We fly to Hawaii several time per year and have found the best prices for an Airfare/Car package at Costco Travel 877-849-2730 (no, we don't get a commission).
This exceptionally well decorated three-bedroom, two-bath home with a Jacuzzi and Air Conditioning. "The Pineapple House" was named by the locals while we totally remodeled and modernized this classic Plantation House, due to the many Pineapple accents. This is your "Beach House" located on the East Coast of Kauai, just a short stroll to Wailua Beach (used in the Ben Stiller Film, Tropic Thunder) and next to world famous Coco Palms, the setting for the movie "Blue Hawaii" with Elvis Presley. Summer 2010 Pirates of the Caribean -4 is being filmed on island.
The Pineapple House is located next to one of the most sacred places on the island, the birthplace of the Kings and Queens of Kauai. Channel 3, the Kauai Visitor Information Channel has a 90 minute introduction to Kauai that features this Heiau.
Just steps from The Pineapple House, enjoy the Wailua River, a sacred river to the ancient Hawaiians, with it's beautiful sunrises and sunsets and water sports readily available: kayaking, water skiing and wake boarding. Popular Wailua River destinations are Fern Grotto, one of Kauai's signature attractions with a Hawaiian Village along the way and further up the river access to the trail to Secret Falls, one of Kauai's top 10 adventures.
A five minute drive to Lydgate Park, a family favorite with a rock-rimmed pool excellent for swimming, rafting, and floats of all kinds. The pool is one of the best year round snorkeling spots on Kauai, for families of brightly colored fish feed along the rocky perimeter, so tame they almost swim into your hands.
Lydgate's lava rock pools are ideal for long walks, very beautiful and almost deserted. You can walk for miles on soft, fine sand perfect for walking, and you will have spectacular views of Kauai's coastline, particularly when sunrise or sunset paints the sky with gold and orange, and deepens the blues of the ocean.
Wailua Golf Course, rated the #1 Municipal Golf Course in the USA is a three minute drive away with mountain and ocean views.
Restaurants within walking distance are: Kintaro's, Kauai’s best Japanese restaurant, a must if you are looking for delicious food in an attractive, comfortable setting; Monico's Mexican Restaurant, Meme's Thai Restaurant and Coconut Marketplace has many small eateries, as well as, shopping!
Discover quaint eateries in Kapaa, the greatest concentration of restaurants on Kauai and only a mile from The Pineapple House. Favorite islander eateries in Kapaa are: Mermaids - with fresh, local ingredients making the chicken / fish wraps and tacos so good! Country Kitchen has the best Macadamia nut pancakes. Olympia Café has yummy pancakes, as well, adding banana to the Macadamia nuts.
Opaeka'a Falls, one of the most beautiful waterfalls on Kauai, are just up the road and easily seen from an overlook off of Kuamo'o Road. Walk across the road from the lookout point and up the hill for another great vantage point.

Why the Owner Chose Wailua River Lots
When We bought the home it was to live in full time. We loved the location next to the Beach and the Wailua River and one of the most sacred places on the island, the HOLO HOLO KU Heiau, birthplace of the Kings and Queens of Kauai.
We turned the home into a vacation rental when we were transferred bck to California.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Walk to the only navagible river in the entire state ofHawaii or walk to the Beach at Wailua Bay. Live like a native in this exclusive community.
Two of our favorite restaurants on the Island when we lived here full time.
This is one of the locations used for the movie Tropic Thunder. Watch Kite Surfers, or enjoy the beach.
Site of the Coco Palms resort and 2,000 coconut tree grove. Location of Elvis' wedding in Blue Hawaii. The resort is being redesigned after damage from Iniki in 1993.
With a roadside lookout, this is one of Kauai's most accessible major waterfalls.
Kamokila Hawaiian Village is located on the banks of the Wailua River. It long served as a fishing village for Kauai's royalty.
Lovely Beach and shaded assembly area along with several breakwater pools for all levels of swimmers, from keiki (babies) to snorkelers. Just South of the Kamalani Playground.
Many of our Guests say the best Shave Ice on the Island is in the Kapaa Post Office center - from 1:30 PM @ kiosk
One of the most sacred places on the island. The birthing stone was used was for the future Kings and Queens of the island. Litterally adjacent to the Pineapple House.
Owner's Map of Wailua River Lots
We were luckey enough to get transferred to Hawaii to get a taste for living in Paradise full time. While living in this home, my decorator wife completely remodeled the home and grounds. The result is a completly modern Plantation house with everything new, including copper pipe, water softner and other creature comforts. We got transferred back to California and are now able to spend more time with our Grandchildren and we get back to Kauai every chance we get.

We stayed here over the Christmas holidays and we couldn't have found a better spot. The Pineapple house is centrally located, handy to both the south and the north of the island. Facilities were clean and tastefully decorated. Beds are very comfortable and a crib was provided for our grandson. Kitchen is modern with dishwasher, microwave, all small appliances too. Kathy ensured we had a full supply of spices. There is no need for you to bring beach towels or chairs, snorkeling gear, paddle boards, and even sand pails and shovels for the baby. It is all here! The beach is just a walk away. Shopping is just down the road, about 10 minute walk from the house. And after a day of sunshine and sunbathing you can relax in the hot tub. It was all we had hoped it would be. Thanks Jack and Kathy!
Owner response:The Jones' actually had a family reunion of sorts over the Christmas Holiday as they came from two Canadian provinces and Japan. They were wonderful guests and we appreciate them and the thoughtfulness they showed to us and to future guests. Many of our guests leave snorkel gear behind as it is cheaper to buy it if you use it for several days than to rent from one of the many rental places on the Island. That is one unique thing about renting a home instead of a hotel room. Mahalo Jones Family, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay.

Leaving the heat wave of the Midwest behind in Ann Arbor, Michigan we arrived in Beautiful Kauai. The Kids (ages 9 & 11) thought Pineapple House was a cooler name than something like the Coconut House. Surfing at hanalei Bay dominated our stay. Snorkeling at Poipu, Anini and Ke'e (this was spectacular) watching Soul Surfer (the Bethany Hamilton movie) at Poipu beach (open air). Visited the exquisite Hindu (Shiva) temple up Kuamoo Road and the Limahuli Gardens, Kilauea Lighthouse, and Kayaking up the Wailua River (3 houses away) and hiking to secret falls were some of the highlights. We sighted cardinals, the Red footy boohey at Kilauea, green sea turtles at Poiput and...Oh, how could I forget the many visits boogie boarding at Kealia. Mahalo - We hope to be back soon. [Owner note - This guest really took advantage of our central location - They saw most of this beautiful Island in such a short time.]

We found the house beautifyl and comfortable. Central location allowed us to explore from Ke'e to Koke'e. Favorite things were boogy boarding at Kealia Beach (other thoughtful guests have left several boards), hicking the coconut coast bike trail, hiking the Maha' Ulepu Heritage Trail, seeing the Heiaus of Wailua, learning about traditional fishing and agriculture at Kamokila. Also, just up Kuamo'o rd. - the inspiring Hindu Temple and beautiful Kuilau Ridge Trail. 2 visits to Kilauea lighthouse and reserve & the facinating Limahulu Garden. Our quiet, green flight with wings over Kauai was unparalleled. Besides the chickens, we saw a resting Hawaiian Monk seal at Salt Pond Beach, Green Sea Turtles in the surf east of Shipwreck Beach and humpbacks off Kilauea. The Pineapple House was like a home to us here as we experienced an ideal vacation. "just another day in Paradise..."

Truly Everything One Could Want When Visiting Kauai

This is our first trip ever to the Hawaiian Islands. We chose Kauai for it's quiet feel and natural hawaiian beauty. We are staying here at this lovely little plantation, pineapple house. The feel of the house is very hawaiian, which is why I chose this home by the photos on vrbo. When we arrived, our kids couldn't wait to see inside and they were the first to find their rooms and check out everything. Unfortunately the weather does not seem to cooperate with the time period we will be here so, I am very thankful for this house. It has enough room for our family of 5 (11, 14 &16 yrs) to spread out and relax. The grounds are lovely and the hot tub is a favorite due to the unfortunate weather. The entire house/yard is fenced, so it gives a protective feel. Although it's rainy, it is still warm and humid and we can still be outside under the porch/pergolas. The 3 beds are all very comfortable and clean! The kitchen has everything you need and it is close enough to food stores. It is situated just off a small highway, so during the day it is busy, but at night not so much. It is quite centrally located on the island of Kauai, but a vehicle is recommended to tour around the island, both north and south. I absolutely love hearing the roosters "cook a doodle doos"and seeing both roosters and chickens prancing around the island like they own it! I love it here and if I could, I'd move right in...Thank you sharing your home with us!
Owner response:Monica and Family, We are so glad you are enjoying the Pineapple House. At least the rain is warm and it's not snow! We hope you enjoy the rest of your stay during the holidays and that you have nice weather when you get back to Canada. Did you find the guest book in the home where we recommend restaurants for those times when you don't want to cook? We really like Monico's Mexican food (and we used to own a Mexican restaurant) about one block North on Kuhio highway past the Shell station. Regards, Jack and Kathy

It was God sent for us to be here...The charming beach theme decor, the cozy bedrooms, the lush tropical landscape...It was all here, just as we had pictured it. It brought us all closer together with our young adult sons and their girl friends. What more could a person want. Mahalo, (We'll be back)
