This year-round waterfront vacation rental was built as a summer cottage by a millionaire in the thirties and retains much of its feel with large wood beam ceilings in the living and dining rooms. For our website visit please wellscottage org.
Plenty of room for the kids in this 3200 square foot, two-level house which has been fully insulated and modern HVAC. The house has four bedrooms; master with a queen bed, another has a queen bed, one has a double bed, and the fourth has a twin with a roll-out pop-up twin bed. The four ton central air along with the ceiling fans insure cool summer days and cozy nights. The living room sports an impressive fireplace and the downstairs playroom is complete with a (natural gas) wood burning stove, a new 55" HD 1080P flat sceen TV (new for 2012 season) , a foos ball table, and a ping pong table.
This NON-Smoking / NO Pets home has an incredibly massive, screened-in porch facing due east overlooking the scenic water paradise of Dividing Creek. The overlooking porch and hot tub allows parents to keep a watchful eye on the kids while they are playing in the water. There is a 6 MPH speed limit for boats at all times on Dividing Creek so kids and adults can feel safe floating and goofing around out in the creek.
This is the perfect waterfront get-away. Severna Park is ideally situated less than 15 miles from BWI Airport and between Annapolis, Baltimore and Washington DC. Located off the the Magothy, Dividing Creek is one of the most beautiful on the Chesapeake Bay. Water depth is impressive at 10' at the end of the pier. A large lower level makes a perfect spot for family picnics or parties. Plenty of clean lawn chairs stored in the shed are available. Three kayaks, inflatable rafts/tubes and a pedal boat provided for your enjoyment!. Lots of different sized life vests for our guests. The location and natural beauty of this land is unrivaled and was valued by Indians as well. Walk down the 18 rock steps to one of the most desirable, wide, deep water and weather protected creeks on the Chesapeake Bay. Blue Herons, Ducks, and Canadian Geese are your neighbors. Steamed crabs, corn-on-the-cob, and a cold brew is your celebration. Crab and fish right off the pier. Bring your fishing rods! For workoholics, wireless internet is available both inside and out!

- Linens Provided : Bath towels are in the linen closet upstairs and in the basket next to the bath room downstairs. Sheets are located in the bottom drawer of the chest in each bedroom. Hot tub towels are in the basket in the living room as you go out the door.

Year Purchased: 1995
John's grandfather owned the house next door. So as John was growing up he spent the summers down at the shore with his grandfather. He has fond memories of spending time in the swing on the porch over-looking Dividing Creek. Grandfather Wells was the fishing and crabbing expert and passed this down to his grandsons and neighbors. John and his wife Marianne lived in Iowa, Georgia, Virginia, Columbia, Maryland and we found ourselves back on Dividing Creek.
Why the Owner Chose Severna Park
We lived in Columbia, MD at the time. John was reading the Friday classified ads. He found an ad for a 4 bedroom house on Dividing creek for sale by owner but no address. He couldn't call so he made me call, within 30 seconds I figured out that the house for sale was right next to his grandfathers. It was the first time the house was advertised and we were the first callers, I guess it was fate. We moved in in July of 1995, the house needed major TLC, which we happily gave it, part of the reason we could afford the house to begin with. We were luckily enough to purchase a second run down house 50'away. John's grandfather had taught the 4 boys in the second house all he knew about fishing, crabbing etc.. So when the seller had two contracts in hand, he picked ours because of John's grandfather. The second house was in worse shape than the first. To make a long story short, we ended up getting a construction loan, and decided to fix it up to rent it. The builder did such a nice job that we moved in and decided to rent the first house. We enjoy sharing our little bit of heaven with our renters.

Wells Cottage is perfectly located. You can easily tour Annapolis, Baltimore and Washington DC from this location. The cottage is waterfront but close to shopping and restaurants. Many of our renters simply enjoy sitting in the porch swing and watching the activity in the creek. Groups of all types family, business, yoga retreats, all enjoy the peaceful and enjoyable setting of Wells Cottage.

The cottage was all it appeared to be in the photos, it was perfect for our family of 10 to get together for the holiday. Owner's were very helpful and have thought of everything a family with children would need for a holiday on the water.

This house was perfect for our family! We had 3 families meet and had 10 people total 6 adults and 4 kiddos! We played all day and loved the screened porch and crab traps at night! Would stay here again!

Six of us had a wonderful time during our stay from 2-11 April 2011. Although we spent alot of time visiting the sites of DC and Baltimore and many more, it was just nice returning to a house that was very charming and comfortable. The hot tub was great!! We will return during summer months and will stay and definitely recommend this place. Thanks John and Marrianne for allowing us to use your place.

The most relaxing time I 've had in years. Great location, so there's always something to do or if you want,do nothing and enjoy the tranquil setting. Better than home away from home.
