"We're on our last full day here and we're all dreading going home tomorrow. This place is gorgeous, homey, the views are AMAZING and there's tons to do even if you never leave the house. It's our first time in the Keys, and it's easy to see why so many people come to visit and end up living here. We will definitely be back, and will probably book this house again. It's perfect for our dog--there's a nice dog run with plenty of shade and grass. Our pup is kind of skittish about using the bathroom anywhere but home, but here, even she felt instantly at home. Don't worry, we clean up after her!
The kids have had a blast fishing from the dock, swimming in the bay, chilling in the hot tub, and watching Netflix from the hammock. The loft upstairs is incredibly comfortable, I just wouldn't recommend it for very young children (under five) or non-sprightly older folks because the only way up and down is by a ladder. Both bedrooms on the main level are also incredibly comfortable, nice mattresses and top-notch linens and pillows. I mean, seriously, do I have to go home? :)
Some nearby things I can highly recommend are taking the extended (4 hour) snorkeling tour out of Pennekamp State Park. You can take yourself out on a rental boat, but at $40pp, it's well worth it. We hit three reefs including the Christ statue, and it was just outstanding and relaxing! No worries about navigation in unfamiliar water.
A MUST DO is head down to Islamorada Fish Co for a sunset dinner. Food, service, and setting are all incredible, and the kids will enjoy watching the feeding of the tarpon from the bridge at dusk. Great sunsets, at mm 82. Also put Harriette's on your food list. Make sure you go hungry! And bring some key lime muffins back to the house! Mrs. Mac's kitchen was also great dining. Not a great setting in the median, but the food was fresh and delish.
The burners on the stove are not very consistent, so if you use the stovetop, the grill side is more even heat. A new AC unit is going in right now. The house was comfortable overnight and in the morning, but once the afternoon sun hits the living room, it was a steamy 88 degrees. But Diane is awesome, so the new unit is going in today for the rest of you to enjoy this summer! Enjoy my future home, other visitors! :) One last note, there is NO icemaker, so pick up a big bag at Publix."
