restaurants and shopping. It was close to the resorts we used to stay at when we first started coming to Kauai in the '70's.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We love relaxing in the yard either in the evening as we watch the moon rise through the coconut trees by the coast or cooking at the BBQ while our family is all together at the outdoor dining table.
