This is a fantastic cabin. Everything inside is gorgeous and the location is absolutely perfect. Very private and quiet and right on the river with great sounds and views. Very well furnished and makes you want to simply relax and do nothing......Simply the best cabin we have been to......

Best Cabin in the Woods Ever!!! Loved It

  • 5 of 5

No doubt that I would recommend this beautiful place. It is perfect for families and friends that truly want to leave the city behind. It is secluded and the privacy was wonderful. The cabin was just as described and was clean, beautifully furnished and welcoming. The owner was equally warm and welcoming. I highly recommend this property as it is everything the site says it is. We especially enjoyed our campfire by the river in the evenings. And just the sound of the water running in the early morning with our coffee was so calming. I can't say enough about how impressed we were and how much we enjoyed it. We are planning to make this a regular trip at least twice a year. If you stay here you will be so glad you did.

Family Fun with friends on the water!!

  • 5 of 5

As always we had a great time. We've stayed here 7 times in the last 6 years with family and friends. Sloane is great to work with and we love the water and peace. So close to where we live but seems hours away from anywhere. The cabin always is in good shape. We always go with 8 or 9 and have no issues at all with room. Look forward to going again next year.

Amazing river access

  • 3 of 5

Sloan, the owner, was great to work with.

The house is literally right on the river. The whole family fished from the backyard.

For tubing (house comes with tubes and pump), there is a gravel road through all the properties fronting the river, so you can easily walk upstream to put in, and then float back to or past the house. There is a setup with a mat and hook for a hose at the front door to wash off before coming in the house.

We used the creek side fire pit with adirondak chairs nightly.

The family enjoyed the hot tub.

We wish there were more than 4 chairs on the back porch, and any chairs on the master porch.

We did not see a fire pit on the back deck.

The house is attractive.

We wish there was more counter space in the kitchen and more than 4 chairs to use at the dining room table. We advised Sloane of the need to treat for black ants.

The master bath is spacious.

Sound carries between the master and the main bedroom below.

Overall the house was clean. It is probably due for a good deep cleaning now- baseboards, the grill, etc.

Definitely follow the directions Sloane emails you- the resort is large and it's easy to get lost. Be aware some of the roads are narrow, steep or twisty, and the last part of the drive to the house is on gravel.

We are glad we took Sloane's suggestion to get all our groceries/provisions on our way to the house.

We did not use any of the resort amenities (pool, stocked lake, putt putt), so cannot report on those. They appear to be about a 15 minute drive from the house.

The other posts cover the garbage process.

All the neighbors we met were friendly.

We had a great stay. Thanks, Sloane!

Nice setting, but.........

  • 2 of 5

I would cautiously approach the rental of this home. Go back and read the reviews that are actually posted. All of the complaints such as a dirty deck, nasty grill, and cobwebs and such in the home are still an issue. Dirty hot tub and the area surrounding it as well. There are not enough linens to accommodate 9 guests as stated and forget having meals together if you have that many guests as the table only seats 4. Come prepared to take your trash as previous reviews mention and be aware that the dump is quite a distance away, not easily located, marked by a tiny sign, and be aware of hours of operation. The owner was great to work with prior to our stay but it ends there. There was not preparation for us to enjoy the amenities of the resort as guest passes are required. The suggested solution from the owner was to rummage through the maids closet to search for new passes and then go to the office of the resort to pick up new ones. Keep in mind that getting around in this resort is a time consuming process. I highly recommend that you document all of the things that you find wrong and immediately call the owner and let her know and insist on having her maid come to correct the issues immediately. Otherwise, the owner will say that she has pictures from her maid that show you left the place a mess and will keep your deposit in addition to the cleaning fee. After 8 years of vacationing and staying in Home Away rentals this is the first time we've ever had any issue. This may be just a problem with this owner. My suggestion is to go just a bit further down the road and stay at one of the few resort communities in Jasper! The owners there are much better and the resorts are as well!

Owner's Response: In the 13 years of owning my home, I have never had my house left in such disarray as it was when you left. There was chocolate syrup sprayed all over the kitchen cabinets, cigarette butts and ashes along with empty beer cans left all over my deck around the hot tub. You left your trash in the house with bloody meat that leaked on the floor and made the house smell like death. My cleaning girl took pictures of all of this and unfortunately, I kept your $250 deposit because it took her more than 4 hours to clean up after you left. As far as the dining room table, it shows in my listing that it only seats 4 people. You could have seen that in the pictures before you rented the house. When I gave you access to the owners pantry, I have approximately 6 extra sheets of sheets that you could have used if you were short any linens along with 10 extra towels. As far as cobwebs, the house sits 20' from the river and is in the woods. My cleaning girl may not see every cobweb that comes up in the corners of the exterior of the house. I am one of the easiest people to work with on VRBO. I hated getting the news from my cleaning girl that you left my house in the condition it was in. You are the first person in 13 years that I kept their $250 deposit.

We went glamping!

  • 4 of 5

This is my idea of camping! Beautiful cabin; very peaceful and right on a lazy river. Great place to run away to for a few days. There were 9 of us and plenty of space; very clean; owners were very responsive and helpful. Favorite activity was enjoying my coffee while listening to the river and relaxing in the rocking chair.

One thing to consider - trash removal is not simple, so plan around it. You have to drive about 20 minutes to dispose of it. We made the mistake of waiting til the car was packed and ready to go. Had to make two trips which delayed us leaving about 1 1/2 hrs. Poor planning on our part.

Overall, a great place to stay. Would highly recommend.
