We invite you to the vacation of your dreams on the Nayarit Riviera at CASA SOLEDAD in Platanitos. Jaw dropping views, lush gardens, seclusion, private infinity pool, 5 minute walk to sand beaches, eco tour possibilities, gorgeous sunsets, perfect location, whale watching, fishing, all paved road accessibility, and more make this a perfect romantic or family “get away” vacation spot. The fare here is luxurious simplicity, with reading, swimming, beach activities, relaxing, etc. taking center stage. You can hire a local fisherman to take you fishing or sightseeing along the coast. Helping to release baby sea turtles into the wild at nearby Turtle Beach might be your choice. Or you might want to arrange for a whale watching tour.
Casa Soledad has a stairway leading to the sea and a midway covered Palapalita. From the main patio area watch Pelicans flying in formation just above your head or whales breaching off shore. The covered outdoor living area will protect you from the mid day sun while the steady cooling sea breezes will gently caress you within a temperature range and weather pattern that is usually simply ideal.
We prefer to limit guests to 6. Three bedrooms have queen beds, and one, the crow’s nest, has two bunk beds. The three main bedrooms have air conditioning, if needed. The Palapa covered master suite has views you can only dream about waking up to.
The beach area has Palapa covered restaurants offering mainly local fare and pescado seranado or fresh fish grilled over an open fire. A food/meal package is available, with our maid Alicia, providing two meals per day. The corner “store” has a few limited items (eggs, chips, beer, etc). Freshly caught fish is available at the beach. However, Casa Soledad has a fully equipped kitchen, and should you choose to totally self-cater your meals, we will be glad to give you necessary information on how and where to find food markets upon leaving the airport in Puerta Vallarta or in the neighboring villages of Las Varas and Zacualpan. Some advance planning is necessary.

Why the Owner Chose Platanitos
Casa Soledad is about 60 miles north of the Puerto Vallarta airport in the small fishing village of Platanitos. We like it because it is not yet overrun with tourists but is close enough to a major hub so that transportation is not a problem. It is a 3 hr. flight from Denver. An $8 Taxi ride takes you to the Bus Station. A $9 Bus ride gets you to Las Varas, and another $20 Taxi takes you to the front door. It is accessible seclusion in an unbelievably beautiful location. Literally within walking distance to undisturbed beaches. Fresh fish right off the boat is available from the Restaurants at the Beach. You won't believe the thrill of watching dolphins and whales splashing offshore.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Platanitos Beach and the Restaurants are a short 5 minute walk. A bus runs hourly to nearby Towns and Villages for shopping if needed. The "Corner Store" Abborotes Gonzalez, is 100 yds. away. Platanitos Beach is safe and a favorite of the local population as a Family area. The people are exceptionally friendly. And then there is the sound of the constantly pounding surf for the deepest sleep you have ever experienced.
Platanitos is a small fishing Village. Here where the cobblestone entry to the beach intersects with the paved Highway is "Abborrotes Gonzales", A small "Corner Store".
The Beach area contains many Palapa roofed restaurants specializing in fresh fish.
Platanitos beach is a favorite family beach area for the Native Population. It is a small protected bay considered relatively safe most of the time. However, caution is always advised.
I enjoy a very early morning walk around this unpaved "Ring Road" around "The Point". I find watching the light change early in the morning here spectacular. But then I am an artist!

Venice is usually deserted and lovely. It can be accessed from Casa Soledad either by "rock hopping" or by following a trail accessible up the road a bit.

Casa Soledad is owned by a partnership of 3 couples. (1) Richard and Lindsay; Richard is a contractor and Lindsay is an artist. (2) Rick and Linda; Rick is an artist (sculptor) and Linda his Business Manager. (3) David and Joy; David is an artist(he makes commercials) and Joy is an Organic Farmer. In the photo, I (Rick) am the one behind the camera. We all feel that the chance to spend time at Casa Soledad is a dream come true.
