Great place for relaxing island vacation

Guest: Jeff (Wisconsin)
Date of Stay: 11/06/11 Review Submitted: 12/06/11

The Kaibo condo was a clean place that had a great pool and hot tub that was right on the edge of the water. Everything worked and was well maintained. The beach was nice and private. Down the road less than a mile was Rum Point beach; we loved hanging out there as a family with fresh food and drinks and the beach restaurant -with chairs and tables provided. Some snorkeling was available at the condo and at Rum point. The snorkeling was even better by the public beach a mile down the road just another mile or so. We thought the beach for swimming was best at Rum Point. We liked that it was safe going around the island and we were able to take a rented car everywhere around the island. We did not stay at the 7 mile beach but did visit. Alot busier on that side of town- if you like a busy atmosphere that comes with a big beach that would be for you. The Rum Point has good casual food on the beach tables; at the Restaurant at night the food was extremely upscale in presentation in a beautiful but yet semi casual restaurant. We liked the very casual environment and food at Edge O Water and the brunch at Tukkas. The Kaibo Club was where we went the most. It is a very short walk away to it, and had a great barbeque night and very good other food. Kaibo has a full moon dining night that looked neat with white linens on the beach. We would try to go to it if we had the chance to be there on a full moon again. We drove to Hell on the other side of the island and thought the landscape and the novelty was worth a little trip. The Turtle Farm looked like it could have been more interesting, but we got there late and the staff seemed to be leaving and setting up for a party and did not offer any guidance. In town, Guy Harveys had alot of unique items and we did meet Mr Harvey himself while painting. This was pretty neat. For Jimmy Buffet fans, a trip to Margarittiville in town is worthwhile. We liked the Barefoot Man at the Reef. He is a legendary local singer who lives in Caymen who has alot of island folklore songs with character similar to Buffet. Our teenagers went on a resort scuba at Ocean Frontiers and thought it was great and would recommend it. My wife and I stuck with snorkeling. We went in November 2011 and enjoyed the weather as a wonderful change from Wisconsin. We would recommend the time of year and this condo. The owner and manager do seem to care a great deal about making sure your stay is a good one.

A heavenly week

Date of Stay: 07/16/11 Review Submitted: 08/10/11

The Owner was great to deal with. The description of property was very accurate.Property well groomed. The condo was really nice and clean. The bed was perfect. The supplies were all there including beach towels, lots of them.Stuff to cook with were plenty.Pool was right in back of Condo, had it all to myself except for one day.Area was very quite even in the day time.I tryed some of the local resturants, they were good .I caught some wonderful sunsets. The people who get to live there are super and you'll understand why by the time you leave. The place is like heaven on earth, but pictures can't capture the beauty and words can't describe it,you just have to go and experince it.

Very Quiet Laid Back and on Island Time

Guest: sandy d.
Date of Stay: 06/28/11 Review Submitted: 07/06/11

The condo was was very quiet, clean and very comfortable. It has many amenities and a wonderful open feel. All of the appliances worked wonderfully and the kitchen has all of the small appliances and cooking utensils that you would need. We stayed in June-July the a/c works great the condo has ceiling fans throughout and the shower has excellent water pressure is wonderful at the end of the day. We also used the washer and dryer and it works great. The condo overlooks the pool and hot tub and it has a nice screened porch that spans the length of the condo. It is 1.2 miles from the condo to Rum Point and the Kaibo Yacht Club is next door. The out door bar/restaurant at the Yacht Club was very reasonable and tasty and is open until 9pm ish. We also ate at the Rum Point restaurant and it was excellent however very expensive. The outdoor bar/ restaurant at Rum Point has good food but it is also pricey also note it closes at 5pm. There are tours from the Yacht Club and of course many tours from Rum Point. The only 2 things that I would point out is that the condo is on the second floor so you must be able to climb stairs as there is no elevator and secondly if you are going to arrive possibly late in the evening be sure to get good driving directions as there are few street lights and it can be difficult to find at night. Also please note that Cayman Kai and the Yacht Club included it is best to rent a car as there is little that you can walk to. One of the nearest grocery stores is Chisholm's and it is a good 10 minute plus drive there is also a small Fosters grocery but is it at the East End across from the Reef Resort. Finally, I would recommend the condo if you want a wonderful place to stay and if you want to get away from it all and have a calm peaceful stay.

Recommended Accommodation for Cayman Vacation

Guest: Mary (Calgary, Alberta, Canada)
Date of Stay: 02/05/11 Review Submitted: 03/01/11

I have been vacationing in Cayman for the last six years and always stay in the Cayman Kai/Rum Point area. This was my first time staying at the Kaibo Yacht Club Condos and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This second floor unit overlooks the pool and hot tub and is right on the beach. It has ALL the conveniences of home and is very comfortable and clean. You can cook in or the Kaibo Bar & Grill is just a short walk down the beach. The owner of this unit makes your stay a very enjoyable experience by providing many local tips, discounts and even a local cell phone for your convenience during your stay. I found all of that very helpful and took advantage of the diving discount and got my Advanced Certification!! :-) This very tranquil and remote area of the island will require a car rental (owner provided discount) for access to groceries, George Town (45 minute drive) and East End Diving (owner provided discount). Or just finding all the various snorkel spots throughout the island. Lie by the pool, walk along the beach, great food and friendly people at Kaibo, snorkel at Rum Point, Dive East End, Shop in George Town, Sting Ray Excursion or just relax on the Condo Lanai.....the choice is yours! :-) This condo was a perfect spot for me and I will definitely be back to stay in it next year!!

Great vacation @ the Kaibo Yacht Club Condos

Guest: Sherrie Swadburg (Golden)
Date of Stay: 08/14/10 Review Submitted: 09/05/10

This unit was very comfortable and clean. King sized bed in master was very comfy. The owner was extremely helpful and provided many local tips, which made our vacation fun & easy. Close to Rum Pt. beach area & walking distance to Kaibo Yacht Club restaruant. About 40 minutes from Georgetown & the hustle bustle of 7 mile beach. Very tranquil area with less crowds and no major traffic. Great snorkeling at Rum Pt. - saw sting rays, barricuda and many tropical fish just off shore. Very easy to set up a trip to Sting Ray City. Also we got a discount due to the condo owner. Our kids were 8 & 11 and it was a very family oriented area. The unit overlooks the pool & hot tub and is on the beach. Definitely stock up on groceries at Foster's Food Fair near the airport. Limited grocery stores within 10-20 minutes. You will need a car to drive to this area. Make sure to visit the East End beaches too (20 minutes away). We snorkeled off the Morritt's beach area and saw lots of tropical fish, lobster and barricuda. We were very happy to have the extra space, cook a few meals in and we really enjoyed the large lenai. Great place to enjoy a family dinner and a game of cards at night. Also, it was nice to have a washer & dryer in the unit. Would definitely return to the beautiful tranquil Rum Pt. area & stay in this unit again. Sherrie - Golden, CO
