About this property
Exquisite Artist's home, all summer or month to month.
This home is beautifully appointed with high end furniture, oriental rugs and art from across the globe. It has the best of both worlds. Sweeping valley views to weather watch and have a sense of open space, yet it is only an eight minute walk to theaters, the park and downtown eateries. It has two established bedrooms with an option of a reading room with a comfy sofa/sleeper, for occasional use. It has a light airy open floor plan, with the master, en suite bathroom, a 1/2 bath, and an additional office on the main level as well as an airy art studio for yoga, art work or movement exercise. Upstairs is an additional bedroom and a full bathroom as well as a reading room/study with a surprisingly comfy pull out bed for the occasional visitor. A lovely covered deck and sweet private garden adds to the serenity of the home.
If you are inclined to love both the quietude and peace of being at home, in conjunction with easy access to both town and trails, then you may well enjoy a retreat in this gorgeous home which will appeal to those who love sanctuary without needing to sacrifice easy accessibility to all that Ashland has to offer.

About the host
Hosted by Priya Huffman
We are both homebodies. As such we have spent time and consideration to make our home both comfortable and beautiful, filled with the art of a lifetime of travel and the appreciation of art in all forms.
We are also in that wondrous time of time, where while very engaged with life in all aspects, we no longer practice as psychotherapists so each summer we are free to travel to a remote island up in BC to spend significant time in wild nature and with our family and grandchildren. That's why we are making our personal home available to guests. We are away all summer long, so our home is available all summer long to those who might enjoy and appreciate it's particular charms, or on a month to month basis. We have two dogs who travel with us, and because of our love of animals and the special bonds we bear each other, we are open to guests who travel with a dog. Especially those well behaved variety. I am an artist and so the home has this great studio which just invites exploration or is the perfect place to plop down a yoga mat or do your movement exercises, or set up your easel. It is a Stretch or Sketch studio. We have an extensive library that traverses the world from poetry to spirituality to astro physics to the natural world and it's creatures. We are homebodies and our home reflects this care. We welcome you to ask questions to ensure it will be a great fit for us both.

Why they chose this property
Ashland has it all, so when we choose to re-locate two and a half years ago from Boulder Co. because we were wanting a quieter life in a scaled down town, that had everything you could ever need or want, we choose Ashland. It has beauty, nature, sophistication yet it's not at all snooty, and somehow our home reflects all of these qualities. We walked in and instantly knew. It had belongs to an artist/ psychotherapist before us. She built the house and was very attentive to light. And light it is, from so many angles and entry points. It is open, spacious, gorgeous views that make you feel you are almost in the country, yet and this is so great, in a mere 8 minutes you are downtown and 10 minutes to the theaters and all the great eateries. Yet, if you walk the other way and don't mind a cardio work out, you can in 12 minutes walk along the shady and unique TID ditch system with it's Madrone forests and raised walking paths and sweeping views and forest cool.
This property has that unique blend of being out of the fray quiet with close to it all location. The best of both worlds.

What makes this property unique
Location, location, location. For Ashland, it is the best. If you love walking, you could basically park your car for most of your time here. From the kitchen, dining area and back deck the sweeping views over the valley are both stunning and fascinating. The light in this town keeps changing as the day moves through it's hours. And you get to watch, from the beauty and comfort of your home. The master bedroom is north facing so it the summer it tends to be cooler, since Ashland is a mecca for those who love summer heat. It faces the garden and all you see is green, and then maybe some ripening apples waiting for the fall harvest. The whole house hosts kilims, wall hangings and rugs from the middle east, and original paintings that we have collected over the years from our favorite artists. You have three eating options, casual bar counter, inside dining room and outside on the deck. For any and all meals you get to eat from hand made vessels and plates made by your very own hostess, (I am a potter). The master bedroom boasts an all organic european boutique mattress. The only warning I will make to you is this. You may not be happy with any other after you have rested on ours. That is our disclaimer. Enjoy and relax.
