La Casa Punta Azul is a piece of paradise for a relaxing get away in a beautiful setting. The views are spectacular. The house is very comfortable with everything you need including wireless internet just in case you can’t live without it. The owners have an informational book at the house that is very helpful . You can cook for yourself, ride the coastal express to town to enjoy eating out, but the best is having Juanna cook authentic island food—including freshly caught and prepared fish and crab as well as other authentic dishes. Loved everything she prepared. Leonardo, the caretaker was so helpful. He got us a fresh coconut right from the tree and also taught us how to kayak. We took 2 trips to the reef and snorkeled there so Leonardo could have a good laugh! Getting to know Leonardo and Juanna is an unforgetable experience. They were so helpful but also took time to show us a different way of life and how to use the resources around you. It was great making new friends. The palapa over the water was heavenly. It came complete with a view of the aqua-blue water, tropical fish (we also saw a starfish and a sting ray), breeze and hammocks for a nap. What a perfect, relaxing place for a massage. The stars at night were incredible--never seen the Milky Way so clear. The stars seem so close you could touch them. Also saw a shooting star. If you’re looking for peace and tranquility, unbelievable views day and night, someone to cook for you and a nice place to lay your head, you will be delighted with your stay!

Dear All, I visited “Casa Punta Azul” in June 2013 as a “recon mission”, to evaluate this beautiful paradise for a potential family vacation. At the end of July, my 3 children (ages 14/15/17) and I resided at Casa Punta Azul for a week. My children voted this the best vacation ever, therefore, it was a very special vacation for me as well. Leonardo and Juana were great hosts and catered to our every need. On one day my 15 year old daughter and I went to San Pedro while my other children stayed on the Palapa and caught fish. Leonardo had to remove the fish from the hook, cater to my children, and clean the fish. It was over the top! My son loved riding Jet skis- forget the fact that he is 14. Moreover, they delivered the Jet skis directly to our private Palapa, 15 minutes from town. We did this on two different dates. Leonardo (age 60) rode his first Jet ski too…. My oldest daughter (17) enjoyed the snorkeling in Shark/Ray Alley the most. It was a 20 minute boat ride, very nice. Swim with nurse sharks, various fish, sting rays, etc… in a designated park reserve in the reef- definitely a MUST! Several evenings I inquired with my children as to whether or not they preferred a resort with room service and restaurants. They unequivocably voted NO! The vacation was one heck of a bargain monetarily and more importantly this was a very special vacation for our family. Let Juana cook for you; her rice and beans are fantastic! My children became close friends with Leonardo and Juana. It is part of the unique warm experience at Casa Punta Azul. My 17 year old was allowed to rent a golf cart in San Pedro. It reminds me of Cozumel 25 years ago. This resort island will definitely become overwhelmed with development in the future. Enjoy it now!!! Sincerely, Raleigh

We visited this beautiful secret place in paradise for our honeymoon week. We were greeted by the most amazing couple that take care of the house and the guests. While little English, it didnt matter. They had the biggest kindest hearts and treated us like gold. We spent the week fishing off the dock, sipping wine and local beers, cooking our own meals, going back and forth in the water taxi and just enjoying the peace and quiet of the ocean. I had massages almost everyday from Mary, the recommended lady who was amazing! We already cannot wait to return back and experience it again. Here's to the good life! Cheers!

The Casa de Punta Azul was just what the doctor ordered! A peaceful and very quiet respite. The home is situated on 3 acres of pristine white beachfront with no neighbors within 500 meters to the north and 1,000 meters to the south. In fact, I have already scheduled 7 days later in July to bring my three children (ages 17, 15 and 14). This will prove to be a life altering experience for them with no cell phones, gadgets, television, etc… This will certainly enlighten three teenagers from the Washington DC metropolitan area. The home was serene, beautiful and clean. The full time caretaker, Leonardo, maintained the grounds in perfect order. Although, he spoke no English he understood my every inquiry. Upon arrival at the Palapa, Leonardo was waiting on the pier with his wheelbarrow to carry my baggage and groceries to the Caribbean designed home. I spent time reef kayaking, fishing, swimming, snorkeling and many hours relaxing. The Palapa was my favorite location and the mosquitoes (moscos) never found me on the Palapa. A few suggestions for visitors…pack only two sets of clothes, frankly a swimsuit is all that is needed. Snorkeling under the Palapa and pier with an underwater camera was very enjoyable and easy. Employ Carlos’ taxi service around San Pedro (671-4446). He is well known, respected and very accommodating. Carlos owns seven taxis and was a true asset to this vacation. Casa de Punta Azul, know as the Whitehouse to the locals, is 8 miles north of San Pedro, only a $25 USD round trip boat/taxi expense. I thoroughly enjoyed the “primitive” Caribbean atmosphere in San Pedro. Shopping for supplies/groceries was truly a highlight. The people are friendly and gracious, most locals speak English. My “city” children will be in awe of the colorful narrow streets, which are bustling with traffic, mostly golf carts. I never had any concerns of safety. Nearly all locals were always bare foot. Several nights I took the private boat taxi to various restaurants in San Pedro. My favorite establishment was Estel’s near the Tackle Box, directly on the beach. Try the lobster burritos. The restaurant floors were sand with a chalkboard menu. I also found the bait fishing where the reef meets the ocean to be very robust. Fresh sardines brought schools of various fish, which once again Leonardo would clean. His trusted companion, “Chimaca” was also a tremendous asset to this visit. “Chimaca” is Spanish for little girl and she is an adopted puppy from the local shelter

Thank you so much for allowing us to use your lovely home! We loved having time to relax as a family. Being in a home with the privacy and seclusion of our own beach and dock was the perfect setting. Leonardo met our every need usually before we even thought of it. He always had a lot to talk about, unfortunately we speak only un poco Spanish and understood only vaguely his intent. If you get a chance have him get you a few fresh coconuts. He has done a wonderful job of landscaping this area – he is obviously a hard worker who takes pride in a job well done. Loved Chamaka! She is a sweetheart and her company was much appreciated. Brittany and her crew took care of us in style. They took us fishing, snorkeling, and to the Mayan ruins. The entire experience was top notch. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to “drop off the grid” and get away from the daily grind. The Beck Family

Romantic Getaway in Paradise
Romantic Getaway in Paradise
My boyfriend and I recently stayed here for an early Valentine's getaway. It was such a beautiful and peaceful place to stay. The views were to die for. I went kayaking and snorkeling (shark/ray alley is awesome) most every day, while he fished right outside the house. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. The house was larger than we thought with a good size kitchen for dining in, perfect for a couples trip. We loved having our own private beach and private dock, most evenings we would just go sit on the dock at sunset with a glass of wine. They had island water taxi's to take us to and from the town to the island shops and enjoy the local restaurants. Loved that the local rum and beer were cheap, which made the trip even better! Travel time getting there (from the west coast) is a bit long, but well worth it once you're there. Hope you find your way to this tropical gem.

Excellent place to relax, and maybe fish!
Excellent place to relax, and maybe fish!
I've had the pleasure of staying here several times. Each time has been wonderfully relaxing, peaceful and fun. I like fishing, and it's easy to just walk into the water or fish off the peer, or get local guides by the day or half day. They have an onsite groundskeeper that does a great job of cleaning up the beach and house surroundings, as well as helping with whatever you need: luggage and groceries and whatnot. Easy access to a few good restaurants, walking distance from a fun, casual bar, etc. If you want privacy and a taste of the simple life (drinking beers or rum on the veranda or out on the dock), this place worked for us!
