Sugarloaf Pine Home, Clean, Surrounded by Fir Trees, Wildlife,
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:No
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Our clean and rustic year round home is at the base of Cranberry Peak of the Bigelow Range. We are 6.8 miles from Sugarloaf where the skiing (and the golf) is the best in the East! We are on a quaint, dead end road directly off Rt. 27, the main road to Sugarloaf. Our home is sunny, has a small brook in the back, is surrounded by fir trees, is peaceful and quiet, and is often visited by deer. Snowmobilers can access major trail systems right from the driveway, and hiking opportunities are plentiful, with access to the Appalachian trail a short jaunt through the woods. Snowshoe or cross country ski right from the yard!! If you are a skier who likes to pay off-mountain prices, but still be within a short commute to big mountain skiing, fitness centers, the Outdoor Center (cross country ski and skating), bars and restaurants, the 6.8 mile ride will take you only 10 minutes!
More Information:
Winter Renters - we have a 4 night minimum stay.
Other seasons: If you are a hunter or like to fish, Stratton, Maine is the place to come for deer, moose, turkeys, or birds. You can leave right from our backyard, and wander through the woods or on the many trail systems. Local folks can clue you in to all the great fishing holes!!! Bikers and hikers can access trails right in Stratton, or enjoy Sugarloaf Mountain trails, trails on the Bigelow Range, the Narrow Gauge pathway in Carrabassett Valley, or the Maine Huts and Trails. Flagstaff Lake is right down the road, surrounded by large red pines...here you can snowmobile, cross country ski, kayak, swim, or fish!! On the other side of the lake is the great Maine Huts and Trails, where you can hike or cross country ski from hut to hut and enjoy a hot meal, right in the woods, or spend the night in a cabin!
Sharing Our Home:
We use our home on a regular basis and hope you will enjoy it as much as we do!! It is not a 4 star hotel, but it is as clean as you will find, simple, peaceful, and pleasantly decorated. This was a lovely, clean well furnished place. An ideal location, close to Sugarloaf and other mountains. We had a great time; my husband played golf at Sugarloaf and I climbed mountains and we both hiked some nearby spots. The golf club is a good place to eat, but it closes at 7 pm. We plan to return next year!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

We instantly fell in love with this home upon arrival and hated to leave. The house beams with pride of ownership inside and out...neat, clean, organized and well taken care of. It has everything you could possibly need in the kitchen. The beds and the living room furniture are extremely comfortable, and every room has a ceiling fan! We also enjoyed the screened front porch. The location is perfectly quiet and relaxing...with everything you need nearby (food, gas, MOOSE). We saw 15 moose in one week! It couldn't have been more perfect. We plan to return again. Thanks Susan!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2010
About the owner: We live in Windham, Maine, near Sebago Lake, and go to our home near Sugarloaf often. My husband is a ski coach on the mountain, and when not skiing, I run a program for adults with intellectual disabilities and autism in the Portland, Maine area.
Why the Owner Chose Stratton:
We chose this property as a second home so that we could enjoy skiing all winter, and the many outdoor activities the area has to offer in the Spring, Summer and Fall. My husband has been a 'Sugarloafer' for almost 50 years, so we wanted to be close to the mountain.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The location of our home is just beautiful, especially after a new snowfall, which there has been plenty of this winter!! It is located on a very small dead-end road, with a couple of year round and several seasonal neighbors. We are surrounded by hills, fir trees, and wildlife. It's peaceful, relaxing, and a great get-a-way!You can feel yourself unwind as you travel down the road. We chose this home because it is small and perfect for two, but with 3 bedrooms, plenty big for visitors. It is cozy, rustically decorated, fairly new, and very clean. It's also a great place for our grandchild to visit, and other family members.
