Maison Violette, Self Catering Vacation Cottage/House rental is ideally situated in a picturesque French village, in the heart of rural Brittany and 15 miles from Mont Saint Michel. The perfect base for a relaxing vacation in one of the most scenic parts of France.
Maison Violette has one bedroom and can easily sleep 2 adults plus an infant in a folding crib cot and/or another person or couple on the sofa bed. It is possible to accommodate 4 guests total.
There is a shower and sink upstairs next to the bedroom and a separate WC downstairs. The interior of the house 500 square feet
We restored our 300 year old cottage in 2008 and were able to fully modernize yet keep most of the original charm. The interior is full of light, the main living room has a sofabed, TV&DVD player, radio and a fully equipped corner kitchen, the original spiral staircase leads up to the bedroom which features a wall of windows, a vaulted ceiling, exposed oak beams and another (nonworking)fireplace.
Our Village, Bazouges la Perouse, is just 15 minutes from the Brittany/Normandy Border and from Mont St Michel. The village was recently honored with the title of “Bretagne Petite Cité de Caractiere” which means it is now an officially cute and authentic Breton village. It is also considered by the locals as a “Village of Artists”, there are art galleries, artists, painters, stone carvers, ceramicist, and leatherworkers who work in the village.
Bazouges is surrounded by pretty rolling countryside, it is calm and peaceful, not a single major road passes through it. A beautiful and quietlocation, yet central to many sights of interest. St Malo, Cancale, Dinard, Dinan, Rennes and Fougeres are all a stone's throw away. There are countless gorgeous beaches to enjoy and castles and medieval towns to explore… World War II memorials and the American Cemeteries, action theme parks, zoos aquariums, hiking and biking trails and the Best Seafood in the World. Normandy D-Day landing sites are approximately 2 hours away by car..
We do not discriminate and are child friendly..you can bring your well behaved dog. We also have a folding child’s bed, high chair, a basket of toys or children’s DVDs if you need them.
Maison Violette is also available to rent by the month.
November/December/January/February/March=350euros per month plus utilities
there is no wifi in the house, there is an internet center 2 doors down which is open to the public 3 days aweek and is free of charge.. The TV plays DVD's only.. heat is turned off June July August September

We lived in Brooklyn for many years before moving here in 2005.. our home is also in Bazouges, about 2 minutes away from the house. We also own a furniture business

Interesting cottage and town

We stayed for 3 nights but should have planned for 4-5. Many local sights and town very nice with a few good restaurants and local stores for supplies. House comfortable and enjoyed talking to Sandy about the area. She even had some coffee and homemade jam for us.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We stayed at Maison Violette for the full months of February and March. Our host,Sandy, met our train in Combourg and even had homemade soup, bread and wine at the gite for us. We are retired 65 year old teachers from Washington state and after such a long journey her thoughtfulness was so very appreciated. The village of Bazouges is beautiful with a lovely church and many artists' studios. The gite is comfortable with amazing old beams and a gorgeous staircase. The kitchen is efficient and everything is quite comfortable. Easy day trips to St. Malo, Normandy beaches, Dinan, Dinard, and Rennes. We particularly enjoyed Becherel, the village of book stores. Country drives to the surrounding villages are a joy and walks in the nearby foret are not to be missed. The Jallu family are wonderful kind hosts who answer any questions and will even help you map out your time. Bazouges is well situated for visiting Brittany and Normandy. Maison Violette became our home and we fell in love with Brittany.

My wife and I stayed for 2 days in this lovely, comfortable cottage in the wonderful little country village of ----. Cool breezes drifting through the windows carried the smell of drying hay from the surrounding fields reminding me of my childhood. The owner was a pleasure to deal with: honest, no worries. Nice intimate, friendly cafe down the street. Great place to escape other tourists (even though we were tourists), close enough yet far enough from St Malo and Mont St Michel. Left with warm feelings.

This cozy townhouse is in a charming little village with all the conveniences of shopping close by. It was a perfect hub for our 3 days of touring the countryside and just a short drive to Mont St. Michel. Evening sunsets on the coast and dining options were many. There is a friendly bakery in town and a nice modern market just a short walk. The owner was WONDERFUL to deal with on all aspects of the rental. Value and location make this a great choice.

We had a wonderful stay at Maison Violette. The owner, was extremely friendly and helpful. The cottage was perfectly cozy for our family of four. The village was lovely and we received friendly "bonjours" from all we met. The proximity to Mont St. Michel was excellent with picturesque driving through the French countryside. It was a great vacation.
