Overview

About the property

Modern lake home, 4 Bedrooms + Porch, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 13). 32 acres.

Wow! Vacation homes like this don't come around very often. The Lady Slipper Lodge is modern and fully equipped with everything you will need. We are located in the heart of the Chippewa National Forest in north cental Minnesota just 3 1/2 hours north of the Twin Cities. It offers privacy and serenity on a 32-acre woodsy point between a 47' deep 80-acre lake and a 25' deep 60-acre lake. The Lodge is just 90' from the the lakes on both sides with a gradual slope. There is a lake view out of every window and nothing but forest as far as you can see.

The Lodge is the only home on one of the two lakes and it shares the other lake with only one other lake home. All the rest of the land all around both lakes is National Park, state or county land.

Our 32 acres are full of walking trails and the property is close to snowmobile trails and ATV trails as well. You would need to go miles to the north, east or west before you would run into another home. If you want to get away from it all, this is the place to for you.

In spring and winter it is advisable to have a 4-wheel drive to handle the 3/4 mile Forest Service road that leads to the Lodge.

Although we know that most young people are responsible, we prefer to rent to families and to groups of experienced adults.

About Tony J Elfelt

Denise and I live in Nowthen, MN, which is a rural community 45 minutes north of Minneapolis. We have three adult children and seven grandchildren. We run an auction company called AAA Auction. I am a lawyer and an auctioneer.

Tony J Elfelt purchased this house in 1992

Why Tony J Elfelt chose Remer

As a teenager, I camped and fished at Big Winnie quiet a bit. I loved to hunt grouse too and on our trips to Winnie when we drove through the Remer area, I always thought that I would like to have a place where I could fish and hunt grouse right out my back door.

So when I began looking for a property, fishing, hunting and serenity were my main goals. I didn't want close neighbors and I wanted elbow room for kids, dogs, shooting guns and general revelry. I looked for two years before I found this property.

My wife, Denise, allowed me to have my dream when we bought this property in 1992. At that time there was only an old tar paper shack with cracks in the wall that were so big birds could fly in. It was love at first sight. Quiet. Beautiful. Majestic. I could close my eyes and see all of the memories that my family and friends would make in the years to come ---and we did.

What makes this house unique

Although the Lodge is modern and comfortable with many amenities, the comment that we hear most often is how peaceful the Lady Slipper Lodge is. It is truly a rare piece of land. It is a 32-acre point of land between two lakes. It is the only piece of private property on Lower Milton Lake and when you are there you will see more wildlife than you will other people. We cut many trails on our land and if you are more adventurous, there are many miles of hiking and ATV trails right out the back door that lead deep into the Chippewa National Forest.

While we don't have walleyes or a sandy beach, we do have a swimming raft and great panfish, northerns and bass and a very nice beach is located on Little Sand Lake nearby. The lake is also great for crappies and northerns through the ice. Many people come to this area as well for deer hunting and its superb grouse hunting.

Notes:
If you like peace and quiet, this is the place for you. You will be more than a mile from the nearest tar road at the end of a 1/2- mile driveway where nearly the only sounds you will hear will be those of nature. You may see another boat on the lake because there is a public access and it is a great fishing lake for sunnies, crappies, bass and northern. However, during the week, there is a good chance that you won't see another person at all. The Lodge was built in 1996. It has 23' high vaulted ceilings in the great room and an open floor plan so people in the kitchen can still be part of the festivities. The walls in the great room are knotty pine for that 'up north' atmosphere and they showcase many mounts including deer, moose, elk, ducks and fish. The Lodge is a 2-story walkout with a deck on 2 sides. The upper level is the main living area with 2 bedrooms with queen-sized beds and walk-in closets. The lower level also has 2 bedrooms with queen size beds.

We had an amazing time at the lady slipper lodge! The fishing was great and our stay at the cabin couldn’t have been better. Beautiful view of the lake from the living room and a spacious upstairs made for a comfortable and relaxing time. Strongly encourage a stay!

The Lady Slipper Lodge is on a point, a stone's throw from two lakes. The main attractions are the executive-style home and the serenity provided by our 30- acre point surrounded by miles of Chippewa Forest on all sides. Fishing is great and most of the time you will be able to fish without seeing another soul on the lakes. There are also hundreds of miles of trails open to snowmobilings and ATV's. We also supply with the rental three canoes, two kayaks, two small fishing boats and ar paddle boat. A pontoon with a 40 -horse Merc is also available for $350 for the week. Also, after enjoying the magnificent sunsets, you may choose to visit one of the local taverns for some kareoke and refreshements or travel about 40 minutes from the lodge to a large casino in Walker, Mn.
