Welcome to Wisconsin
Welcome to Twin Lakes, a small Wisconsin town located close to the border with Illinois in Kenosha County. Though it has had a long history as one of the home sites of the Native Americans, it wasn't incorporated until as relatively recently as 1937. It's long been a vacation hotspot for those looking to get away from the big city, drawn by the twin lakes of Elizabeth and Mary and myriad adventure activities on offer. This includes the Wilmot Mountain and all of its skiable acres and snowy trails. If you love the outdoors, you'll never be bored in Twin Lakes.
Aquanuts and orchards
While it can be tempting to spend your days on the golf courses or hiking the local trails, the town is full of interesting attractions. For decades now, the Aquanuts have performed a spectacular display of water acrobats to families. Head down to Lance Park on show days during the summer to watch. The town is also known for its orchards, and you can take the while family down in harvest season to pick your own ripe produce. Book a Twin Lakes vacation rental early if you want to visit the Country Thunder Music Festival in July.
There's always something to do
Wisconsin's climate can be a little unpredictable, but don't let this stop you visiting Twin Lakes any time of year as there's always something to do come rain or shine. Spring can be wonderfully warm and sunny, and with less crowds to contend with you may have the gold course or hiking trails all to yourself. The summer months can be hot, and is the busiest time for Twin Lakes vacation rentals. The Wisconsin golden foliage is famous during fall and the winter months are below freezing, but wrap up warm and enjoy the skiing.
A 1,200-acre wildlife haven to explore
For nature lovers, there's nothing better than spending a day at the New Munster Wildlife Area, a 1,200-acre park just a short drive from Twin Lakes vacation rentals. Established more than 70 years ago, the park works to protect a habitat for upland game and pheasants. Lying along the banks of the Fox River, it lets you check out many other species in the lowland woodland, grasslands and wetlands that make up much of the park. Crossing the northwest of the park is Palmer Creek, a kayaking hotspot and Class III trout stream used by anglers.
