Why the Owner Chose Londa

We fell in love with the Mugello area of Tuscany and in particular our local village of Londa while spending holidays here in the late 1990s. What clinched it for us was the welcome we were given by the local people who have all become great friends.

The Unique Benefits at this Private Tuscan Farmhouse

A stunning location with spectacular views across the Sieve valley. Private and secluded without being remote. Friendly local village with great facilities and shopping. Proximity to Florence and ease of reaching other important Tuscan towns.

Owner's Map of Londa

We bought L'Olmo in 2000 as a holiday home and we now love to share it with family, friends and anyone else who loves Tuscany and wants to experience its unique friendliness and culture. We still spend the winter in England where we have our main home, family and friends but we love the summers in the Mugello. Our daughter, Lizzy, got married here in 2008 and we couldn't have chosen a more beautiful location for her special day.

    • My wife and I and seven family members as young as 11 had a wonderful week at L'Olmo. The Lewis' were perfect--they were there when you needed help and guidance, but otherwise very unobtrusive. The house was beautifull restored, the accommodations were outstanding, and the scenery was breathtaking. Far beyond our expectations. We enjoy cooking, so we particularly appreciated the very modern kitchen; and having a washer and dryer was very important with the large group. The grandchildren swam every day after the Tuscany sightseeing, and that was very important to our total enjoyment. They also enjoyed table tennis. Three of the family work so we had a laptop computer. Even though we were in the country, we were able to get internet reception in the kitchen much of the day. The week was superb.

    • What an incredible 7 days spent in Tuscany and at L’Olmo. Our hosts Margaret and Martyn were wonderful. They provided such good assistance with things to do, places to see, and restaurants to eat at. When we forgot to pick up some Basil from the market one day, Margaret was quick to the rescue with some from her thriving garden, along with some vegetables for dinner. There are so many brochures and books in the house it took the better part of an afternoon to review them all. The house couldn’t have been better. Plenty of room for everyone, both inside and out. The pool was so refreshing after hiking the trails around the property. Be sure to find the Chestnut forest – we even picked up a few porcupine barbs along the way. We all couldn’t believe we were staying in a 500 year old villa! We made day trips to Pisa, Lucca, Siena, San Gimignano, and Florence. Very convenient to them all. Be sure to take the train to Florence – its so convenient. Be sure to buy your ticket from the Tobacchi shop in Londa when you’re picking up your groceries and you’ll be set. Our most favorite part of the drive up to the house was passing through the farm and driving between the house and barn. The owners would peek out from the doorway, waving to welcome us back. The kids got a kick out of seeing the cows and chickens in the road. We had such a great time that there’s not a day that goes by that we don’t think with envy of our week at L’Olmo and the wonderful memories of a trip of a lifetime. Hopefully only one of many to come!

    • It has been 6 weeks since I left L'Olmo and it still feels like a dream. The house was amazing. Martyn and Margaret are very hospitable and friendly. The house and grounds were impeccably clean and inviting. There was more than enough room for our families(10 people), the kids enjoyed exploring the land, ping- pong and the pool. The drive up the mountain was a bit daunting, but not a problem at all. We enjoyed the house, cooking in the well equipped kitchen, eating and drinking on the porch and hiking the trails. Day trips to other cities was easy to navigate(with a map).Plenty of resource material and maps in the house.I would recommend the house without any reservations at all and would go back today if I could. If I close my eyes I can still smell the fresh lavender.....
