This unique property is a terrific family (or small group) rental, perfectly located at the end of a cul de sac in beautiful Alpine Meadows! You are in a serene, private area yet close to everything! Right outside the door is five lakes trailhead for summer hiking and fishing; 1/2 mile from horseback riding, 1 mile to gentle river rafting and riverside bike trails, a minute drive up the valley is the Alpine Meadows Ski Area, around the corner is Squaw Valley or drive just up the road to the shores of Lake Tahoe (both Squaw and Tahoe City are about 5 minutes away).
Our cedar wrapped, pine accented home blends unique artistic tastes in a very attractive, pleasing mountain feel. The upstairs floor plan is open and flooded with light. A big kitchen and open dining room, perfect for large family dinners, allows those enjoying the flat screen TV sitting area or fireplace lounge to participate in conversations.
There is also a downstairs TV room, a great spot for kids to enjoy a movie while adults retreat for some quiet time. Keeping families in mind, this home also includes two pack-n-plays and baby monitors. There are 3 bedrooms each with a queen bed and a 4th bedroom with 2 trundle beds (could sleep 4 kids).
The outdoor hot tub is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy phenomenal views after a long day on the hill or trails. In the summer, a great place to hang out or sun bathe or eat is on one of the decks overlooking the alpine hills.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2008
Joan and I, Dennis, live most of the time just above the Napa Valley. I recently sold my Internet Marketing Company and my wife her successful art business. We are semi-retired. We travel quite a bit together and with our two married daughters, their husbands and their growing families. One of our daughters is a successful Interior Architect in Los Angles who is married to an entrepreneur who is the founder and CEO of a major software company. The other daughter is an occupational therapist, whose husband is the cameraman for many of the Home and Garden TV Network shows that we all love. We are an active group. We all love to ski, hike, scuba dive, surf, bike, boat, ride motorcycles and hang out together in beautiful environments. We are recent grandparents with both daughters and thoroughly enjoy this delightful new addition to our lives.
Why the Owner Chose Alpine Meadows
After many years of owning a ski in/out house at Sugar Bowl, and after searching the entire Tahoe Basin, we found the ideal spot for enjoying the benefits of a four season vacation home. We are only a minute from Alpine Meadows - a hill we think is quite superior to Sugar Bowl, five minutes from Squaw Valley and the shores of Lake Tahoe. In summer, we are one minute from horseback riding and two minutes from terrific rafting and kayaking on the Truckee River. We consider this the best location in Tahoe for our kind of active summer and winter vacations and away from the congestion and noise of most of Tahoe.
The Unique Benefits of this House
We love the bright sunny feeling of our house in both winter and summer. We are surrounded by rugged nature but super comfortable in a house with every amenity. We love to sit by the fire or soak in the hot tub at the end of a ski day or after a bike ride. We also like watching DVDs on our new Sony 50" LCD TV, or playing games around the cozy fireplace. We are avid traditional art collectors and enjoy the feeling our unique alpine and American Indian decor provides. In summer we really like sunbathing, and/or hanging out and eating on one of our decks.

Our group just came back from a fabulous Spring ski trip in Tahoe. We stayed at the Duff Chalet which was super. This is a large comfortable home with so much light and good vibes. Loved the art, the roominess, the amenities, the interesting appointments in each bedroom and of course the hot tub with the mountain view after a day of skiing. It is private and quiet here and just a mile away from Alpine lifts. We all oved it. We'll definitely be back. Thanks!

Thank you for so much the use of your wonderful vacation home. All of us (grandparents, kids and grandkids) were able to get together and ski and talk and laugh and have fun. And then run off to quiet corners for rest and recuperation. We loved the mountain feel of your chalet - the vistas from your home are great, the stargazing crystal clear and the fresh snow lovely. All the best to you and yours.

We had a fantastic time at Tahoe. Great home - perfect for our families. We loved the horseback rides, playground, beach park, river rafting - it was perfect fun for all! We even had a summer thunder storm one afternoon. We hope to be back in the winter and annually every summer!

The Swansons and the Matrays thank you for our glorious weekend together. Your lovely Tahoe home was the perfect place for our family reunion. The weather was perfect and the location ideal. Of course, we loved the hot tub, the interesting art and the cozy feeling of your home. Thank you for another precious family memory. By the way, we loved skiing at Alpine with the chalet only a minute a way from the slopes – great location.

What can I say - this place is fantastic!! We even had snow for a day. The location is perfect for so many activities - how can you stay away? Everything is so comfortable, great décor, and clean. It is by far the best vacation rental we’ve ever stayed in. We hope to come back again and again with family and friends.

Tusen Takk (thousand thanks in Norwegian) for opening your gorgeous home to our family. Summer is so incredible here - we had no idea how wonderful and peaceful it is and yet only minutes away from the lake and tons of super fun activities. You obviously have put a lot of love and attention into making your chalet attractive, warm and enjoyable. We hope to come back often. Thank you so much!

The "Duff Chalet" was everything we expected and more. Nestled in the quiet Alpine Meadows area, we were still close to everything, yet we had the peace and quiet not found at some locations nearer to Tahoe City. We loved the big, well-equipped kitchen, the large decks and the sauna! Rooms were well-appointed, clean and comfy. We made full use of the spectacular hiking trail, whose entrance was just 5min walk from our door! We literally had not a single complaint--except that we had to eventually leave! We hope to be back!
