WE HAVE VISITED THE KEYS REGULARLY SINCE 1994 AND PURCHASED OUR FIRST RENTAL UNIT ON KEY COLONY BEACH IN 1998. WE LOVE THE LAID-BACK ATMOSPHERE, THE OUTDOOR RESTAURANTS ON THE WATER, FISHING, SNORKELING/DIVING, THE HISTORY, THE PARKS, THE FLOWERS, VISITING KEY WEST AND THE OTHER KEYS. WE LOVE THE WEATHER, THE BLUE SKY, THE GREEN WATER, THE SUNSETS. WE TRAVEL TO THE KEYS 4 OR MORE TIMES EACH YEAR TO MAINTAIN OUR HOME/YARD AND OF COURSE, TO "PLAY" THERE. WE CHOSE TO BUY ON KEY COLONY BEACH IN 1998 (A 1/2 DUPLEX UNIT - LATER BOUGHT SECOND 1/2 AND IN 2004 PURCHASED OUR CURRENT RENTAL COTTAGE ON 12TH STREET) BECAUSE WE LOVED THE AREA SO MUCH. WE LOVE THE FACT THAT IF WE CHOOSE TO, WE CAN DRIVE TO THE KEYS AND GET AWAY TO THE "ISLANDS" OR WE CAN FLY INTO MIAMI, RENT A CAR AND DRIVE 100 MILES TO OUR HOME THERE. WE LOVE THE MIDDLE KEYS AS OPPOSED TO KEY WEST WHICH IS BUSIER AND MORE CONGESTED - THO A FUN PLACE TO "VISIT". THE FISHING IS THE "BEST" JUST OFF SHORE AS IS THE SNORKELING/DIVING. WE CHOSE THE KEYS FOR THE WEATHER. KEY COLONY IS UNIQUE IN THAT IT IS A "CITY" WITH GOVERNING BODY AND A POLICE FORCE, SEPARATE FROM MARATHON AND REST OF KEYS. KEY COLONY BEACH IS AN ISLAND JUST OFF U.S.1 ON THE
OCEAN SIDE. IT IS MOSTLY RESIDENTIAL, QUIET, WELL KEPT, HAS THREE RESTAURANTS WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE, A GOLF COURSE, CHARTER BOATS AND BEACHES. WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE HERE?
