Location: Stonington, Deer Isle, Acadia, Maine, USA (Stonington, Deer Isle, Maine (Approx. 50 Miles from Bangor)) View Map
Accommodations: House, 4 Bedrooms + No additional sleeping rooms avail, 3.5 Baths (Sleeps 8)
Keywords: House
This charming, completely renovated late 1800’s Maine house is located directly overlooking the fishing harbor of the village of Stonington. The house is surrounded by a gently rolling yard with lovely gardens which leads down to a sandy beach with granite ledges. The magnificent views include ships parading through the town thoroughfare, pine topped nearby islands (including Isle au Haut on a clear day) and observing the comings and goings of the lobster boats. The spacious yard continues in back of the house with plenty of room for croquet, badmitton or simply lounging in a hammock; ample parking is provided off the driveway.
Due to the large tides not only are the views continually changing but the small islands in front of the house can actually be reached on foot when the tide is out.
“The Stronghold” exudes a comfortable and cozy style with a mixture of old and new. Although the house accomodates up to eight people, it is cozy enough for two. The old wood floors, fireplaces, etched glass doors, antiques and collectables have been blended with new furnishings and a modern kitchen and renovated bathrooms. Colors abound both inside and out!
Step out of the second floor master bedroom suite onto a beautiful deck/balcony overlooking a breathless view! Downstairs, an attached one bedroom in-law/guest suite w/ private living room, kitchen and bath add versatility, privacy and room to spread out.
Enjoy your meals in the eat-in kitchen, the formal dining room, the sun-porch, or picnicking in the yard overlooking stunning harbor views.
The location, design and comforts of this beautiful home are too numerous to mention. Bask in the unrivaled views from the decks and yard, swim off the sandy beach, explore the unique shops and restaurants in the villages of Stonington and Deer Isle, or simply relax and take in the sun and ocean breezes; it doesn’t get any better than this! A true, Maine seaside classic!

Thank you so much for opening your house to us. It is a magical place where you can sit and watch the world go by. The house is decorated so uniquely. I love the book "Maine Memories" and will try to purchase one as a special reminder of days gone by. One week is not enough. Next time we will stay longer like we did two years ago. Johnny is a wonderful asset - for many reasons" Our memories of this special house and setting will see us through until we come again. Thank you.

The BEST part of the house is that Johnny comes with it! Thanks for sharing your home with us. It just gets better each year and we're so glad to have a place to escape the 110 degree heat of South Georgia.

One of the many friendly folks we met in town described Stonington as "heaven on earth" and we tend to agree! We loved the house, the decor, the bay at the back door and the "pick your own raspberry" bushes We look forward to coming again and thank you for sharing your wonderful Maine home with us. Johnny the Greek was very helpful.
