Welcome to Low Dog Lodge...LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!! You will not find a better ski-in ski-out location in Big Sky. Walk out the door, strap on your skis and go ski directly to the Thunderwolf High speed Quad. Low Dog Lodge is a Log Home with four bedrooms, a loft, and three full baths. This home has a warm and rustic Montana decor. It is located at the end of a cul-de-sac with lots of privacy and great views of Beehive Basin and Spanish Peaks. It is one of the 'true' Ski In / Ski Out homes in Big Sky. You can walk to the lodge at the base of Big Sky Resort with its restaurants, bars, shops and ski/board rentals. You won't find a better location in Big Sky during the summer or winter. The home is very private so you won't have any problems feeling like your in the middle of the wilderness, yet close to everything..
We have just updated the home to include 3 king guest bedrooms (one with private bath), 1 queen guest bedroom, and 1 bunk room that has two sets of log bunk beds that are extra long to easily accommodate adults. There is also an open loft on the third floor that has a queen sofa bed and a large big screen TV. Let the kids watch the big screen TV in the loft using DirecTV or DVD's or they can play some of the board games we have available. There is also an additional TV and DVD player in the comfortable great room on the main level. For a little romance or warmth, load up the large Montana Mossy rock fireplace in the great room. We are happy to supply logs, because the experience just isn't the same until you get to sit by the fire and talk about the wonderful adventures of the day.
The kitchen features a new double range/oven, dishwasher, microwave and refrigerator. The kitchen counter tops are granite and the island bar has seating for four, so you can accommodate even more guests for dinner, or sip on a drink and supervise the cooks in the kitchen before dinner. The large dining room table seats 8 guests and can be extended to seat 10 or more.
After a hard day on the slopes, or a summer afternoon of hiking, river rafting or golf, come back and relax in your own private hot tub that seats 6-8 people comfortably. Located on the ground floor, it has a great view of the valley with no homes in sight.
We've built a new heated entry and ski room on the ground floor. It offers a convenient place to store all your gear and suit up every day before stepping outside. We think you'll find it a great addition to home.
In addition to skiing and snow boarding, just head outside to find for some of the best hiking and snow shoeing in Big Sky. You're also only a short drive to some of the best golf and fishing that Montana has to offer. The kids (and adults) will love the great sledding just outside and we offer a couple of sleds in the garage so you can give it a try.

About Low Dog Lodge Reservations
We share a passion for travel that offers us the opportunity to ski & snowboard all over the world - USA, Japan, Europe, New Zealand, Chile, etc. We love Montana year-round, but think the world class skiing in Big Sky can't be beat! What started out as vacations to Montana in the 90's, turned into making Bozeman home for a few years, before finally deciding to buy a home of our own in Big Sky that we can share with family & friends. We take pride in our home and hope our guests enjoy it enough to come back again and again.
Low Dog Lodge Reservations purchased this House in 2012
Why Low Dog Lodge Reservations chose Big Sky Mountain Village
We selected this beautiful log home because of its great ski access, but also because it really has a great Montana feel. It's large enough to accommodate a big group, but cozy enough to really feel like a home. The location at the base of Andesite mountain on a private, dead-end road provides fantastic ski-in & ski-out access. It's only a short walk or drive to all the offerings at the mountain mall complex, but feels very secluded at the same time. Skiing in Big Sky is great since there are no lift lines to speak of and it has the largest acreage of ski-able terrain in the USA. Having a true ski-in/ski-out home is the only way to go with a large family or group that starts and stops their ski day at different times. Less than an hour's drive from either Bozeman or Yellowstone makes it the perfect location for either Summer or Winter activities. We love the home and hope you will too!
What makes this House unique
One of the few log homes on the mountain with great ski-in & ski-out access. Plenty of privacy, yet only a short walk to the restaurants & shopping in the Big Sky Mountain Village. Great views of Beehive Canyon off the large wrap-around deck or from the outdoor hot tub (great after a hard day of skiing!). In the summer, you'll be able to see plenty of animals including bears, moose, deer and elk right around the home and we have great hiking trails right out the front door.

Location could not be better
Low Dog Lodge
Low Dog Lodge is a beautiful home. We had ( 6 ) adults and 3 kids and were very comfortable in this cabin. The location is spot on and the ease of the ski in - ski out were key. We cooked in almost every night and found the accommodations of the kitchen to be top shelf. We would recommend Roxey's Market for your shopping it was larger and has a better variety at a better price. We would recommend LDL to anybody looking for a great place to stay.
Hello Alan - I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay with us. I hope we'll see you back next year! Best - Matt
Great weather and snow, but house not so much
This house was advertised as a great ski in/out place. However although good ski out it was not ski in at all. We had to walk down Low Dog Road to the house all five days we skied. One of our guys tried to ski along the side of the road and messed up his skis. This is false advertising, and we paid a premium for this house assuming it was something it wasn't.
Also, the house had a non functioning heating element on the stove, two windows in the master bedroom were broken and could not be opened, and the DVD player didn't work.
Another DVD player was provided, but without a remote.
All in all the house was a big disappointment. I have rented two previous homes at Big Sky so I know what is good value, and Low Dog Lodge was not. The other houses were genuine ski in/out, and cost substantially less. To be specific I believe Low Dog Lodge was worth maybe $6,000/week and we paid $7,800/week.
Stellar stay at Big Sky
The property is as advertised, spacious, well appointed, a real friendly feel. We enjoyed the jacuzzi after a long day's ski and dined at one of the many restaurants nearby. Snow was plentiful and we even saw some sunshine mid-week. All in all, a wonderful stay.
Hi Jim - I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed our home and had great snow! Look forward to welcoming you back again - Matt
Great house, great location
We really enjoyed our stay at Low Dog Lodge. It is a true ski in, ski out property, and comfortably handled 8 people.
Big Sky is a great place, and I hope to return soon!
We loved the access for skiing though it would be tough for beginners. Flat at bottom of access to the lift and would be tough coming back via the road if short on snow. Very comfortable and quiet with plenty of space. The only bummer was running out of firewood. We were told it would be two weeks to be restocked. Aside from that, we will definitely come again.
Summers offer as much fun as winter with fantastic fly fishing, river rafting, hiking, Yellowstone Park, bears, moose, deer and lots of wild animals (often in our yard).
