We have a very lovely, one bedroom lakefront house that is available to rent in Vermilion, Ohio. The interior is all knotty pine with a fireplace, very large master bedroom, large sun porch, kitchen, living room /dining room and bath. It is charming, cozy and immaculate. Cozy in the winter and lovely in the summer.
The large, private backyard abuts Lake Erie, and provides you with a break-front (albeit presently under construction) at the lake that is perfect for fishing, swimming or just “sitting” by the water. There is a large park for the kids a short walk/bike ride down the street, and a large, private backyard with, swings and benches to watch the truly great sunsets and sunrises over Lake Erie. Take a snooze on the sun porch and catch the afternoon trade winds, or open the windows at night and catch the wind and sound of the waves.
Conveniently located, it is 20 minutes from Cedar Point and the many Sandusky water parks (Kalahari, Great Wolf Lodge, Castaway Bay), 30 minutes to the ferry for the Lake Erie Islands and wineries, 20 minutes to historic Milan/Norwalk Ohio (home of Thomas Edison), and 30 minutes to Cleveland’s Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame, the Science Museum, Cleveland Indians, Browns, and Cavaliers, and the world famous Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland Orchestra, and Art and History museums. There is fine shopping, restaurants, boat rentals and the quaint City of Vermilion (complete with ice cream Shoppe, naval museum, wonderful beaches and a 5 star French restaurant on the water) to visit.
So spend a day at Cedar Point, and come home to the quiet of the Lake for dinner and an evening of relaxing at the water. Go fishing in the morning, and then head into Milan in the afternoon for a taste of history. Head off for a day at the water parks and come home to a home cooked meal on the grill. Spend a day at the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame and visit the many sites of Cleveland (USS Mather, the USS Cod submarine, the many nightclubs in the Flats by the Cuyahoga River, the Science Museum, or catch an Indians game) (Cleveland really is a great city) and come home to a night of catching fireflies in the backyard, or a trip into Vermilion for ice cream or just a peaceful sunset at the water. The combinations and possibilities are endless.
Our house offers you days of quiet by the water with the fun and excitement of day trips to the many sites in Vermilion, Sandusky, Huron, Milan, Norwalk, and Cleveland, as well as the Lake Erie Islands. You will have a vacation to remember for always.

Also available - a large THREE bedroom mirror image house that is located next door (It is a duplex) which is great for family gatherings/reunions. If you would like to rent both units the price is $1700. For the THREE bedroom side THERE IS A LARGE MASTER BEDROOM (ORIGINALLY A SUNROOM) PLUS 2 SMALLER BEDROOMS. Our house is also about 40 minutes from the Cleveland Clinic - and is also a perfect peaceful place for family members or for the patient' s peaceful recuperation.

Why the Owner Chose Vermilion
We purchased our lakefront and gutted large parts of the home, replaced kitchens and baths as well as many of the knotty pine walls. Because it is a duplex (see 3 bedroom listing 1662266), we specifically bought our home on the lake to accommodate our children and their families, and thought that it would be a great vacation rental until we "retired". Our one bedroom side provides a wonderful cozy getaway opportunity in a breathtaking lakefront location, while being close to Cleveland, the Cleveland Clinic, the islands, Cedar Point, and all of the waterfront points of interest. Our home is lovely, cozy, and immaculate. The views are magnificent, and the lakefront wonderful (although it is under constant landscaping by my husband).

We stayed the month of December, and as cold as it was outside, the sweet little cabin was nice & cozy. Very clean, the linens & bedroom as great (the bedspread is just beautiful). I think we only had to buy 2 pans to cook gravy & bacon in, otherwise everything was there. The view was great, even tho I only looked thru the windows! LOL! Hoping to be able to stay again in the future.
Recommended for:People with disabilities, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Had a wonderfully pleasant stay at this spot at the end of August. The weather was spectacular and the cottage was just as described. I'm a bit of a clean-freak and always worry a bit before checking into a new place. The place was spotless, as advertised. Fit the bill perfectly. And Kate, the owner, was exceptionally accomodating to my odd schedule. Am really looking forward to staying here again some time in the fall. I live in Cleveland and grew up new Vermilion. This was such an easy drive and a great break, I can't believe I didn't think to do it sooner. Thanks, Kate!

We enjoyed the house. It was just as promised..clean, well maintained, nice linens,and internet was a great bonus. The owners were very nice, helpful, accessible. We had plenty of room for all of us! There was a sandy beach during our stay.The steps down to the water were a bit tricky carrying kids and stuff but worth the trip down. The location was quiet and convenient to the local activites. It was unusually hot during our stay so AC was little stressed but we were not uncomfortable.Our kids loved the cottage. my 5yold never wanted to leave the 'beach'. My one year old loved the sand and rocks. All in all- We have a nice relaxing time for parents and kids loved it. I've told friends about this house and the area. We are ready to go back.
Owner response:Owner's note: it is true about the heat. Following Amy's stay we installed a new air conditioner in the living room (the bedroom has an air conditioner). We also installed a new air conditioner in the 3 bedroom side's living room at the same time (the bedrooms also have air conditioners). It was so unusually hot. Historically we only needed to leave the windows open - but those weeks were soooo very hot and humid. Amy and family were very good sports.
