Tahoe definitely has the Keys to Heavenly's Pearly Gates
But Tahoe Keys is not just a fairweather friend. The lakeside community is just 6 miles from Heavenly Ski Resort, which straddles the California-Nevada border. Boasting over 97 runs and 30 lifts, it's one of the region's top snow sports centers. Heavenly's aerial tram climbs 2,000 feet up the mountain and has magnificent sweeping views of the High Sierra mountain range and the glittering waters of Lake Tahoe. It's open all year round. You could also nip into the Olympic Museum at High Camp, which celebrates the 1960 Winter Olympics, which took place here.
