Year Purchased: 2002
Sue and Karl have been homesteading on Nantucket for the past decade. Karl has been coming to the island since he was born, to visit and work with family. He is an accomplished builder and wood worker. Sue is an artist and home maker and together they have created a rental house that has been called "human", "cozy", and "delightful" by its many happy visitors. The house is characterized by its warmth and unpretentious style.
Why the Owner Chose Surfside
When we found this spot on Nantucket it stood out. Aside from the fact that it provided a little "elbow room", the property is flanked on two sides by horse paddocks (we have found the horses to be very agreeable neighbors). Set into a hill, the house sits comfortably in its wooded surroundings and yet is only three miles from downtown Nantucket.
The Unique Benefits of this Cottage
A short walk down a wooded dirt road and across the dunes to watch the sun set. A quick bike ride to Surfside Beach on paved bike paths. A four minute drive to downtown shops and restaurants.
