You will feel like you own your own ranch in the heart of the Old West
Water, water, water, every where water. our Creek is Spring fed and our well abundant. Take long showers and enjoy the abundance of super clean, clear water.
This rental is a beautiful, unique and limited opportunity. Only one family or group will be able to take advantage of this offer at a time. It is like a Guest Ranch, but you have the place to yourself with solitude and privacy in a beautiful natural setting. Photographs just can not do it justice. There are spectacular views in all directions.
The ranch is in the heart of the Old West with numerous rivers and lakes nearby. It is 10 minutes North of downtown Mt. Shasta and 25 minutes South of Yreka. The McCloud River:45 minutes, The Upper Sacramento: 15 minutes, The Klamath (45 min.), the Trinity River (45 min.),the Pit River and Hat Creek (about one hour). Our on-site ponds abound in trophy size trout. A gin-clear, spring creek, full of trout, runs for 1 3/4 miles through the property. If you ever dreamed of helping your child catch a trout, this is the place to make real, that fantasy! The fishing is unsurpassed.
While extremely private, the ranch is less than five minutes from the city of Weed and 10 minutes from Mount Shasta City. Interstate 5 is 5 minutes away and the Weed airport is 10 minutes away.
If you want a secluded, and beautiful home base from which to explore Northern California and Southern Oregon this is an excellent venue.
The house lies at the end of a mile long, unpaved private country road. This secluded mountain valley provides spectacular 360 degree views. I often sit outside with a cup of tea or a cold drink and watch the views and wildlife as time seems to stand still. If you are an artist or bird watcher you will be captivated. The lighting is fantastic.
A small horse and cattle operation is run by two local cowboys who are also officers of the law in town. Their occasional presence on the range will help guard your privacy and will add a layer of security. Bill and Tim (policeman and Sheriff respectively) know the area well and can provide excellent information about the regions extensive recreational opportunities.
There is one main bathroom and an extra toilet in the laundry room area.
With all of the water around, it is amazing that there are no Mosquitoes or other biting insects to speak of. Having stayed at places where bug spray was a necessity, I believe this is a issue every vacationer should look into before committing to a rental property.
there is NO WiFi but cell phone reception is excellent for all Smart Phones and Tablets etc.

To own a trout fishing property has always been my dream. I never expected to find such a perfect location. I am an engineering consultant and expert witness. The Residual job stress melts away with each day at the ranch. While I have traveled the world, no place is more relaxing than a stay here at the ranch. I am married with three kids. My family loves our ranch vacations. We live in Southern California in the mountains above Santa Barbara. In the winters we come to the ranch to ski and board at Mount Shasta Ski Park, less than 30 minutes away.
Bill Broadhead purchased this house in 1997
Siskiyou county is at the heart of one of the best fishing, hiking and biking areas in the world. The air is clean and the sky blue. This area still holds the flavor or the Old American West. The small town honesty and hospitality are reminiscent of the values upon which the country was founded. If you want to get away from the stress of everyday life this is the place.
Seclusion and solitude prevail in a natural setting with the convenience of a town and Interstate freeway nearby. Crater Lake, Lava Beds National Monument and numerous other natural wonders make convenient day trips. This ranch is perfect for the family that loves the natural outdoors but wants to sleep comfortably indoors. Nearby museums and antique stores reflect the mystique of our American frontier days. The nearby town of Weed was established as a logging town. Other nearby towns sprang up with the great California gold rush.
Amazing property with some amazing views. Isolated with tons to explore outside. House had everything we needed.
Major WOW of a vacation! We stayed for 6 nights, and would like to have stayed more if we had the time. My wife and two teen age boys shared the 500 acres with my brother and sister in law, plus our two German Short Haired Pointers and their four “ankle bitters” (Chihuahuas) as cow boy Bill called them . The property reminded me of how the Wild West probably was 100 years ago, but with plenty of rustic luxury. My boys Loved running wild in the woods with Buddy and Hazel, the two GSPs helping them scare up jack rabbits, ground squirrels and tree squirrels, while I attempted to hone my fly-fishing skills, and my wife and Bros. and Sis- in law lazed around the lawn with the ankle Biter-Chihuahuas to protect them. It was a doggy paradise as well as a perfectly relaxing, week -long get-a-way from the City/work rat race that is the Bay Area. During the day we took afternoon excursions now known as “escape the heat adventures” to various high country lakes. At night we grilled up very late dinners followed by campfires until the early morning hours, while gazing up at the limitless stars and famous Milky Way, never seen in town. Thanks Bill for an awesome vacation!
I would wholeheartedly recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway with access to superb fly fishing. Bill and his team were very accommodating, and the ranch was amazing on so many levels!
We had an amazing 2 days at the Broadhead Ranch. The property is beautiful and the house was perfect for sleeping the 6 of us. There is enough to do on the ranch to keep both a 13 yr-old and a 70 yr old entertained (swinging in the hammock and fly fishing in the pond, respectively). We can't wait to come back!
If you like privacy this is the place, soon as you close the gate behind you can feel the stress of the week start to melt away. The views are spectacular , accommodations are great!. Fly fishing in the ponds was a good time .
Bill Has taken great care in making the ranch a special place.
We look forward to our July trip with the grandkids !
Thank you Bill
We had a great week at the ranch with our kids (9, 7 and 4) unplugged and away from it all. We got up early each morning and enjoyed squelching across the flood meadow to fish the lower lake. The kids had a lot of fun and all caught trout. Tim and Bill were great hosts on the ranch and we got to know the horses they corralled each evening. Outings we enjoyed include hiking on Mt Shasta, swimming at McCloud Falls and kayaking Lake Siskiyou. We'll be back! Thanks Bill!
Pick wild mountain blackberrys in July, August and September (the timing depends on the weather) . All you could ever want right out side the house. There is a new Skate board park near the end of the driveway!
