Pet Friendly - Cozy & Comfortable Log Cabin - 2 Screen Porches
- Minimum stay:Contact owner
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
This cozy log cabin embraces you from the moment you enter - any time of year. Whether it's morning coffee on the porch, savoring the sunset over the mountains from the deck, enjoying the beach on a sunny summer day at Mirror Lake or Lake Lure, or cuddling in front of the fire on a winter's eve, you are encouraged to catch your breath, sigh, and relax in a tranquil, natural setting in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Perhaps the window seat will beckon to you to indulge in a good book or a well-deserved nap. Enjoy lunch in one of the two screened in porches.
Springtime brings the cabin's great show of azaleas and dogwoods in bloom. Share the deck during the summer with the hummingbirds by day and the fireflies in the evening. The variety of trees provides a colorful, wondrous autumn. Winter mountain views are majestic.
Broadband (high speed internet) and WiFi are convenient for checking out local attractions and keeping in touch.
Located in Riverbend, a gated community, guests have use of its amenities just a 5 minute drive from the cabin: Mirror Lake (a very pretty,e private lake with swimming beach), covered picnic pavilion overlooking the lake, easy access to the Broad River for fishing, swimming, or adventuring, and a scenic picnic area along the river. (The cabin is not on the lake.)
Lovingly furnished with an eclectic mix of antiques and rustic pieces, the great room has a fireplace, cathedral ceiling, skylights, and ceiling fans. TV, VCR, DVD player, a large collection of movies, satellite TV, WiFi, and board games provide many choices for entertainment. Sleeping accommodations offer two bedrooms (one king; one queen), and a futon in the great room converts to a double bed.
Two full baths (linens provided). Ceiling fan in each room. Central heat and air.
The kitchen is fully equipped including refrigerator/freezer, stove/oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster over, coffee maker, crock pot, blender, pots and pans, utensils, and dishes.
Favorite spots are the deck and the two screened porches. A hammock chair, cedar porch swing, gas grill, and patio furniture are provided for your enjoyment. The double hammock under the trees is a great spot to read.
Try tubing on the Broad River, have a zip line adventure, shopping in the charming villages of Chimney Rock, Bat Cave, Rutherfordton, or Black Mountain, taking a narrated boat tour of Lake Lure, visiting the Biltmore Estate, or playing at the water park at Lake Lure. Three golf courses are very close by.
A variety of restaurants are within a 5 to 20 minute drive, and the cabin 'handbook' includes menus from many of them.
Well behaved pets are very welcome! The deck is enclosed with a railing and connects to a fenced-in yard.
No smoking at all, please.

We found the cabin to be very well appointed, clean, and well maintained. The two screened porches were very nice as well. It was great to eat outside no matter the weather. The owner was wonderful to work with and gave extremely good directions. We would definitely stay at this cabin again. Toured Biltmore, Chimney Rock State Park, Arts District downtown Ashville, and Hendersonville. Highly recommend 12 Bones (barbecue) in Ashville.Recommended for: People with disabilities, families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Your were busy!! -- visiting so many neat places. Glad to hear that you enjoyed the cabin and the screen porches (my favorite spots too). Thank you for entering a review. As this will be review # 100, it is very special!

The setting is beautiful and peaceful. The location is perfect for day trips to Ashville, Hendersonville and Flat Rock, and the waterfalls near Saluda. Chimney Rock State Park was awesome and we enjoyed the Blue Ridge Parkway. It was wonderful coming "home" to Anne's cabin each day. It is so comfortable and inviting. Anne has thought of everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible. We loved the fact that our dogs were welcome to travel with us. They loved the fenced in yard and the many dog friendly trails. We hope to return to North Carolina soon and Anne's cabin is our first choice.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for taking the time to enter a review. Glad to hear that you and the dogs enjoyed your stay at the cabin. The waterfall tour sounds great!

My sister Dorothy & I, along with our 3 year old brother & sister Malte Tzus, Harley & Annie, just returned from a wonderful week at Anne's cabin. We chose Annie's cabin because our "kids" were welcome. When we arrived the azaleas were in full bloom and the whole countryside was bursting with spring foliage. The cabin was exactly as Anne & all the reviewers described & we couldn't have been more comfortable. Anne has seen to every detail & there wasn't anything that we needed that wasn't there. You could tell that Anne had put herself in the place of the renters and carefully thought out what she would need if she were visiting. We were pleased that Anne & her friend Leslie took the time to stop by shortly after we got there & visited with us. Anne is just as warm & sweet as she is in her correspondence. Harley & Annie loved the cabin, the deck and the fenced in back yard. They made themselves right at home. We took them to the Riverbend swimming hole twice & turned them loose. Even though they don't swim, they loved the big area next to the river to run & play. We went to Asheville one day & walked around the town. Harley & Annie went to their first dog friendly restaurant, Carmel's Kitchen in historic grove arcade and then just down the street to Three Dog Bakery for a special treat. One afternoon we spent leisurely walking around the town of Chimney Rock, looking in the shops & eating ice cream. There are many activities in the area that we didn't take advantage of because we came to just relax & spend some time visiting & playing with Harley & Annie. We caught up on our reading & sleeping & enjoyed driving the mountain roads taking pictures. I live in the Houston area where it is very flat so driving the mountain roads around Lake Lure was like riding a roller coaster. The grocery store, Ingles, in Lake Lure is wonderful and has everything you need & more. Don't miss it. Not what you expect to see in a small town. We ate most of our meals on the screened in porches listening to the birds serenading us. We came away from our visit relaxed & wishing we lived closer so we could visit more often. Thank you so much Anne for sharing your little slice of heaven in the Blue Ridge Mountains with us & our babies. Barbara & Harley Dorothy & AnnieOwner response: Barbara and Dorothy - Thank you so much for the lovely and thorough review you have entered. It was a pleasure to meeting both of you as well as your adorable pups! Glad to hear that you all enjoyed the cabin and the area. I agree about Ingles supermarket - it's wonderful to have a large store located so conveniently. Although it's a long drive, hope to see you another time. Thanks again.

Hi Anne, Just wanted to thank you for sharing your wonderful cabin. Many rentals say "pets allowed" but we always have felt that you make your cabin truly pet friendly. MacDuff and Finlay had a great time. Walked them in Morse park along Lake Lure which they loved. We enjoyed being there in the spring and took advantage of a boat tour - our first, since we usually go in the winter. Learned lots about the making of the lake, etc. In short, we had a great time. Thank you again, Brenda and jeffRecommended for: People with disabilities, families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: That's great that you got to do the boat tour this time -- one of my favorites. Thank you for taking the time to enter a comment.

I needed to get away with my family after working 70+ hours a week and this was the place to go!!!!!! Anne has the cutest cabin and thought of everything someone may need...we had quality family time every night and loved everything about our trip. Our 15 & 10 year old loved being able to hike with Dad while I got to sit by the fire and catch up on a good book. SO VERY PEACEFUL. :-)Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

For those who don't want to leave their beloved pets behind this place is a gem. Everything you can need or want and everything for your pet. The fenced in yard was a dream. Lovely deck, lots of wildlife. Near to many hiking trails and restaurants and a short trip to Asheville if you feel so inclined. We thoroughly enjoyed our week and wished we had brought some of our book and videos to contribute to the already good library she has. Will definitely do that next time. It was quiet and you could swing in the porch swing and read (or sleep) and a wonderful cool breeze the week we were there. Definitely recommend and will revisit this wonderful cabin.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Nice to hear that you and the dogs enjoyed the cabin and the area. I agree - there are some very nice places to walk with the dogs! Thank you for adding your comment.

Anne's cabin was perfect for our mini vacation in the NC mountains. Our dog, Xena, did not want to leave, nor did we. This vacation rental is close to many attractions in Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. The cabin is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We enjoyed reading by the wood stove, sitting out in the swing on the deck enjoying a beautiful mountain view, and taking Xena on walks by the lake and river. It is obvious that Anne has much experience with renters and is dedicated to making one's stay as perfect as possible. Thanks for everything, Anne.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Glad to hear that you and your pup enjoyed the cabin and the area. There are so many nice places to walk together. Thanks for sharing your experience - hope to welcome you back another time.

My wife and I wanted to get out of the city where we live for some relaxation, fresh air and mostly... comfort and quiet. This cabin was absolutely perfect for what we were looking for. The location in a gated community, near the top of a very large hill (or small mountain) provided the relative seclusion, wonderful views, interaction with nature and solitude - without giving up the amenities that we were used to. The cabin itself is extremely family friendly. There's plenty of room, space for children to play or run around, complete with a front deck overlooking the mountains, and screened-in front and back porches that allow for fresh air, even if it's raining (or snowing). There's TV access, along with wireless computer access and a couple of CD players and DVD players. Bring your own laptop. The kitchen is well-equipped and if all you bring is food, you should be able to prepare it and eat it just as you do at home. There is a dishwasher, washer and dryer, two very comfortable bathrooms, heat and AC and a very nice fireplace insert. We were totally comfortable. The cabin decor is almost like a ski lodge inside with the log cabin walls throughout the house and high ceilings in the great room and kitchen. We didn't bring our pets, but we wished we had after we saw the fenced in yard (great for dogs) and the little kennel-like sleeping areas inside the living room area. Everything was so comfortable we really didn't feel like we had to go anywhere to enjoy our time together. But it's very close to a lot of things in the Lake Lure area so we had fun going out also. If you get up early in the morning, you're likely to see some deer wandering around outside. There's easily room to park two vehicles off the roadway in the driveway area provided. There are instructions on how to use the various appliances and it's all very homey and cozy. The owner has gone out of her way to make things easy and comfortable for the guests. We only wish we could have stayed twice as long.Recommended for: People with disabilities, families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for taking the time to post your comment. Happy to hear that you so thoroughly enjoyed the cabin. It's hoped that guests will feel right at home as soon as they arrive.

This is the fourth time that we have stayed at the Manchester Cabin and it just contines to feel more and more like home. I love the area as you can do as much or as little as you want to and either way, you have a great time. The cabin itself is so inviting that some days it is hard to leave! This visit we travelled to Asheville and spent the day at Biltmore which was wonderful. The best part for us is that we get to bring our pets (dogs and cat this time). The built in kennels and fenced in backyard are wonderful. I would recommend this to anyone as the location is great, price is reasonable and the cabin is extremely welcoming!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: It's always a pleasure to welcome you back to the cabin. Biltmore is a fabulous place to visit for the day. The drive is about 1 hour and 15 min. from the cabin.

About the owner: The 'Boys' and I enjoy walks and play time, both at the cabin and at home. Daily walks help me to appreciate nature with new eyes every morning. I'm a former teacher and college professor and currently do training and customer support for a software company.
Why the Owner Chose Lake Lure:
Although only a two hour drive from Columbia, SC, the Lake Lure area is a world away from the city. The scenic vistas inspire and soothe the soul. The area offers a variety of activities. My personal favorite is walking with the dogs in the morning from the cabin to Amy's Ridge to marvel at the view.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
The cabin is in a private setting on over an acre on a gated road, yet it is convenient to the huge grocery store, restaurants, and the area attractions. Being in a gated community, guests have access to a private lake with swimming beach and a scenic picnic area along the river. The town of Lake Lure with a large town beach is only a 15 min. drive.
