Extra-large gingerbread cottage in historic Campgrounds in Oak Bluffs, sleeps nine. Located on a double lot in the heart of the Martha's Vineyard Camp Meeting Association in Oak Bluffs, this extra-large cottage has five bedrooms and sleeps nine comfortably. The cottage has two full baths, one (completely renovated in 2015) with a cast iron tub and one with a brand new tiled shower (to be completed in May 2017). A completely private outdoor shower made from cedar and accessible by a raised walkway from the back door of the house is the perfect place to clean off after the beach or simply to enjoy the fresh air with the morning shower. Set back from a wide quiet street, the house is a five minute walk from Oak Bluffs downtown and harbor. The covered wraparound front porch is the perfect place to enjoy the morning coffee or dinner on a summer evening. The porch boasts a classic porch swing, wicker rocking chairs and a teak table and chairs set. The extra-large lot means the house offers considerably more privacy than many Campgrounds cottages. There are two reserved parking spots behind the house.
In addition to the two full baths, the first floor has a back hall with a washer and dryer, a full kitchen with a gas range, a dining room and a large living room. The upstairs has five bedrooms (two are walk-throughs) with one queen bed, one full bed, three twins and one set of bunk beds. The master bedroom is in the front of the house and has a large set of French doors leading to the balcony over the front porch.
The house, originally built in the 1860s, has been in the same family for over fifty years, and has been lovingly maintained. The current project is a complete renovation of the second bathroom (to be completed the first week in May), with a new tile floor and a retiled shower.
