This is a two story 1923 craftsman home that has been well preserved. You will find a lot of the original features of the house still remain. We have added many unique antiques to match the time period. The upstairs is arranged to be well suited for children with a secret little playroom. The river view is beautiful with a nice breeze. Our stretch of the river is 2 miles down river from the popular tubing outfitters so it remains peaceful and quiet year round with the occasional kayaker, turtle, or hawk passing by.
We are right in the heart of Martindale, just a few blocks from the very quaint downtown. There is a burger and BBQ restaurant around the corner. There is an awesome taco stand a short drive or walk away. There is also a park with playscape and shallow river access ( great for young kids) about 3/4 mile down the road. The house is a 10 to 15 minute drive to San Marcos and Lockhart, 35 miles from Austin, and 55 from San Antonio. We live a few houses down and value your privacy, but can also be available to answer questions and insure you have a wonderful stay. Just give us a call.

It was an awesome spring break at the river, better than we expect. Nice environment and fully equipped property. A/C, comfortable beds, clean, good access and great facilities.
Lovely, well appointed historic home with plenty of room for two families with kids to enjoy
Our two families, four adults and four elementary aged kids, felt right at home. The kids went fishing off the dock, we made a fire out back in the fire pit, the stars were amazing. The house had everything we needed to cook, relax and stay cozy. There were board games, movies and toys for the kids, and even toys and kids books. We loved the separate upstairs rooms for the kids and downstairs rooms for the grownups. The house was beautifully restored and decorated and kept its historic charms while being completely modern and comfortable.
Cozy and Welcoming
Some interesting antiques give this home-away-from-home an authentic, comfortable vibe. The house and surroundings are as described. The beds were comfortable and the owners are great. Stopped by to see if we needed anything, but gave us our space. We will definitely go back! If you have children, there is an awesome Children's Park less than 10minutes away that is definitely worth the trip... all wooden with a dragon, rocket ship, troll bridge, etc. Great for busy imaginations!
Charming house, with beautiful antiques. We fell in love with the place.
Great place! Very well kept home. The owners thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. Enjoyed the fire pit by the river and the beautiful antiques.
A perfect family vacation
We rented this home to have an early Christmas gathering for our children and grandchildren. It was an extremely comfortable setting for 10 people. The kitchen was entirely adequate. We were all able to sit together at the dining room table for dinners. The Gazebo next to the river allowed us to barbecue and hang out. Many of us kayaking on the river. Lots of parking. Even though this is a old hundred-year-old home the bedrooms are quite spacious. Located about 5 miles outside of downtown San Marcos it was perfect for our family. Some of us coming from out of state to visit the other people who work in San Marcos. It was a nice little getaway for everyone and still close enough to enjoy the town. As we sat around the river yesterday just relaxing everyone said they'd like to make this their staple for our Christmas time together. We can only imagine how wonderful it must be in the summer. The owners were very available to me before and during the rental for anything I had or any questions. We will definitely be back thank you very much
Great family gathering spot
This Home was perfect for our multiple family gathering. The up stairs bedrooms, loft (with DVD/tv), playroom and bath worked great for the family with young children to set up base. And the 2 downstairs bedrooms were spacious and just what the other couples needed. Thank you for having all full sized beds or larger.
We loved the big dining table that got all of us around it for Thanksgiving dinner. Outside, Papa fished with the kids, we roasted marshmallows, and enjoyed the fire pit (don’t forget to get wood). The river was tranquil and the sunsets beautiful. We loved being in the country, but we were also a short drive to shopping. Big screen TV was great for those who needed a football game fix.
The neighbor’s cat, was pesky but added something for us to laugh about and remember. Patricia was responsive to our last minute request for a pie plate to make the pumpkin pie!
Hope to come back when we can float the river.
