My wife and I had the opportunity to spend a few nights at the Hale Pali last month. We were married on the beach on September 10th, and were fortunate enought to be able to use the house for a couple of nights and for our reception. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. Being right on the water, watching the turtles, sipping a cocktail and spending time with good friends and family made for an amazing time. At night, sitting on the Lanai, listening to the crashing waves made for an great evening. The house is spotless and has ALL the comforts of home. You could not ask for more. Don't stay at a hotel....stay at the Hale Pali! You will not be disappointed.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Hale Pali. We were pleasantly surprised to find it much bigger and more luxurious than we were expecting. It had all of the amenities promised, and the special touches they added made it extra charming! The owners are truly wonderful people who are a pleasure to work with. They take pride in the Hale Pali and it shows. We were left detailed instructions, like exactly which windows to open to keep the house cool and where to find groceries and local food. It made our stay enjoyable and easy. The Hale Pali is in a remote location, so it is perfect for a romantic getaway or relaxing escape. Be aware that it is in a lush area with bugs, so be sure to follow the instructions on which windows to keep closed. We did and had no problems with bugs. We did, however, enjoy the sounds of frogs as we fell asleep. As an added bonus, we got to watch turtles feeding in the water every morning as we ate breakfast. It was such a treat! Overall, we had a terrific stay at the Hale Pali and would recommend it to anybody wanting a secluded getaway in a beautiful home.

I really enjoyed my two-month stay at Hale Pali this summer. Being right on the ocean and watching the sea turtles in the surf was a real treat! The house is very open and bright and tastefully decorated. The lanai offers serenity and a great view of the waves as the crash against the lava rock; you can even feel the ocean spray. I would highly recommend this place for those that was a quiet and serene vacation here on the Big Island. Aloha!
Owner response:"Wonderful two-month stay!" "We are so thrilled that our guests love the Hale Pali Aloha!"

Feb. 11, 2010. We had a fabulous time at Hale Pali. It is a beautiful home located right on the ocean in a quiet residential neighborhood about a 10 minute drive from Pahoa. It was great to have internet access, Dish TV, washer/dryer, hairdryer, linens, and hand soap. Some masks and snorkels are also provided. Much better value than staying at a hotel. The house is in a great location for sight-seeing, it is about a 45 minute drive to the Volcanoes National Park and 30 minutes to Hilo. We circumnavigated the entire island in one long day. We did not like the Kailua/Kona area at all, too arid except on the coast and too many mega resorts. We loved Pahoa, it is a very quaint (non-touristy) town with a variety of restaurants (we enjoyed Nings and Kaleo's), a natural foods market and Malama's market. Be sure to bring flashlights if you want to view the lava flow at night (we forgot ours). You must also go to the Hilo Farmer's marke (best on Wed and Sat) and the Maku'u Farmer's Market on Sundays for locally grown tropical fruits, veggies, crafts, and great food. Some of the highlights of our trip included watching a mother humpback and her calf cavorting in the ocean from our lanai (wonderful!). getting up close and personal with sea turtles at the Punalu'u Black Sand Beach, going to the Volcanoes National Park, feasting on fresh papayas and mangos every day, and the great weather. We will be back!

My husband and I had a memorable vacation at the Hale Pali. We watched green sea turtles everyday and saw pods of dolphins play just off the lanai. The evening was spent sipping island wine on the lanai and watching cruise ships go by and knowing we were so Blessed to be here. The sunrise is breathe taking! What a Wonderful way to wake-up to a new beginning. This is truly a very special place. We have told all our friends in numerous states about this Special Home and will return again soon.
