A great getaway experience made special by the staff.
We enjoy the never ending experiences that Gold Oak Farm provides. This includes the wonderful nature that visits the site and the efforts that Tom and his team make to encourage wildlife.

Faultless and fabulous
The setting is beautiful and the lodges have everything you could need. Freshly baked bread and cake on arrival was a lovely touch. Waking up to birdsong was great as was chilling in the hot tub. The lack of WiFi was great. Lovely selection of games and books to borrow. Attentive staff if needed.

Perfect in every way.
The lodges are fabulous, have literally everything you need including an ice bucket! The cake and bread excellent, the breakfast pack brilliant value and top quality produce. Just so peaceful and tranquil and provided us with the relaxation and recuperation we were looking for. Literally sat for hours in the hot tub enjoying the scenery and then happy snuggling up in front of the log burner with a book. All the local pub recommendations were top notch too.

Really beautiful place, we had such a lovely relaxing time.
Beautiful environment and setting, both within the lodge and the grounds outside. Lovely view of the lake and birds. Spacious, loved the high ceiling and outside deck. Enjoyed the hot tub and log burner. Really well equipped. Quiet, easy parking, great customer service.

About the host

Gold Oak Farm has been owned by the Butler family for around 100 years now. In the old days it was a small fixed farm with all the work done with horses and manual labour.

The first tractor arrived on the farm in about 1950. Around that time the family started selling fresh milk door to door around the local villages. In 1986 the farm changed and became more people focused, the dairy buildings were converted into stables and the close fields are used for horses to graze on. The existing ponds were added and extended to form the basis of the day ticket coarse fishery. In 2008 the decision was taken to apply for planning permission to build luxury holiday log cabins around the lakes.

Construction of 4 Lodges started 2010 with our first guests visiting us in September 2011. We now have 10 spaced out luxury Lodges with a huge emphasis on rest and relaxation. We are very laid back hosts and will go out of our way to help you chill out. We continue to be and always will be a family business.
