This apartment rental is a first class apartment. It has recently been painted and tiled and furnished with exquisite furniture and Limoges dishes as a self-catering holiday rental with a pool. It is located in the romantic town of Cassis on the Mediterranean sea, part of the French Riviera, in the heart of the Provence region and close to the Lubéron.
The area is a paradise for vacations. For gamblers, the town has a Las Vegas style Casino.
This apartment rental has two bedrooms with queen-size beds and one bedroom with a bunk bed. It has two and a half bathrooms. It sleeps six. The building has a pool which is available to renters and plenty of parking. You also get a free Internet connexion.
The apartment is at a seven minutes walk from the town center, the Casino & the beaches.
The ocean view from the living room& the balcony is gorgeous: you see the old harbour, the 12th century castle and the 380 meter cliff (Cap Canaille).
Cassis is well known for the Calanques (Fjords in Norse) in the white cliffs between Cassis and Marseille. The old harbor is the prettiest harbor on the French Riviera, more so than Saint-Tropez, Bandol, Sanary or Monaco.
Hiking in the surrounding hills is one of the favorite pastimes. The trails in the pine forests follow the cliffs around the Calanques: breath taking.
You can also spend the afternoon, sipping French coffee at one of the outdoor cafés on the piers. At night, you have the choice of restaurants for a romantic evening in Cassis.
Cassis is in the heart of Provence, 30 minutes from Marseille and Aix-en-Provence, 60 minutes from Arles & Avignon, 90 minutes from Cannes/Nice.
The town produces an excellent white wine; wineries are all over town.

I was born in Provence and I always had loved the little harbor of Cassis.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
If you like the Mediterranean and the Calanques, Cassis is the place for you.
Santa Maria's building. The entrance number 2 is located at the end of the parking area.
Here you can find your daily bred, prepared dishes, wines,... It is a bit pricey but convenient.
Take this path to go down to the town center and the beaches.
Your 3rd key, part of your key set, open the iron gate at the bottom of these stairs. When you want to walk down to town, use this short-cut.
Cassis' train station is on the main line Marseille-Nice which connects all the cities on the French Riviera. To visit Arles or Avignon, you have to get a transfer in Marseille.
5 Rue Pasteur. 06 89 44 27 46 Eat Couscous on Friday or Saturday nights. Do not call, be there around 7:00PM to be sure you will be served.
Go to Marche U (small super marchet) for most of your essentials: grocery, kitchen and bathroom products.
Huge mall where you can find Food, Groceries in Auchan hyper market.
This is a large Super market very close from the apartment. You will find there everything you need. This is not a mall.

We stayed just ahead of Christmas when Cassis was exceptionally (and unusually!) cold, but the apartment was beautifully warm. There are three good-sized, comfortable bedrooms and a large sitting room with large balcony. Full length windows show off the fantastic view over the town of Cassis and out to sea, with the Cap Canaille and the harbour clearly visible. Superb - even in winter, sitting inside with a glass of something, it was a pleasure just to gaze out at the view. The property was spotlessly clean and is well-equiped. Cassis in winter is quieter than summer and some of the restaurants are closed but it is still a busy little place with lots of life. The wonderful Friday market takes place as usual and, right in the middle of all the stalls, a skating rink had been set up outside the Mairie. And there was even snow - not the real stuff but a whole roundabout on the way into Cassis had been decorated with faux snow and a Christmas tree! The property owner had provided excellent information about the apartment and about Cassis, etc, before hand. Everything was very efficient both before and after our visit. I would be happy to recommend the property. And, having previously visited Cassis in spring and summer, I can now confirm it is a great all-year-round destination!
Owner response:Indeed it was a cold winter even for Cassis. Thank you for your kind comments; I thrive to have my renters happy with their stay.

Beautiful view (exactly like photos) and well furnished apartment. Short, but steep walk from town, so not recommended for those with limited mobility. New appliances, comfortable and quiet. Lacking only a way to play our music and weren't able to dial out on land-line phone. Wifi and TV worked very well. Very attentive and helpful owner and lots of good information available. We especially appreciated the restaurant recommendations. We'll definitely try to get back there soon.

Owner response:Radios do not work well because of poor reception in Cassis but I will try to see if I can get an IPod connection. As far as the phone is concerned, it is restricted to local call. I am currently investigating an Internet phone set-up. Thank you, Sara. Roland

My husband and I rented this lovely apartment in Cassis for the first week of August. After a 15 hour drive from Frankfurt, we couldn't have found a more perfect place to relax. The apartment itself is spacious and fully equipped, and has an absolutely spectacular ocean view. We were delighted to find a chilled bottle of local wine and mineral water in the fridge, and Roland followed up with a phone call to make sure that everything was in order. If you can drag yourself away from the terrace, you can relax at the swimming pool, or walk down to the village for a bite to eat. The village is crowded and lively. Don't miss the market on Wednesday and Friday. Cassis is the perfect home base to explore Provence. Roland has all sorts of up-to-date literature, maps etc available for your perusal. There are many options for day trips, but since we have explored extensively on previous holidays, our choice on this vacation was to stay put in Cassis. We barely used our rental car, and you can certainly get by without a car at all. We hope to return next year. Thanks Roland.
Owner response:Thank you, Katherine. Roland

We spent a lovely week in this apartment in Cassis in August 2011. The views from the balcony over the town and harbour are magnificent. The bedrooms are at the back and don't get the sun so much during the day so they stay nice and cool. The apartment is spacious and well-equipped and the pool is clean and inviting. Roland was helpful and always answered my emails promptly. We enjoyed a boat trip to the Calanques and ate at two restaurants in Cassis which were recommended, the Marco Polo (by the harbour, good fixed-price menus) and Pizzeria La Fragnole, Rue Pasteur (informal, tables in the street, good pizzas and grilled fish, no credit cards). You can buy fresh bread for breakfast from the shop just past the petrol station. There is a good provencal market in Cassis on Wednesdays and Fridays and a craft market most evenings in summer. We didn't use the car much at all as you can walk down into the town in about 10 minutes.
Owner response:Thank you Allison. Roland

Very spacious, good amenities, nice furnishing and oh yes.... the view. spectacular! town, sea, cape cannele, port. The owner was very helpful and so helpful to English speaking clients.. recommends for resturants, shopping, hikes, taxis and site seeing all very helpful. My husband and I had initially booked a two week stay at this Cassis rental, but after reading the reviews--we decided to go for a third week. The stay was absolutely marvelous. When we entered the condo and walked into the front room I think we both took simultaneous gasps as we caught sight of the view!! The pictures on this website do not do it justice. It is breathtaking. The apartment was very clean and well maintained. The couple who oversee the property were delightful and equally entertaining. They were wonderful to us making sure our taxi delivered us in safely and timely back to the airport, in addition to warmly greeting us with their songlike "Bonjour." . Roland was wonderful in making sure all our needs were met. He phoned us to make sure everything was as stated. Upon arriving we were delighted to find a cool water and chilled wine waiting for us . We had such a wonderful time and I truly believe god created Heaven and then Cassis!!! I found the people in town warm and welcoming and managed to tolerate my attempts to speak with them. One restaurant Le Bonapart --we found the owner particurly enchanting and the food wonderful!! Make sure not to miss the market on Wednesday and Friday!! The food selection is incredible. The fruits were truly the best I have ever tasted. It was an adventure going to this market. I must also say the olives and anchovies are outstanding as well. We experimented with a different cheese that we were not familar with each time we returned from the market. We did have a car for 12 days while we were is Cassis, so we were able to travel in the area as well. We visited Aix-en Provence, Montpeiller, La Ciotat, the road to Crete (make sure you don't have a fear of heights)!!! In Cassis, we took a boat tour of Les Calanques---not to be missed, visited the beach many days, visited two Vineyards--our favorite was Fontcruese!!! I highly recommend taking a Kyack tour of the calanques, and most importantly became French!! We are truly greatful for this wonderful time we were able to spend in a gorgeous environment.
Owner response:Thank you very much. Roland

This is an attractive and very spacious apartment with a spectacular view of the Cassis harbor. It was exactly as described and pictured. Our whole family -- 5 adults-- stayed here for a week and could not have been happier. Cassis is a beautiful place and a great home base for exploring Provence. Roland provides complete instructions on how to use everything and lots of information about the locale. I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone.
