My husband, two boys, and I just returned from our wonderful vacation to Belize. We had a difficult time deciding where to stay and were so glad that we stayed at Sapphire House. The owners of this home are WONDERFUL! Although we never met in person, they sent emails wishing us a wonderful vacation, and checked up on us after our return. I had been a bit nervous about renting a place from someone that I did not know. They alleviated all of my fears! The air conditioning in the home works amazingly well (a feature that should be on every travelers list to this beautiful, but hot and humid country). The home was comfortably furnished. The kitchen was a blessing! With a family of four, eating out can get a bit expensive. It was nice to cut down some of the cost by having access to the kitchen. I think it is worth mentioning that the grocery store on the island basically has many food items that we see in the states. They just are about double the price. Things that are imported are expensive, so plan accordingly. Many reviews suggested renting bikes because the house was farther out. We just walked and never found that it was too far. We enjoyed the peace and serenity that the home offers in the area that it is located. We would highly recommend visiting this island. If you do, there really is no better place to stay than Sapphire House!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We enjoyed our vacation very much. It was a totally different experience than what we are used to but never the less it was a very positive one. We loved the people of Caye Caulker. We fell in love with the 2 little Asian girls at the Amigo grocery store. We found ourselves going by there frequently just to stop in and say “Hi”. The arrival went very smoothly although the ride from the airport to the water taxi was a bit scary. When we got to the island we got a ride to the house from Lulu. He was great. We saw him frequently during the week and made arrangements with him to pick us up to catch the water taxi back to the mainland on Saturday. Joannne & Allison were very helpful although, luckily we didn’t have to call on them very much. It was nice to have the house as our base and be able to enjoy the mornings at our own pace and not have to worry about being at meals at a certain time.We even had a late night visitor one night that woke us up but must have been very shy because when Gerard got up to check out the noise we heard in the kitchen , he fled when the lights were turned on. We figure it was a lizard and he was making a rustling sound in some snack bags that we had left on the counter. The next night we put them away and we didn’t hear from him, although he may have been there just watching us sleep. The weather was very nice, only a bit of rain on Friday am. We went snorkelling with Anwar tours and Jose was terrific . We have been snorkelling before but that was by far the best experience yet. We really enjoyed the whole atmosphere of the island . The food was terrific, the service was top notch. We rented bikes for the week and enjoyed the ride in & out of town each day.We met some extremely nice people from around the world. We found the experience very unique and although it wouldn’t be for everyone we truly enjoyed ourselves and would definitely do it again. We will certainly put a plug in for Caye Caulker and also for Sapphire House to anyone wishing to visit Belize. Thank You for allowing us to stay in your home. We will cherish the memories forever.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We recently spent our Christmas vacation on Caye Caulker and stayed at the Sapphire House. The property is well maintained, large and with plenty of open screened windows for a steady ocean breeze (there is also A/C but we did not use it). The owners and property managers were very helpful and responsive through email with every aspect of our trip planning. We also used a provisioning service - cayeliving.com - and arrived to a full refrigerator, water and drinks - a perfect way to start an incredible vacation. We recommend renting bikes - lots of fun and easier to get to the Split and the main part of the town - and a good way to explore the island.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, families with teenagers.

We had a wonderful stay on Caye Caulker/Sapphire House. House was as we expected, plenty of room, clean and comfortable. Kitchen had all we needed, got a little confused on the water issue, but property mgr, Joanne, helped out. Liked being in quiet area, could listen and watch the birds. Appreciated the AC, the washer/dryer, the restaurant notes in house. Our favorite place to eat dinner was Rosie's for the great seafood. Main St busy with vendors, loved trying the different ones, like the Budget Man. Nice people, friendly. Bicycles a must if you like to explore. Bruce fished the flats with Haywood Curry/Anglers Abroad and had a lesson. Really nice couple with a small hotel near the Split. Owners real easy to work with, photos did a good job, but more spacious than you could tell. Great snorkeling with Juni, swimming ok at the split, not my favorite. We walked and rode everywhere. It's close to the airport, don't let a taki overcharge you, it's in walking distance. We would stay here again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We loved staying at the Sapphire House. It is located just a short bike ride south from town and is in the quieter part. This older home has lots of charm and has everything you need for hosting a small family. The rooms are larger than what the photos show and it has huge ceilings. It also has a large, lush fenced in yard and great views of the tropical surroundings. The kitchen is large and well equipped and there is a washing machine inside (a luxury on Caye Caulker). We highly recommend this home if laid back is what you are looking for.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My boyfriend and I just got back from 10 days on beautiful Caye Caulker and were very happy with our stay at the Sapphire House. The large secluded yard made the veranda a perfect place to read or relax in the hammock. The house was spacious and had everything we needed from towels to kitchen supplies to air conditioning. It can be a bit of a walk to the split so we rented bikes to get around easier, however our walks to and from town were always enjoyable. The island has a lot of fun to offer, we cannot wait to return!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

My friend and I went to Caye Caulker for a week after Christmas. We loved that Sapphire House was off the beaten path in a quiet area. We rented bikes and was at the Split in five minutes. It has lovely fauna and a great deck to watch the iguanas and birds at play. The owners and the house manager were extremely helpful and nice, and the house was clean and well maintained. Great for a family or two couples! I would definitely visit again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Our stay at Sapphire House was very nice. Our week featured rainy days and hot days alternately and we were very comfortable there. We did find the walk to the Split a bit long after the first few times and VERY long in the midst of tropical storms and so we'd suggest renting bikes. It makes the distances a non-issue. While the Caye has changed a lot since I was here 20 years ago, it's still a wonderfully laid back place to relax. Thanks for an enjoyable week!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

If you are visiting Caye Caulker, this is the house you need to stay in. It is in a great location, and the house itself was amazing. The full size kitchen, and large sitting area made eating meals in extremely easy. The house is close enough to walk to the island airport if you fly in, walk to the split to hang out, and secluded enough to have a quite evening on the porch.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Sapphire House for 5 nights and it was a great place to stay! It's a short walk or bike ride away from the main streets of town, so it was nice and quiet after a day of snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, or exploring the island. The house was clean, spacious, and sunny. The balcony was an added bonus, and the kitchen had everything you'd need to prepare meals at the house. Both the owners and property managers were helpful in making sure we had a pleasant stay, and the property managers were just a few minutes or phone call away in case you needed anything. The house would be great for families or 4 people, we had more than enough room. I would recommend this house to family or friends visiting Caye Caulker and we hope to return someday! Snorkeling with manatees, nurse sharks and sea turtles was my favorite part of our stay. The island was fun and laid back, and the quick bike ride to the split for a swim was great during hot afternoons! There are lots of restaurants close by if you don't feel like cooking. Overall, we had wonderful time staying on Caye Caulker and Sapphire house was icing on the cake!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2
