We stayed at Shooting Star falls from 4/27/13 to 4/30/13 with another couple. The cabin was awesome, looks even better than the pictures. The DVD collection, pinball machine and various games were a great way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon. The screened porch over looked an amazing waterfall!! On a walk one morning we noticed that most of the cabins have some type of waterfall close by, but none compare to the one at this cabin! We ventured out shopping one day while the guys played golf and there are so many places to go in under 30 minutes. I will definitely stay here again and I recommend it to everyone, young and old!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I left a message also @ the cabin, but wanted to follow-up with you about our fabulous weekend at the Shooting Star Falls!! My daughter and two grandsons were ecstatic about the cabin and the all the amenities!!! It was just what the Doctor ordered!! Actually more than what he ordered! We loved all the stain glass & old world design was so charming and unexpected!! The boys spent 2 1/2 days on the Pinball machine! (until the quarters ran out! ) They so enjoyed the ping pong table for hours! Chase is only 6 and Trevor being 12, we didn't expect they would be playing ping pong, but to our amazement, Chase is ready to compete! Lol! So Daddy has set up the ping pong table @ home, as a result. Thank you! So much to say, I hope to not bore you. The waterfalls & hot tub lured us ALL outside, regardless of the freezing temps! The awesome fireplace!! Oh my!! There's no words to express how much we enjoyed it this weekend!! Not to forget to mention all the massive movie selections and the Wii games!! In other words, we had a fantastic memorable weekend! (as we did @ the Stargazer in 2006!!) We shall return! Maybe the big guys can come next time, maybe? I didn't quite manage the grilling as well as they might! :-) I LOVE Jazz and that was the first music we heard! Everyone knew then, Mamaw picked the right place!! Well just wanted you to know, sharing your home with us was a wonderful blessing! Thank you, Mark!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

What an amazing experience! This Thanksgiving my family decided to do something different. We wanted to celebrate this sacred holiday with close loved ones while being away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Shooting Star was exactly what we needed and had imagined. When we arrived at Big Canoe, the scenic views and natural aromas made everyone feel immediately relaxed. Then to top it all off, we were welcomed by the fragrance of peppermint upon entering the Shooting Star home. This property was just right for our group of six which included two couples, a grandparent and a very happy little guy. Shooting Star is a beautiful property with great space and loads of comfort. When we weren't feasting on fantastic holiday foods (which were prepared by a great grill, stove and oven and stored in a spacious refrigerator), we were napping the extremely comfortable beds, enjoying the warmth of the fire place, playing pinball (bring your quarters) or immersing ourselves in the soothing hot tub--our son's favorite! The Wi-Fi worked well and allowed us to capitalize on some great Black Friday sales and occasionally check on life back home. If you enjoy shopping, it is also about a half hour drive to North Georgia Premium Outlets. Needless to say, we will differently be back. If you decide to come here, be sure to drive slowly. Although it provides beautiful views, the roads can be a bit windy and steep. The directions can be a bit tricky, but the security guards at the North Gate are very helpful and will even provide a map. Our advice, once you enter Big Canoe, just take your time and Shooting Stars, a.k.a. relaxation, is just a few minutes away. Lastly, Mark, the owner, is absolutely fantastic. Excellent communication and a genuine desire to ensure that our experience was amazing.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

The wife and I and our sister and brother-in-law spent a week at Big Canoe and stayed at Shooting Star Falls. What a great adventure it was to be in the beautiful Georgia mountains with golf, hiking, animal watching, and the water all at our disposal. The cabin was wonderful, with great beds, beautiful surroundings and we loved the pinball machine. We would recommend Mark's place to anyone looking to get away from it all and next to nature in Big Canoe. We had a wonderful time throughout the week.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We made a last minute weekend trip to Big Canoe to celebrate our anniversary. This home is beautiful and very romantic. I would like to visit again and bring the children next time because there are so many activities in the area. I am glad that we brought food and beverages for breakfast the next day in the lovely kitchen.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Wowee!! What a lovely location. We wholly enjoyed the full sized, bountifully equipped kitchen. The movie collection was a wonderful surprise. We could have stayed inside all week, if not for the allure of the surrounding woods, rivers, and falls. This house has a wonderful atmosphere in every room. The furnishings are tasteful, comfortable and solid and the decor overall is really appealing. A great place to relax or to be active, as you like it!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This is no ordinary cabin. Usually people tend to think of cabins in the outdoors as dilapidated, outdated and musty. Shooting Star Falls shatters any notion of this sort. I was absolutely blown away how neat, lavish and serene the entire house was! It really didn't sink in until the next day when we had breakfast out on the screened in porch with the waterfall in the background. There's everything you could imagine from bug spray to a pinball machine! Pinball machine? FACT- there is a pinball machine! The bed was almost impossible to get out of because I had the most amazing sleep. The kitchen and grill awakened any sort of desire to cook. If you don't want to cook there is an amazing place called Appalachia right down the road that is sure to satisfy any craving. We were truly blown away from start to finish. On the day we left it felt like leaving an old friend (THAT'S how much we fell in love with the place). To anyone reading this, I highly encourage you to stop reading and reserve this cabin now.....before I buy it!Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

Hi Mark, Wanted you to know that we had a GREAT time - thank you for enabling to have a memoriable birthday weekend! We LOVED the cabin. You have great taste! Matter of fact I really would like to know where you got the chaise that’s in front of the window in the Master bedroom – I’d like to buy one just like it. And when you say the cabin is well stocked - you are not kidding - I don't think I've ever stayed in a rental anywhere where the kitchen was so well stocked - I really didn't have to bring anything other than food and drinks (great to know for next time)! BTW - everyone needs to check out the sign/note on the pin ball machine upsta\irs - what a NEAT idea! I can’t wait to check out your other 2 properties to see which one I like best. I think it’ll be tough beating Shooting Star Falls though.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We loved this house from the moment we walked in. Our favorite part was the screen porch overlooking the waterfall cascading down the hill. It was a little rainy when we were there, so we just hung out inside and watched movies and sat in the hot tub. I totally recommend this house for a romantic getaway or a family retreat.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway.

My husband and I just spent a wonderful 5 days at Shooting Star Falls. The house is fabulous and well stocked. We were there two days by ourselves (very romantic) and then joined by another couple. The guys golfed, the girls shopped ( close to the Outlet Mall ) and we shared great meals and laughs on the screen porch. My husband even squeaked in a little work since there was internet. We've already booked a repeat visit in two months.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: Hi, I am Mark. I love to travel just like you probably do. I feel so lucky and blessed to own this beautiful home and even luckier to get to share it with you. I am involved in real estate (own and rent long and short term rentals). Its a good thing that I am so handy and love to fix things and paint! My favorite thing is getting to stay at the cabin after some guests have left and getting to read all the kind, and amazing comments left in the guest book. It feels really good to know that I have brought a little joy and happiness to others!!
Why the Owner Chose Big Canoe:
Big Canoe really is such a beautiful place. Its the perfect combination of privacy and nature, but at the same time you won't feel like you are in the middle of the woods all alone. There is so much to do from fishing, swimming, canoeing, golfing, and my two favorites..hiking and eating out.
