About Michael Huffer or J. Cristini
Long time Florida resident, I moved back to Lee County to fulfill my dream of owning a home on Pine Island! Mission accomplished and we could not be happier. This year a nearby property became available and we purchased it and performed an energetic renovation so that others might embrace the island life. The home was named Anchor Cottage to recognize the large boating and fishing community we enjoy!
Michael Huffer or J. Cristini purchased this House in 2017
Why Michael Huffer or J. Cristini chose Pine Island Center
It is on the canal and has a lovely private dock on the end of the waterway. Palm trees, flowers, and a screened pool with lanai in the gorgeous Charlotte Shores community home was too great to pass up.
What makes this House unique
Large open plan created with the kitchen centerpiece with a beachy cottage atmosphere which is helped a bit by the artistic (wouldn't be wrong if you guessed a dolphin 🐬 ) motif that we introduced! Split bedroom plan is a major plus. Discover Anchor Cottage, where a stay is also the promise to discover Florida in its most authentic side, through various activities: fishing, biking, swimming, exploring Indian ruins, enjoying boat excursions to nearby Cabbage Key, USEPPA , or Captiva. Enjoy discovering the local cuisine and its seafood influence, relaxing at a nearby spa and hiking within one of our wildlife and birding nature trails. Live music features most nights someplace on the island. We wish your stay at one of the last original fishing barrier islands to be unforgettable in every way, regardless of the reasons why you choose to visit Bokeelia on Pine Island. Discover Anchor Cottage, your home away in Florida. A perfect vacation spot for calm and relaxation!

Little Oasis of Relaxation
Upon arrival the home felt so warm, welcoming and good smelling. Throughout my 5 week stay there 3 different combinations of family members at separate times and every one thoroughly enjoyed the time at the Anchor House.
You feel like you have a ‘little oasis’ all to yourself. The property is very private as there is no one on one side or across the canal. We never heard the neighbors next door and there are many trees and plants you don’t even know they are there.
We enjoyed an osprey that either sat on our light pole or on the pine tree across the canal. We had many species of wildlife; anahingas, great blue herons, ibis, egrets and mullet fish in the canal.
Pine Island in itself is unique. There is a 17 mile paved bike path or walking path from the south end to the north end. The Calusa Heritage Center is fantastic. There are many preserves you can hike. There is the neat Pine Island Garden Club Park, tennis courts, museum, library, the hiking preserve right in Pine Island Center. Good places to eat. Matlacha is another fun area to explore.
All in all, it was most enjoyable. It was sad to have to leave this fantastic vacation home.
This cottage was an awesome place to spend our family vacation. We felt really at home in this cottage. It was very spacious, very clean and had all of the amenities you could ever think of. The owners were very nice and accommodating. Our kids enjoyed the pool and the kayaks and most of all the fishing. We also enjoyed the island life from visiting all of the local shops and art galleries in Matlacha, to some good food and drinks at the local restaurants in Matlacha, St. James City and Bokeelia. We will definitely be back.
The perfect getaway!!! The house is perfect; the location is perfect; the hosts - perfect. Our second trip to Anchor Cottage in 4 months, with hopefully many more to come. Close to everything yet, far enough away to not be bothered by the touristy 'vibe' of other vacation spots.
Great amenities and the kayaks are a must! You could spend hours traveling on the water. Two kids and the TV did not go on once!
If you want to de-stress and relax. Anchor Cottage is the place to be.

Loved it so much we are coming back over the summer.
Literally home away from home for us. We have 2 kids and 2 small dogs and it was perfect. Backyard is fenced in, very quiet, backing to the canal where you can hear the fish and see some manatees (our first). Cozy open floor plan and everyone has their own space which with a 10 and a 12 yr olds are a point that was often brought up in the past. All amenities and best part for the kids - pool and the ping pong table 🙂. Don’t have to go anywhere for days if you don’t want to. There is a CVS, Winn Dixie and gas station on the island as well as a small pizza place (Pine Island Pizza) that we liked. We usually go to the beach twice when we go to Florida (FMB is about 30 min. away) therefore this is perfect for us. Rode bikes, walked with dogs. Found a fishing pier at the end of Bokeelia where we were told to come see the sunset (next visit). So many things to do but didn’t have enough time. - I could just go on... Perfect area if you do not mind being “away” from it all. That is my definition of a vacation .
Near mile marker ten on Stringfellow toward Bokeelia. Take a right on Linden Street and first left. Saint Marie is the next right.
