We arrived for our family reunion. The home is perfect for at most 8 people , 6 of whom must share the VERY comfortable beds. One thing needs to be up front: cell service is erratic. Don't depend on it. BUY A PHONE CARD to use the land line and tell your important callers the #. ............The home is clean , neat and better than any hotel. The fully stocked kitchen really helped, esp we brought our own food. Recommendation? Definitely.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

The location was perfect; between Zion and Bryce National Parks. We met up with our friends who were also visiting the parks. We enjoyed being in a place where we were able to visit, share stories and play some cards. The dogs enjoyed the big yard and we enjoyed taking in the fresh air and views from both the front and back porches. This time of year, many of the restaurants are closed for the season, however, the weather was perfect for touring the parks with pets. Having the availability of the laundry room was a plus. Betty was readily available to address any needs we had. Thank you Betty & Jeremy !!!Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers.

We just had a short 2 night stay. We really enjoyed the house. The house was clean and had all the things we needed. Beds are comfortable, and the kitchen area was well stocked. The outside area was very beautiful. We wished we had more time enjoy just around the house. Thank you for offering your house.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

This was the perfect home away from home for our two families. The kids enjoyed being outside and feeding apples to the horses in the adjacent pasture. The owners are very helpful and the home is comfortable with all necessities, including a washer/dryer. We especially enjoyed the garden and even baked pies with fresh peaches and apples we picked from the trees in the yard. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, pots, etc., but if you plan to cook much we suggest shopping at a grocery story in one of the bigger towns. The location can't be beat for travel to Zion, Bryce and the north rim of the Grand Canyon. A visit to the Best Friends Animal Society, just outside of Kanab, is a much. The work done there with companion animals is amazing. Try the Buffalo Bistro, a mile or so away in Glendale. Doesn't look like much from the road but our meal was just outstanding. If you go to Kanab, the Rocking V is a mandatory stop. It's a terrific restaurant for all but creatively thinks about vegetarian and vegan diners. Many thanks to the owners for making this wonderful home available for others to enjoy.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers.

This remodeled old farmhouse is adorable. It is wonderful having such comfy beds and having enough for all the members of our family. This house was in a perfect location for our visits to Zion Canyon, Bryce Canyon and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. The porch swing and the Basketball Court were appreciated by our family. Mom also appreciated the well-stocked kitchen and newer appliances. Thank you!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

This was our second stay at The Homeplace; we came down for the Bryce Canyon Astronomy Festival and to view the annular solar eclipse from Zion (even when there is no eclipse, Bryce offers exceptional "dark ranger" programs and stargazing with huge telescopes during the summer). Our family has really enjoyed the beautiful setting, close proximity to parks, and comfort of The Homeplace. We have stayed at several places in the Zion/Bryce area; and this has been the favorite by far. There is a lot of 'romping' room on the property for kids to explore, the sounds of the country are all around you -- it is a green oasis in the desert (I'd love to see the apple trees when they are full of ripe apples!). We loved roasting marshmallows and star-gazing. The home is over a hundred years old, but is well-maintained, and has such a wonderful history. The home is very clean, and the beds are very comfortable. The kitchen is fully stocked with utensils/appliances (except a dishwasher - but I consider this an opportunity to keep things simple and enjoy eating out more)- just bring food (but if you are planning to visit Zion and/or Bryce, definitely visit their lodges for meals). Betty and Jeremy are extremely nice and easy to work with. If you are looking for serenity and a home-away-from-home, then definitely make this little slice of Western Americana your choice when considering your trip to Southern Utah.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

We stayed at the "Home Place" April 1-7, 2012. I was very happy with the home, it's older but the owners have updated and decorated it to be very homey. I loved the large dining table where we were able to seat 8 people, it's great to sit down and enjoy meals together and laugh and have fun. As far as kitchen items and other household items you may need, they had it all...... good to know for next time, I can pack a little less. There's even a library of DVD's with kid and family choices. We visited Bryce Canyon, Zion Park and spent 2 additional days trail riding on OHV's. The Home Place is in a great location with easy access to the local sights. I would caution anyone thinking about brings pets, this property is located on a major road (Hwy 89) and there are no fences.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, adventure seekers.

Our family of 4 spent a week enjoying this nice home. It had all the amenities (no dishwasher - but not a big deal for us) that we needed and the owners were a pleasure to deal with. Jeremy even gave us some suggestions of paths behind the house to hike up to which was fun. We made day trips from the cabin to both Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National park both of which were about 45 mins-1 hour away and amazing. It's a reasonable drive for the day, and the Homeplace was a great alternative for us to a hotel. We had some concerns with the presence of neighboring dogs while on the property (our kids are not dog lovers) which I made the owner aware of and she did her best to address our concerns immediately which I really appreciated. The home itself was in very good condition for its age, bathrooms renovated and new laundry facilities. I would expect the yard to be especially nice in the summer with so many apple trees in the yard. I would recommend this property to those looking a comfortable, modest lodging between both parks but with a beautiful view all it's own right from the front door.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners.

Property pictures were much better than the actual property. There was to be propane and firewood available...not available, and when we called the numbers provided for assistance, three times...no response the entire weekend. We had to drive a distance to find a location open, to provide propane and firewood...and our dinner was ruined because everything was ready to eat, except what was to be cooked on the grill...because there was no propane. Had hoped that this would be an annual destination for our family, but the disappointment in the availability of the owner and/or delegate, we will not be returning. Also, the fire stove in the living area was 'perched' on a stack of bricks that continued to fall on to the floor, they were not secured with any mortar or adhesive. Our 3 year old grandchild had one of the bricks fall out as she was walking by and she fell and landed on the other bricks, tearing up her arm...very dangerous for anyone with children, particularly if the stove had been fired up, she would have fallen into the hot fireboxRecommended for: Pet owners.
Owner response: After three years, our first negative review. We now keep an extra propane bottle handy for safe measure. Firewood is kept at the home, or drive one mile south to purchase more. The brick has been secured. As home owners we do our very best to please (as mentioned in other reviews), this two-night stay is not typical of our successful business.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2009
About the owner: We are thrilled to own this home Jeremy himself lived in as a small child. His father Roger also grew up in the home, one of eight children of Cornell and Sylvia Chamberlain. It has been a journey to renovate the home, a fond process of discovery. It is indeed a special place to call home. This 'Homeplace' has brought such over-flowing joy to so many that we love and we are delighted to share that joy with you.
Why the Owner Chose Bryce Canyon National Park:
The location is one of the most beautiful on earth! The charm associated with a home that is over a hundred years old is incredible. The two of these features combined made the purchase of this home irresistable.
