My beach home was purchased in 1983, not as an investment, but because I fell in love with Harbor Island. The low country of South Carolina is an ever changing unique ecosystem, and every time I go there I am as delighted as I was the first time that I visited.
The condo has been well cared for by all with whom it has been shared. Some guests have returned each summer for many years; and now they share 'their week' with grandchildren.
ABOUT THE CONDO:
The kitchen has been renovated to include new cupboards, granite counter tops & appliances.
The bathrooms have been completely restructured and tiled. All new fixtures including regular bath tubs, and the sinks are out of the bedrooms.
The living, dining and bedrooms' furniture and decor are continually updated and/or replaced as needed. With my renter's help, I try to keep the condo ready to be enjoyed as I would my home.
New double paned energy star windows. Wow, what a difference in sound and comfort! The outside heat and cold temperatures stay outside. The new front loading clothes washer and dryer are also energy star efficient.
ABOUT THE ISLAND:
Harbor Island has a beautiful beach, sand crabs dancing, loggerhead turtles nesting and hatching, egret and heron rookeries, an occasional alligator or porpoise sighting, watching the tide come in and the shrimp boats go out. Harbor is about angel wing shells and sand dollar searches, about crabbing, fishing, incredible sunrises and sunsets, sea oats and cat tails, fiddler crabs, rare birds, dowagers, sand pipers, pelicans, and the surrounding marsh which serves as a nursery for all of it.
ABOUT THE LOCATION:
Harbor is next door to Hunting Island State Park with its fishing pier, museum and lots of Park Ranger programs. Harbor is a 20 minutes drive from Beaufort, South Carolina with its river front park, nice restaurants and wonderful shops. You might recognize some scenes from the movies that have been shot there. Finally, Harbor is about an hour away from historic Savannah, Georgia to the south and Charleston, South Carolina to the north.
One visit to Harbor, I would venture to predict, will not be enough. You will want to come back again, and again, and again... .
Feel free to call me and/or email me if you would like more information about Cedar Reef Villa C-204 and Harbor Island.
Second generation caretaker of our family beach getaway. Originally from Columbia, South Carolina, I now live with my wife, Jess, and my 2-year old son and 6-year old daughter in Nashville, Tennessee.
Wilson Hubbell purchased this condo in 1983
My mother purchased this property when it was built in 1983, not as an investment, but because she fell in love with Harbor Island. The low country of South Carolina is an ever changing unique ecosystem, and every time I go there I am as delighted as I was the first time that I visited.
Harbor Island is about sharing some quiet time on a sea island with the natural inhabitants. I recently attended an Audubon sponsored Fall Migration weekend and learned that over 650 heron, egret, ibis, and others reside on the island. Migrating birds from the arctic on their way to the tip of South America stop by at Harbor. The sandbars are nesting grounds for endangered birds. And that is just the bird life . . . . Are you a nature lover? . . . you will love Harbor Island.
We loved it. Are coming back. Janet is a dream.!! We love you. I hope we can keep coming!!
This condo was nice and very comfortable! We love this area and went to the beach, pool, and Hunting Island. We are mountain bikers and you can't beat this place as there are real single track trails on neighboring Hunting Island where you can easily ride from here. I'd advise people that go to Harbor Island to check the tide tables and go to the beach at high tide if you want to swim. Janet is wonderful and very helpful! If you haven't been to Harbor Island, you need to go. Then, you won't go anywhere else!
This condo is wonderful! We have been to Fripp Island and Harbor Island many times and this was the nicest and cleanest condo we have ever stayed in. Janet, the owner, was very helpful and friendly and we would LOVE to stay here again!
My two granddaughters and I stayed at this wonderful condo for three days. It was decorated beautifully and so spacious. Everything you could possibly need was furnished, just bring your groceries! Janet was a very helpful and gracious person to work with. We have already decided that we may even try to go back in the fall! Thank you so much Janet!
This wonderful condo has been our memorial day weekend destination for the past 2 years. I immediately fell in love with the condo and the island on our first trip. When we began our family discussions as to where we would be going this summer both my daughters requested a return trip to Harbour Island. This is a wonderful, quiet island. Thank you so much for provviding such a lovely place for us to stay on our visits. This condo is very well furnished and a wonderful place to stay!
We love staying at 117122. The owner always keeps everything up to date and clean. It's very well supplied with kitchen needs. There's plenty of room for us. We love visiting Harbor Island every summer. It's a nice, quiet place with plenty of things to do not too far away. This is for folks who enjoy a simple vacation without lots of people and hoopla. We highly recommend this villa! You will enjoy your stay.
