Dolce far niente means the sweetness of doing nothing, and that is what is lovely about this cozy cabin. Leave your worries at home and relax at this cozy year-round retreat on beautiful Skagit Bay. The large main room comprises the well-furnished kitchen, dining room, and living room. Finished in knotty pine with fir floors and ceiling, it offers a warm backdrop to our vintage and antique furnishings and accessories. The bedrooms are compact; the 'master' has a full size bed with a Sleep Number mattress. The second bedroom has double bunk beds which have been a favorite with our children and grandchildren - always a great place to play! (Because the top bunk is so hard to make up, we suggest you bring sleeping bags for it, or use our washable fleece sleeping bags.) The top bunk is NOT suitable for all children; the top bunk is listed as an 'extra' bed only.
Make it your headquarters for exploring the northwest corner of the United States, the San Juan Islands, and even Victoria and Vancouver, BC. It's just ten minutes from picturesque La Conner, Washington, and is perfect for singles, couples, or small families.
Relax on the deck as you watch for bald and golden eagles, hawks, and heron; deer, rabbits, and quail are frequent visitors to the yard. You'll enjoy walks on the beach, always keeping an eye out for agates, shells, and interesting junk the tides present, and you may even see a sea otter.
LaConner and Anacortes have some excellent restaurants and we'll happily share our favorites with you but our preferred venue is porch-side dining at the cabin: Bring out our folding table for six and toast the sun as it sets over Whidbey Island. And after dinner try a little stargazing.
We can’t say enough about the view. The sunsets are spectacular, silhouetting Whidbey Island, Hope Island, the tiny Tonkon Islands, and the majestic Olympic Mountain range. And, best of all, it’s only eighty miles from Seattle.
Traveling with friends or looking for a place for a family reunion? Consider this cabin and the cabin next door, Holiday Home #34793 on this website, and you will have two decks, two kitchens, two bathrooms, beds and futons for twelve people, and large grassy area for games. Ask about two-cabin rates.
This cabin has been both haven and refuge for four generations of our family and we look forward to sharing it with you.

Why the Owner Chose La Conner:
My children were young when we discovered what soon became our bit of heaven! We love watching our beautiful views change from hour to hour and season by season. As soon as we leave I-5 we start to relax as we drive across Fir Island and the Skagit Valley. What could be more beautiful than fertile farmland; we stop at the farm stands and load up on just picked fruit, vegetables, and berries. La Conner is a charming village that we are pleased to call our other home town.
