We’ve rented this cute little cottage before! And we always love to come back. This visit was exceptionally good. I felt like I was in the middle of a Hallmark movie with the fall colors and leaves and the festival in Alden.
We invited friends to a spur of the moment we can get away in Alden on torch lake. We were happy to find such a cute little cottage right in the center of town on short notice. The cottage was in a great location. It was plenty of room for two couples, I would definitely visit again!
Overall, we had a great weekend in Alden MI! The cottage was just perfect for the holiday weekend. The property is just as shown in the listing and pictures don’t do it justice. The cottage was adorable, clean, and comfortable. Checkin was easy with picking up the keys from the rental company down the street. We will definitely be back!

Erika,
Glad you enjoyed your stay. Please call us for future stays. This is a great area to relax and unwind.
This is the second year we have stayed at the Alden cottage and we love it. It’s adorable, clean, nice backyard, and offers something for everyone. Our little kids love walking to get ice cream, our teenager loves walking to the shops, and I loved walking to get coffee and muffins. It’s a great location for enjoying Torch lake, charlevoix, and elk rapids. We even made trips to glen Arbor and Mackinac. The responses were quick and minor issues resolved quickly. Can’t recommend this place enough!
I’ve been vacationing in this area my entire life and have family that lives in Bellaire. This cottage was adorable and clean, stocked with almost everything needed for a vacation. The decor was so cute and eclectic, the backyard was great for my little kids to play in, and we loved walking to get ice cream in town every night. The road the cottage is on can be busy and the cars sometimes drive fast, so I worried with my little kids. That is no fault of the cottage or owners. We loved our stay here!
The cottage is cute and clean and kitchen is well stocked. Mattresses are very old, killed our backs. The house is noisy from inside due to very a loud well pump and a heater next to the bedroom and from outside with construction trucks rumbling nearby starting at 7 am. The towels were hidden, like they were not included (?) BTW: The lake is pleasant to the eyes, but swimmers’ itch rash turned to be brutal. The ladies at the Mill house store were really nice and provided healing remedies. They told us that the rule is not to swim in Alden in July due to swimmers itch, other colder places were safe. It would be nice to know this ahead of time.
This is a wonderful little house. Two full bedrooms. A pull out sofa in the living room. Kitchen was fully stocked. Within walking distance of downtown Alden and the Alden Harbor. It would be great if it had a washer/dryer since there were only 2 bath towels provided but since we were just there a week we managed. Probably my only criticism would be the claw foot tub. If you have anyone in your group that isn’t agile and steady on their feet this tub/shower is an accident waiting to happen. The tub side is quiet high, there is nothing to hang onto to get in or out and the circular shower rod/curtain that hangs above the tub poses a challenge for keeping the water in the tub and not on the floor during a shower. We really did enjoy our stay though and would probably stay here again.
The Alden Cottage was wonderful. Very nicely decorated and over all very clean. Loved sitting on either the back deck or front porch watching life go by! Our neighbor was very friendly and spent several nights regaling us with stories of Alden. Close to our property on Torch and Charlevoix and Traverse City was a nice drive. Overall- a great place to stay!
My mom and I spent 4 days celebrating our birthday up north and this cottage was just perfect for us. It's a comfortable and clean cottage in a location close to many fun things to do.
We just got home from our long weekend trip and the cottage was so cozy, beautifully decorated and so many thoughtful things available for guests to use! We would highly recommend to anyone looking to stay near Torch Lake. You are literally right on the corner of the Main Street in town and can walk to shops, the lake and restaurants. Excellent stay!
My husband and I spent a week in this lovely cottage to enjoy Torch Lake and some other outdoor activities Upper Michigan had to offer. The property managers are walking distance from the property and they went over our check in and out instructions in person, and best yet, allowed our beloved dog Trooper to stay (for a small but totally worth it pet desposit) not only in the cottage, but in the office to meet them! The cottage is more than adequate for just the 2 (3) of us. Note to some: due to the cottage being older (yet updated with all necessary amenities) there is only 1 window AC unit for the whole house, however there are ceiling fans in the bedrooms and 2 smaller fans provided for guest use. We were more than comfortable, but it is a consideration if you plan on having the max number of guests. We loved the small shops in Alden that we could walk to, especially the Alden Mill! It was also a wonderful asset to have the Alden dock at the end of the street as we did rent a boat during our stay. There is even multiple benches to sit at the dock to take in the stunning sunsets. We would love to stay at this property again!
The Alden Cottage exceeded our expectations, based on the photos on VRBO. It served as a great home base for our family of 5. The “steps to Torch Lake” is about 2 blocks.
Pictures don't do it justice! Home is much more spacious than we what we were expecting. Wonderful accomodations for our family of 4. Perfect location in a great little town.
Hope to return.
We checked in on a Friday afternoon, and had a nice, relaxing long weekend. The house was very nice and comfortable. My only complaint about the set up is the lack of any sidewalks, but I do understand that this is a very small town. We look forward to coming back in the summer.
Nice, cozy cabin. Was more than enough for me, my wife and 18 month old. If you had 6 adults it might be a bit too small, but you could make it work. The only reason I gave it a 4 star is because of the town it was in. Alden is a nice, SMALL town. Not much there so we spent most of our time in nearby towns. If we were to go back to the area we would stay in a different town
