This was my first stay in a yurt and it was a wonderful experience! The creek nearby was like a relaxing background soundtrack throughout the stay. The yurt had everything you would need to stay and relax, with a full kitchen, refrigerator and great patio seating. Nearby there are the mineral springs... which are a great experience if you're open; I also received a wonderful Breema massage with the hostess, Jean- I highly recommend you getting a Breema treatment with her while staying. Overall, this is an amazing place to relax and unwind.

I loved my 2 nights in this cozy yurt. My pup dog and I shared the Yurt with lts of room to spare. The sound of the stream was relaxing and so enjoyable. Very clean with all the comforts of home. Had a little rain while there and it was wonderful listening to it hit the roof. Wonderful and I will be back!

My family of four (plus dog) chose this place as a half-way, two-day stopover on a drive from Los Angeles to Seattle. The location is about 8 miles west of I-5 on what was once a fully paved road. It has just what you want for relaxation -- no internet, poor cell phone connection, a fully functional kitchen, tons of ponderosa pines, white fir, and yellow cedar. There is a nearby creek that is easy to get to if you don't mind uneven terrain. Unfortunately, we didn't see any bear or wolves, so we still have the dog. The yurt is essentially one big room (around 750 SF) with a 20 ft ceiling in the center. It has a Franklin fireplace and electric heat. It also has a bathroom yurt off the side (accessible from inside). The deck is large, has tables and chairs, and a BBQ. My wife said that staying there even for two days felt like what a vacation was supposed to feel like. We will recommend this place to our friends.

My friends and I had a great time in the yurt, and I would highly recommend it. It was way nicer than we could have even imagined (omg, the woodburning stove!) and Bill and Jean were incredibly gracious hosts. We would love to come back and check in out--it might just become an annual tradition! If you're planning a trip to the yurt in winter and there's snow on the ground, you will be a happier camper if you bring an SUV or something with 4WD. If that's not an option, you'll definitely want a car with high clearance and some chains. Bill and Jean were great sports about picking us up when we got stuck in our Prius, but probably a situation best avoided!

My husband and I spent a wonderful 5 days in this well-designed yurt. It is beautifully constructed and very lovely to be inside--like being in a huge tent with a high-beamed ceiling, but with very comfortable and beautiful furnishings, kitchen and bath. The deck is just as pictured and a great place to relax, read and for watching birds, butterflies and the flowers. The fast moving stream is very close and I really enjoyed sitting beside it. Something I did not really plan on before I arrived was doing a bodywork session with our friendly hostess Jean. It was fabulous--I had 3 sessions. Highly recommended. Jean was also very helpful on where to hike, shop, and eat, etc.

A fantastic retreat. My wife and I (along with our pooch) spent a long weekend enjoying Shasta park and the surrounding mountains. We could not have asked for a better place to put up our feet, enjoy a cozy fire, and rest between excursions. The countryside was beautiful, and the hikes amazing, but it was still hard to leave the comfort of the Yurt. Bill and Jean were gracious and responsive hosts, and their property alone is worth the trip. We highly recommend the Creekside Yurt Retreat and are already planning our return.

An amazing piece of property we loved every minute there. The yurt is large and spacious and very accommodating. We played at the creek every day, it was spectacular. We enjoyed our family time together around the fire place every evening. Such gracious hosts, sharing a wonderful piece of their lives with us. Thank you! The Hilbigs

Absolutely, positively exceptional. There simply is no adequate way to describe the beauty and tranquility of this place. Superb accommodation. Truly gracious hosts. We woke up one morning in our delicious bed to look out the window and see the sun rising pink and bright, deer and rabbits grazing on the grass and the sound of chimes blowing in the cool mountain breeze. What else could we do? Went back to sleep with smiles on our faces. There's only one word: perfect.

                              Year Purchased: 2005

About the owner: In 1998, your hosts, Jean and Bill Anderson bought 40 acres along Eddy Creek, at the foot of Mount Eddy, with spectacular views of Mount Shasta. After summers in the tipi, they built and lived in the yurt for two years while designing and building a new house above the upper meadow. Jean is a Breema bodyworker and instructor, certified Yoga instructor, artist and has had a healing practice since 1996. 'Something about this land and the yurt supports rest, nurturing, renewal, creativity, adventure ... whatever our guests have come for.'

The Unique Benefits at this Studio:
As you contemplate your stay at Eddy Retreat we invite you to take the idea of vacation a little deeper and consider the option of an “intentional vacation” – using the ritual of vacation as an opportunity to create a breakthrough in one’s life, to explore an edge of potential growth, a habitual pattern of behavior or point of view which you would like to shed for a new way of being in the world. Your intention might involve risk, either emotional or physical, taking on a goal that’s been on the back of your mind for some time which fear or habit has kept you from exploring. Your vacation could be an adventure into this territory. An “intentional vacation” is an opportunity to set up your get away so that you come back a new person. If you choose the option of an “intentional vacation” we offer support as facilitators of your adventure in self-discovery and breakthrough. Even before you arrive, Jean offers coaching to support you in creating your intention for your vacation. If your focus is on emotional or physical healing Jean offers her 20 years of experience as a practitioner of self-healing arts. She is a certified Yoga instructor and Breema™ practitioner. If your focus is on outdoor challenge and adventure we can refer you experienced guides to take you safely to your edge and beyond. If an “intentional vacation” interests you, let us know when you call for reservations.
