Elegance and high quality with breezy sea views

Our apartment is on the third floor - three flights of original marble stairs - of a grand and elegant 19th century building near the beautiful Galata Tower. The street is sophisticated, with smart cafes, top Turkish fashion design boutiques and a cool bohemian feel.

The apartment is only 1 minute walk from Sishane metro station, 3 minutes walk to Tünel funicular and a short downhill walk to connect with the tram for Sultanahmet. Famous Istiklal Avenue is around 5 minutes walk up the hill.

The bedrooms are stylish: two doubles and one twin, each with designer velvet headboards and high quality crisp white linens. Two of the bedrooms have fabulous views. The kitchen is large, chic and well-equipped with high-end appliances including dish-washer. The dining area has a lovely ceramic tiled floor and leads to the airy hall. The living room is stylish and comfortable with two feather-filled sofas and a bar table area leading to bay windows with fabulous panoramic views across the Bosphorus and Golden Horn. The spacious hall has a smart shower room at one end and a separate loo at the other. Original wooden floorboards give a warm feel and all doors and windows are also elegant originals, adding grace.

This apartment is 130 m2 in total, serene and restful. It's flooded with sunlight through its large sash windows and has very high ceilings throughout. The bedrooms comfortably accommodate six people.

The view was amazing!

The most beautiful stay in Istanbul, the view was amazing. Very nice surrounding area, only takes a few minutes to walk to places such as Istiklal street that has many shops and restaurants and Galata tower, plus the internet is very fast. Amazing hosts, Tarkan and Julia, we will definitely book it again.

Worth staying here just for the view!

We had a great time staying here! The apartment was very clean and well-equipped. We loved the location close to many restaurants and sights we wanted to visit, and it was also well-connected to public transport. Worth staying here just for the view over the water each morning! Our main point of contact was Julieta, who has been very kind and helpful during our check-in.

Lovely to look out over the Bosphorus!

Family of 4 had 5 comfortable nights in the apartment. Lovely to look out over the Bosphorus at different times of the day - sunrise over the mosque on the hill & in the evenings the moon rising above the city. Walking distance to tram/metro, tho we tended to walk to most of what we wanted to see; apt is well located. 2 travel IstanbulKarts left by previous guests'. Note that one card can be used for up to 4 people. The area has hidden gems - independent shops & family run restaurants. Around the tower lots of tourists - we avoided. Cafe Privato(hosts recommendation) for breakfast & dinner & they kindly held our luggage as we had an early evening flight & weren't able to keep our bags at the apartment. Comfy lounge space & we all slept well. Visited early Sept & didn't need to use the aircon. Kitchen adequately supplied, although a few extra condiments like olive oil, pepper, wouldn't go amiss :-). Hosts were very responsive when we had questions. Highly recommend Julias place.

Breathtaking views!

Just arrived home from a wonderful stay at Julia’s home in Galata, Istanbul. The apartment was clean, well kept and as described, the kitchen was well equipped and unusually (in my experience) they provided enough dishwasher tablets and washing powder for the stay. The outstanding feature of this apartment was the view - breathtaking and worth the 3 flights of stairs to get there. The area is really busy and vibrant with shops, bars and restaurants, but the apartment was quiet, even on a busy summer Saturday night. Highly recommend the airport transfers, which was a godsend for a tired family in a new, very hot country. Communication was great, though we had no cause to contact the hosts during our stay as everything was as expected, just a great holiday - would stay again.

Really excellent location, beautiful and spacious apartment

Really excellent location, beautiful and spacious apartment and very nice manager and host who helped us even get our bags up the 3 flights of stairs to the apartment. The apartment had everything you'd want plus a very helpful guestbook with comments and tips from previous guests. The host even had istanbulkart cards for us to use for travel around Istanbul. We really enjoyed the nice restaurants near the Galata tower and walking up and down the alleys at night and all of the hustle and bustle. There is a very nice cat museum right across the apartment.

Wunderschöne Wohnung in zentralerl Lage

Großartig. Die Wohnung ist so schön wie auf den Bildern. Die Aussicht auf dem Bosporus ist fantastisch. Drei Zimmer haben vollen Blick auf das Meer und auf die Hagia Sophia. Die Wohnung ist außerordentlich sauber. Extrem zentrale Lage.

Best Location

Thank you for the latest updates on the community, the holidays as well as transportation, the metro etc. It allowed us to move around Istanbul with ease. The owners and Taskin were always responsive to our questions regardless of the time of day. Thank you for the recommendation to visit Sensus, the self guided wine tasting room behind the Galita Tower! We hope you enjoy the Suveg Cellars wine!

The location is really excellent

We had a very enjoyable stay at this place. The location is really excellent, everything important is within walking distance. The price-performance ratio is top! We felt very comfortable. The beds were very good and we slept wonderfully. The cleanliness was also excellent, everything was very well maintained. Communication and check-in/out went very smoothly. We've been busy, building up a collection of lovely historical apartments in Galata, our favourite part of Istanbul. We've personally renovated most of them and stay in them ourselves whenever we can. Recently we've added a sweet flat in the UK's Cotswolds into the mix.

20 years ago we met in Istanbul, Tarkan's home city, while I was there for a photography assignment. Since then we've led international lives together, based in Istanbul, Singapore and now England, my original country.

Along the way we've raised our son, Eren, across the cultures as we've steadily grown this holiday apartment project, our second baby. We see it as a way to find balance in our family life and to always have a home in our best-loved city.

We understand from our own experiences, what makes a great city-break stay and we try our very hardest to deliver it to you in Istanbul. For this we've won i-escape's global Guest Award for 'Best City Apartment' two years running and Tripadvisor's Certificate of Excellence each year from from 2016 to 2021 (2022 isn’t announced yet!)

We’re also listed in many guidebooks.

Your questions and booking will be handled by us. On your arrival our manager Taskin and friendly team with their natural Turkish hospitality, will welcome you to your apartment, pass over your keys and explain practicalities and the neighborhood. You'll have as much or as little help as you choose and we're sure you'll soon feel at home in the cosmopolitan and very welcoming local community.

By self-catering right in the local community you’ll quickly become part of it, financially supporting small grocery shops and other family businesses. You’ll soon make relationships with these friendly people and develop a genuine understanding of the culture around you. We’re sure you’ll leave with special memories and more developed perspectives as a result of your encounters.

For each confirmed booking we arrange a tree to be planted in Turkey (via TEMA) to offset part of the carbon dioxide emission from the resulting flight. We encourage you to plant more trees: easily arranged during online booking.

We use local maintenance and cleaning services for the apartments and in this way we provide a good income for 2 families who lives nearby.
We do everything we can to preserve all the original features and materials in the apartments. Where new materials are needed we source them locally, prioritising products that are designed and/or made in Turkey.

Our apartments are uniquely situated amongst mosques, churches, synagogues, a mevlevi ‘whirling dervish’ hall and other sites of religious significance. We encourage guests to sense the history of religious tolerance and hopefully! to experience something of it themselves during their stay.
