Why Darryl chose Playa del Carmen
My mother built this house in 1993 and lived there for about 7 years before returning to the states to be closer to her grandchildren. The home has stayed within the family and been a vacation property ever since.

No good, do not book
We were excited to go to Playa for a birthday celebration but our rental situation was not good at all. First of all, although we booked weeks in advance, when we got to the property they were not expecting us which cause some confusion and trouble when trying to get into the property. Once we finally got into the place, the housekeeper had time off that week so only was available for half of the time.
Additionally, once we were in the property you can tell the owner had not spent much money making the place nice or comfortable. The beds were hard as rocks, the internet didn't work and the kitchen supplies were old and limited. I also hated the fact he didn't accept electronic payments as I had to pay with checks and cash which is inconvenient.
After our trip I reached out to the owner explaining the issues and he offered be 1/2 off my next rental, but I told him I had no plans to come back to Playa anytime soon and asked him to refund part of my money...unfortunately he never responded to my request. In the end, if I came back to Playa, I would for sure not rent from this owner again.
Needless to say, I was very shocked when this negative review came thru because this guest never communicated any of these issues to me. If you look at all of the reviews we have received over years, I think they reflect the true experience of our guests. To respond to the guests points or comments: access to the casa - all guests receive a brochure on the house prior to visit which includes the combination to Master brand key safe bolted to the wall located directly beside entrance for guests that arrive after hours. We have never had a guest unable to put in the 4 digit code to operate the key safe - it's not very complicated. Rosa who comes in daily to cook and clean wasn't able to arrive at the Casa the first day of guests visit. I emailed the guests to let them know that Rosa was not there that day due to having to take her husband to the hospital in Cancun the night before due to an unexpected medical issue. I always pro-actively communicate any potential issue to guests as was the case here. She was at the house for the remainder of guest visit. Relative to other comments, guests never communicated any of these comments to me because they simply are not true. Rosa comes in daily to keep the casa spotless whether we have guests or not. Internet is always up and running - never an issue as long as you put in the password - again in the brochure (and posted in the house) sent to guests prior to visit. I replace all mattresses on a rotating schedule once every three years with the master (Serta brand) being replaced in 2017. Mattresses may be firmer that what guests prefer or have at home but certainly not "hard as a rock". We constantly maintain and upgrade our property such as replacing all sliding glass doors in 2017. All kitchen utensils are replaced on a regular basis including silverware, plates and Tervis Tumblers that are replaced when they "fog-up". As far as not accepting electronic payment, we have been accepting PayPal on the VRBO site for many years. I do accept checks for guests that prefer it but don't accept cash thru the mail. Our preferred method of payment is PayPal. Again, I think all of our other reviews speak to the true experiences of our guests.
Clean & near the beach
Great time. Very nice place. Taxis easily available @ Fishermen Village. Went to Reef Club for a day. Good time. $53/person. Plan on walking a lot. Took ferry to Cozumel for a day trip. $15/person RT. Went to Playa del Corona. Great place to get away from cruise crowd. Very relaxing. Bring snorkel gear. Good food and drinks @ reasonable prices.
Rosa is awsome. There to help with anything. Suggest going to grocery store 1st day to get food and drinks. She makes Great guacamole & enchiladas. Morning is French toast fresh OJ if you buy oranges. Darryl is very easy to work with. Thanks for a great family vacation. 😎😎😎
Better than the pictures indicate!
This wonderfully located home was a pleasant surprise when we arrived. Through the secure gates into the nice neighborhood adjacent to the ocean, the location could not be more ideal. and you can still walk to town via the beach or roadway if desired. Rosa was a big plus, always ready to prepare something tasty.
make a list with Rosa on day 1 and take Rosa to the grocery store with you. Her smiling face and warm welcome plus her excellent cooking skills made this vacation a real treat.
Perfect Vacation Home!
I loved the idea of having a beach house vacation, I did not love the idea of cooking and cleaning for our family of 7 while I was trying to relax. Casa Price was the perfect solution! Having Rosa make our beakfast and lunch and handle the cleanup afterwards was priceless! I tried to help her a couple of times and she told me, "no, you're on vacation". We also liked the floor plan of the home. Two bedrooms and a bathroom at the entry level and the master and another restroom upstairs. We felt safe with our children sleeping downstairs and having our own floor gave us some privacy. The only "issue" we had, it can be a little difficult to explain to cab drivers and delivery drivers where to go. There are no street addresses so we found that telling people we were next to Fisherman's Village was the easiest. Overall we loved our stay and would highly recommend Casa Price!
We enjoyed staying at Casa Price. The location was excellent since it was really close to the 5th Ave and to the beach, but without all the people and parties around. The house was comfortable for us since everyone had his own room (we are a family with two teenagers). However, we could never sleep in because the rooms don't have black out, and the curtains they have are thin white cloth and all the light woke us up. Also, since you sleep with the windows open all the noise from the street, the neighbors and the gardeners doing their job, does not let you sleep until late. The shower upstairs did not have the same pressure as the one downstairs, but we managed. In overall it was a good property... It is a plus that Rosa cleans after you. If you like to sleep in in your vacations, this is not the place! If you don't mind, we recommend it.
We loved our time in Playa and staying at Casa Price was a big part of that. The location and having Rosa to cook and clean were wonderful! During our stay the home's water pump went out and we were worried but Darryl went out of his way to get it fixed extremely fast.
Located in a gated and secure neighborhood. Guards on duty 24/7. House is within a 15 minute walk to the 5th Avenue shops and restaurants. The beach is right across the street.
