About this property

Character Cottage In Historic Hampstead

Located on a pretty square in the heart of Hampstead Village in northwest London., this two-bedroom cottage is bursting with character. It’s also just a seven-minute walk from Hampstead High Street, with its abundance of high-end shops and eateries, and also from Hampstead underground station, from where central London can be reached in less than 20 minutes.

Built more than two hundred years ago, this smoke-free property is arranged over three small floors - connected by a traditional cast iron spiral staircase - and can comfortably accommodate up to four people. On the top floor, there is a bedroom with a super king-size bed. The second bedroom, with two single beds, is on the second floor as is the bathroom which features a walk-in shower. The kitchen and living room area is located on the ground floor. The living room is equipped with a comfortable sofa and armchair, a dining table and a Smart TV. The kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances and includes all the cooking utensils that you could need to prepare breakfast or an evening meal.

The cottage has been owned by a family of antique dealers, artists and writers for a number of years, and has lots of interesting vintage pictures and ornaments collected by them that give it a very homely and unique feel. You will notice a number of objects and pictures related to the sea, as the family now live mainly by the sea in Cornwall in the far west of England!

To make the property feel like a home away from home, we offer complimentary WiFi and our complimentary range of luxury amenities:
- Fresh, high-quality linen and towels
- Eco-friendly luxury toiletries including shampoo, conditioner, soap, body wash, shower gel
- Tea and coffee

Hampstead, a beautiful historic area which is just a few tube stops away from central London, presents a delightful blend of old-world allure and contemporary vibrancy. The ‘village’, as it’s called, features quaint cafes and a wide choice of restaurants and shops, as well as an antique market. The whole area is steeped in history. Fenton House, a grand house and garden dating from the 1600s, stands opposite the property and is open to the public during the summer months. Flask Walk, adorned with antique stands and historic pubs, is often cited as one of the prettiest streets in London. The wide open spaces of Hampstead Heath, where you can enjoy panoramic views over London and swim in the outdoor pools all year round, is just a 10-minute walk away. Evening entertainment options include the Everyman Cinema on Heath Street and Hampstead Theatre in close-by Swiss Cottage.

Having lived in the area of many years, the family who own the property have few recommendations for places to eat and drink that are a short walk away from the house. In terms of pubs, the Holly Bush is a firm family favourite for Sunday lunch after a walk on the heath, while the Flask and the Wells Tavern also have excellent food. For outstanding authentic Japanese food there is Jin Kinchi on Heath Street, while Shabag Tandoori on Rosslyn Hill is the perfect destination for an Indian meal and cold beer and L’Antica creates exceptional pizzas using their wood burning oven. There is also a wonderful hidden gem (you have to walk down steps from the pavement to reach it!) called 28 Church Row which serves delicious tapas and wine. Hampstead is well-served with independent food shops such as Da Cheffone, an small authentic Italian delicatessen on Heath Street, where you can pick up delicious (and very large!) home-made paninis as well as a range of pastas and sauces. There are also two supermarkets within a 10 minute walk of the property.
