Aska and other trails lead to beautiful waterfalls, swinging bridges and fabulous mountain views. Infinite fishing opportunities await you at stocked and natural streams. Kayaking and tubing are offered on the close by Cartecay and Toccoa rivers, they also provide inexpensive shuttles and take you back to your car. More challenging whitewater rafting is close by. Enjoy biking? Get your mountain bikes ready and explore the trails or spend a day horse back riding.
The quaint little town of Ellijay is about 15 miles away. Downtown Ellijay offers an abundance of antique shops, art galleries, boutiques and fabulous restaurants. Streets buzz in October during the annual Apple Festival, a guests favorite! Most orchards are open year round and offer tours. Hayrides, putt-putt golf and petting zoos are most treasured by our younger guests. Special occasion around the corner? Summit Wedding Farm is just minutes away. The opportunities are endless!
The historic city of Blue Ridge is about 25 miles away from the cabin. There you can board an old fashioned train for an excursion along the Toccoa River. Blue Ridge is famous for its shopping, bars and restaurants. Or simply drive up the winding roads of Northwest GA - it is breathtaking! Everywhere you go you will be greeted by Southern hospitality and charm, many of the locals have a few stories to tell.

About the host
Hosted by Andrew and Suzanne Rice
Once upon a time…We always dreamed about owning some land in the mountains. Lots of acreage, and on the water.
The perfect opportunity presented itself in early 2008, and one day we were the proud owners of 8.5 acres with creek access and in dire need of a lot of work. And we loved it!
Fast forward to 2023, we were going for authentic and rustic, like a cabin is supposed to be, and according to the many 5 Star reviews, we did a decent job :).
From the porch to the patio with gas grill, the basketball court, the fenced yard, we have a little bit for everyone. Not even going to bore you with any details, yes, we have dining, a fridge, and a TV. You can see all this in the pictures.
What you cannot see, is how beautiful and stunning the property is - pictures don't do it justice! It is May, everything is in bloom right now, the grass is lush and green and the creek is rushing down after a good night's rainfall. Rumors have it that there might even be tiny gold nuggets in river "wink". This little section is a trout fisherman's dream. You won't have people treading on your territory while you are trying out your talents as a trout fisherman.
Local wildlife is just around the corner, and if you are one of the lucky ones, they will come and greet you. Individual walkways lead you in the right direction, and a couple of hand painted signs help you to a fabulous stay.
We have firewood in large piles for your fire pit or the wood burning fireplace inside. Everything is done to make you feel cozy and right at home. You are completely sheltered from the outside world. Having said that, Wi-Fi is there if you need it.
The lower field by the creek used to be a lama farm. The massive concrete pad had a building, and was used for entertaining guests. There is an old outhouse, and hearing it up got plenty of use. It still stands today.
Swing by the grocery store on your way to this secluded cabin, because you will not want to leave again while staying there.
Why they chose this property
If you feel like going on an expedition, there is so much to do!
Day trips to Ellijay and Blue Ridge to savor food trucks, restaurants and to take in all the shopping. Bring your fur babies, they are welcome almost everywhere! An abundance of hiking opportunities, kayaking, boating and trout fishing. Local orchards, vineyards,
petting zoos, …I could go on and on.
What makes this property unique
We love to thrift as you can see by our interesting decor. Quite different from your ordinary cabin rental. It is almost like a mini-museum of articles from the area, each item that you see has its own little secret story. You can imagine how much fun to decorate, almost completely secondhand, watching it all come into fruition. The decor evolves, because we continue to shop and bring in new pieces. Most of the
furniture is either antique or vintage. We love working together to refinish and to restore furniture.
We both love nature! We are constantly looking for ways to bring nature inside. The
large framed picture in the kitchen is a collectible print, painted by Andy's uncle, Dale Bratcher. He was quite successful, and recognized for his watercolor paintings in the Kentucky area. Also, on that same wall is a picture of us, the owners.
There are lots of farms in the area, representative of the farms is a genuine cowhide hanging above the sofa. There are also genuine deer antlers on the mantle above the fireplace. Another unique specimen of nature are the huge hornet's nests hanging in the stairwell. Andy actually located and retrieved these himself without being stung.
Downstairs, you will see a beautiful deer hide on wall. The old wood stove on the back porch Andy restored lovingly. Ask us about how we got the piece into the cabin!
The area is rich in Indian history, displayed throughout the cabin. Apple decor is representative of Ellijay's wonderful yearly Apple Festival and a picture of Old Glory shows our Patriotism.
We decided to leave our half bath unfinished with lots of signs to read while you carry on about your business. Add a sign if you like!
All in all, we have tried to make your stay fun, comfortable, cozy, relaxing, interesting,
memorable, did we leave anything out? This is us, unique, for you, our unique guests.
Come, visit and enjoy the uniqueness.
Sincerely, Andrew and Suzanne
